Kelly Clarkson breaks down crying in viral video days before ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's death

New York Posta day ago
Kelly Clarkson was struggling to get through her residency show in the days leading up to her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's shocking death.
The singer, 43, broke down crying during her July 26 Las Vegas Studio Session residency concert while introducing fans to an updated version of her song 'Piece by Piece.'
'Compartmentalization!' Clarkson said out loud while wiping away tears and attempting to get through the track in a newly resurfaced video recorded by TikTok user @modestishottest4u.

The original lyrics were about Clarkson's estranged father and how much better a dad and partner Blackstock was.

The song was released in 2015, five years before she filed for divorce from Blackstock, who tragically died at age 48 after losing his battle to cancer last week.
'I've never rewritten a song more and I probably never will,' she told the audience during the show last month. 'I wrote this song with a lot of hope and projection for happiness and better than what was happening. And then, well, life set in and I had to change the lyrics. Everybody was like, 'Wait, why aren't you singing this song?' And I was like, 'Have you heard the lyrics?' That's fun. Embarrassing.'

Clarkson reworked the lyrics in 2023 while going through her nasty divorce battle with her late ex-husband and explained why she changed them once again.
'We did it [the song] one time, I did a residency here, and then I was like, 'You know what, that sounded a little angry,'' she said. 'So I just wanted to explain how it feels now. I'm 43. I've done some therapy, and I changed the lyrics now and I think it's perfect. I promise. I'm not gonna change it again.'
She added, 'It just represents, kind of, I don't know I feel like we grow up, right? And this is the more grown up version of it.'

However, Clarkson still struggled to even start the song.
'I'm really trying to pull it together,' the entertainer shared while turning her back to the cheering audience to collect herself.
'Screw it, let's just sing it. This is 'Piece by Piece,'' she declared before belting out the verses.

Two years ago, she sang, 'I just walk away, when they ask for money. I take care of me 'cause I love me. Piece by piece I restored my faith that a heart can still beat even when it breaks,' an alleged reference to all the money Blackstock requested during their legal fight.
But last month, Clarkson sang, 'I'm learning everyday how to love me. I let go of the shame that you taught me. Piece by piece I restored the faith that a heart can still beat even if it breaks.'

Just days later, on August 6, the Grammy winner abruptly canceled the month's remaining residency shows due to Blackstock's illness.

'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,' Clarkson wrote on her Instagram, just two days before she was set to take the stage,' the singer shared last week.
'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,' the singer added.

'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,' they said in a statement obtained by The Post on Thursday, August 7.
'He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time,' they concluded.

Clarkson married Blackstock — her former talent manager — in 2013. She filed for divorce in 2020, with the exes fighting over custody of their two children, daughter River, 11, and son Remington 'Remy,' 9.

The divorce was settled in 2022, with Clarkson getting primary custody of their kids and Blackstock walking away with $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024 and a monthly amount of $45,600 in child support.
Clarkson is said to be 'devastated' for the children over the loss of their father. Blackstock was also a parent to two others: daughter Savannah, 23, and son Seth, 18, from his first marriage.
'When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,' a source told People after his passing. 'Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She's been devastated for the kids.'
The 'Since U Been Gone' singer's next residency show isn't scheduled until November 7, but she won't have too much time to mourn.
Clarkson's syndicated talk show, which debuted in 2019, is set to return for its seventh season this fall, meaning she'll be filming new episodes in September, according to TMZ.

The serum-like consistency is meant to provide a natural medium-weight finish, and reviewers say it works wonders for covering acne scarring and hyperpigmentation without looking cakey. A leather cleaner to polish up and add some shine to any furniture, shoes, or accessories that have seen better days. It requires ZERO scrubbing, just spray, wipe, and let dry. It's perfect for restoring your couch back to its former glory or making your car's seats look presentable again. Reviewers especially love this one (it's a constant best-seller on Amazon) since it only takes a few rolls back and forth to pick up the toughest pet hair, and the quick-release button makes it a breeze to remove the fur from the roller brush. A powerful callus remover that's a major upgrade from other harsh formulas you may have tried in the past. Some callus-removing products will make the surrounding skin feel dry and irritated, but this one includes a healthy dose of glycerin to help soften and hydrate. Go ahead and add some highly-rated sandals to your cart while you're at it. And a foot peeling spray if you're looking for a fast-acting, super convenient way to get rid of dead skin pronto. Just spray a few spritzes on clean feet, rub off dead skin (the formula will start to roll up into tiny balls to help you exfoliate!), then wash it off! They say these are even more soft and cushiony right out of the box yet still feel supportive enough to keep your feet comfy during a full day of errand running. A bottle of earwax removal drops — it uses fizzy microfoam action to break down all the stubborn wax that's been clogging up your ears for way too long now. Just apply five to 10 drops to your ear, keep your head tilted for several minutes to let the carbamide peroxide loosen your hardened ear wax, then flush away any remaining wax with warm water in a bulb or syringe. Is Gleb Savchenko on ‘Dancing With the Stars' Season 34?

