City's volatile weather sees scattered rains
Bhopal: Strong wind and showers after a humid day provided marginal relief from the harsh weather in Bhopal on Saturday.
Similar weather conditions were expected to prevail in the city, while in parts of the state there was still a warning of heat waves for a few places.
The day temperature in Bhopal on Saturday was recorded at 40.2 degrees celsius, two degrees more than the normal mark, while night temperature in the city was 29.0 degrees celsius, three degrees more than the normal mark. The day temperature in Narmadapuram was 45.2 degrees celsius. In the forecast for Bhopal on Sunday the meteorological dept stated there would be partly cloudy sky with chances of thundery development, rain towards evening and night hours.
Day and night temperature would be respectively 40 degrees celsius and 28 degrees celsius, while average wind speed will be 20 kilometers per hour.
In the forecast for the state the meteorological dept issued a warning of heat wave for Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Datia, Bhind, Morena and Sheopurkalan dists.
A possibility of rainfall or drizzle with thunderstorm and lightning was underlined for Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Damoh, Sagar,Khargone and Barwani districts.
In the weather outlook the meteorological dept stated no large change for one day, thereafter gradual fall of temperature by 2 degrees to 3 degrees.

Heavy showers batter Kolkata; IMD issues yellow alert for several Bengal districts

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata, has forecast heavy rainfall on Monday in the coastal districts of South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore, apart from West Midnapore. North Bengal districts, such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri, are expected to receive 7-11 cm of rainfall with thunderstorms over the coming days. Hill areas face elevated landslide risks, while major rivers, including Teesta and Jaldhaka, may experience rising water levels due to sustained rainfall. Meteorologists said that the change in weather was being driven by the strengthening monsoon system over the Bay of Bengal, with marine warnings issued for Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather department at 11 am on Sunday said Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degree Celsius and a minimum of 29.2 degree Celsius in the past 24 hours. Delhi receives shower of relief from heatwave, IMD issues severe thunderstorm and strong wind alert
New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): Delhi on Sunday received a welcome shower of relief from the recent heatwave. Parts of Delhi experienced rainfall, bringing down temperatures and improving air quality. The rainfall, including gusty winds and thunderstorms, has significantly lowered the temperature in Delhi, offering relief from the intense heatwave conditions, providing a much-needed respite from the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a severe thunderstorm and strong wind alert for the city, warning residents to stay indoors. According to the IMD, 'moderate to intense spell of rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning, and squally winds reaching speeds of 80-100 kmph' swept through the capital during the early hours. Visuals from Krishi Bhavan, Rafi Marg, and Udyog Bhawan showed heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashing the national capital, bringing respite from the heat. Two thundersqualls along with hailstorm activity were recorded at Safdarjung between 0348 to 0350 hrs IST and 0358 to 0400 hrs IST. The first squall saw gusty winds reaching 82 kmph, while the second saw a peak wind speed of 104 kmph, the IMD said. The weather department urged residents to take precautions. 'Stay indoors and avoid travel unless necessary,' the IMD advisory said, as flying debris and low visibility posed risks on the roads. However, the intense wind and rain also disrupted early morning traffic, with waterlogging reported in several low-lying areas. Meanwhile, the national capital continued to reel under intense heat as several parts of the city recorded a maximum temperature of over 43 degrees Celsius on Thursday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several weather stations across the city reported scorching daytime temperatures until 8:30 AM today, with Ayanagar recording the highest maximum temperature at 45.0C. The Ayanagar area recorded 45.0C (Max) / 30.5C (Min), Palam saw 44.5C (Max) / 30.2C (Min), Ridge witnessed 43.6C (Max) / 26.2C (Min), Lodhi Road saw 43.4C (Max) / 29.2C (Min) and Safdarjung area experienced 43.3C (Max) / Minimum temperature data. Heavy rain lashes Mangaluru, soil slide hits NH-169; homes, walls damaged across city
