Liberal police investigate violent acts by teen ‘gang'
LIBERAL, Kan. (KSNW) — Police in Liberal are investigating a series of violent acts they say are carried out by a group of teens who may be organizing themselves as a gang. The incidents, which involve kidnapping, assaults, and other crimes, police say, are raising serious concerns within the community.
County settles lawsuits over ex-deputy's sex crimes
In a public safety announcement published on social media, Liberal police say the group may meet the legal definition of a criminal street gang under Kansas law.
Police cited reports and video evidence show juveniles being ambushed, shot with Orbeez guns (water pellet guns), restrained with duct tape — including over their mouths — and even shocked with jumper cables.
'These are not harmless pranks,' the Liberal Police Department said in a statement. 'They are criminal acts and will be treated accordingly.'

The case remains under investigation.

Bullets, graffiti hinder restoration work on historic Michigan lighthouse
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A northern Michigan group is working to restore a historic lighthouse. Now, they're not only fighting Mother Nature and Father Time, but an alleged vandal, as well. 'It's just years and years of build up and paint and, you know, if we're going to spend all this money, donated money to entirely clean this down to the bare metal and then restore it to pristine condition, is this just going to happen again?' Ketz said. The restoration project was estimated to cost $1.1 million in 2022. Griebe already knows the costs will surpass that estimate and wants to avoid any other unnecessary work. Deputies: Holland Township rear-end crash sends 1 to hospital
HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say a woman was hospitalized Friday after a rear-end crash in Holland Township. It happened just after 11:40 a.m. on Riley Street near 100th Avenue, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. A 44-year-old woman was heading east in a white Jeep, according to the sheriff's office. At the same time, two cars were stopped on Riley at a traffic signal. Deputies say the woman rear-ended the two stopped cars, then went off the road, through a fence and into the backyard of a nearby home. The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office. Other people suffered minor injuries. Peoria police search for man after car theft at gunpoint
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Peoria police are looking for a man who allegedly took a vehicle from another man at gunpoint late Thursday night. The incident occurred at about 10:45 p.m. in the 100 block of North Braves Court which is about a block away from the Carver Center, police said. When officers arrived at the scene, they talked to the victim, who said he was parked in his vehicle when another person approached him. That person, who was armed, ordered him out of the vehicle and drove off, police said. The victim was not injured. Later, the car was found 1000 block of West Hurlburt Street which is about four blocks away. Officers were able to find the car using a License Plate Reader camera.