It turns out Gleb Savchenko may not make his way back to the dance floor for Dancing With the Stars season 34. The pro dancer broke the bad news in a recent TikTok, where he lip syncs over a sound saying, 'I don't know where you got your information from, I don't know who your source is, but I will be the first one to tell you that is incorrect.' 'Your 'source' needs a refund… because that story? 100% fake,' he wrote in his caption. And then, in response to a fan who commented, 'Can't wait to see you on my TV again in September!' Gleb replied, 'Afraid you won't.' Gleb's post comes after the trailer for his ex-girlfriend Brooks Nadar's upcoming reality series, Love Thy Nader, dropped on August 11. The show focuses on the model and her sisters as they make the move from their humble hometown in Louisiana to pursue their dreams in NYC. In the trailer, Brooks recounts her connection with her ex, saying, 'Gleb and I met through Dancing with the Stars. In our family, we say, 'You don't date one Nader sister, you date all of us.'' The model then doubled down on allegations that he cheated on her, adding, 'He's a cheater and I have all that proof.' Gleb's voice can also be heard in the trailer, adding, 'Just sad how people spread lies and rumors to promote their new reality show.' ICYMI, the pro dancer first joined the cast for season 16 in 2013 and went on to compete in seasons 23 through 33, when he was partnered with Sports Illustrated model, Brooks Nader. The pair sparked romance rumors thanks to their on-stage chemistry last season, but their relationship was pretty much confirmed when fan-captured footage caught them kissing backstage in September. From there, the pair ended up in an on-again, off-again relationship that lasted until April 2025. According to People, they split up for good because Brooks suspected that the pro dancer had cheated on her. As for the next season of DWTS, we have yet to see the full cast of stars competing for the famous mirrorball trophy. A few celebs who have confirmed their involvement include social media star and podcaster Alix Earle, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt, and the son of wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, Robert Irwin.

You need to see these 'Reacher' season 4 set photos — Alan Ritchson's new love interest revealed

"Reacher" is undeniably one of the biggest hits for Prime Video. The first three seasons have been critically and commercially successful for the streaming service — I loved season 3 when I reviewed it here at Tom's Guide — and it wasn't surprising when the show was officially renewed for season 4. Now, with production in full swing, we've gotten a first look at a major cast member. Via @rikiwichman, a fan account on Instagram, we finally got a first look at Sydelle Noel, who has joined the "Reacher" season 4 cast as Tamara Green. They initially posted the announcement back on June 18 when Noel was officially added to the cast, but revised the post yesterday (Aug. 11), complete with new set photos of Noel as Green (via Getty Images). A post shared by Riki Wichman (@rikiwichman) A photo posted by on The set photos of Sydelle smartly dressed in a professional yet functional outfit don't reveal much about her character, but her character's name reveals everything. That's because Tamara Green was originally Theresa Lee, and that means she's Alan Ritchson's love interest for season 4. For those less familiar with "Reacher," they're based on the "Jack Reacher" novel series by Lee Child, and that means if we know what book a season is based on, then we know a decent amount about what to expect from a given season. We know season 4 is based on the novel "Gone Tomorrow," thanks to an Alan Ritchson post on Instagram a few months ago. And in that installment of the series, Jack Reacher's love interest is none other than NYPD detective Theresa Lee. A post shared by Alan Ritchson (@alanritchson) A photo posted by on That makes this first look a pretty major one for "Reacher" season 4, as past love interests — Roscoe Conklin (Willa Fitzgerald), Serinda Swan (Karla Dixon) and Susan Duffy (Sonya Cassidy) — all played major roles in their given seasons, arguably costarring alongside Ritchson. So definitely don't expect this to be the last you see of Tamara Green between now and the "Reacher" season 4 release on Prime Video. So far, we know that "Reacher" season 4 will bring back Alan Ritchson as the titular, mammoth Jack Reacher, a former U.S. Army military police major whose skills allow him to solve any case and kick any butt. We also know that season 4 will be adapting "Gone Tomorrow," which has Reacher drawn into a deadly game against dangerous people after a fraught, chance encounter with a stranger on a train. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 30-day free trial for Amazon Prime! Why pay for Prime Video when it's included with Amazon Prime? Try it free for 30 days. Aside from that, we know to expect some new faces this season, as "Reacher" largely resets its cast each season. Only Ritchson as Reacher and Maria Sten as Frances Neagley have appeared in all three seasons to date. Of course, we know Noel will be a major part of the season 4 cast as Reacher's love interest, Green, but we also know a few other cast members joining this season. Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette is playing Jacob Merrick, a small-town police officer with a big role in season 4. Jay Baruchel was originally cast as Merrick but had to leave for personal reasons. Rodriguez-Marquette, Ritchson and Noel are joined by Agnez Mo and Anggun as Lila and Amisha Hoth, who we are expecting to be the villains this season. Kevin Corrigan is playing Green's partner, NYPD Detective Docherty, Marc Blucas is politician John Samson and Kathleen Robertson is his wife, Elsbeth. Kevin Weisman is also on board as Russell Plum, the lone character that, as far as we can tell, isn't in the novel "Gone Tomorrow." The big question that remains? Will Sten return for a fourth season as Neagley? I hope so, but there's nothing official yet. She might be too busy with her "Reacher" spin-off, "Neagley," which is currently in production. Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022 and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. He's not one to shy away from a hot take, including that "John Wick" is one of the four greatest films ever made. Here's what he's been watching lately:
