Season 1 of the contemporary western romance show will unfold in 10 episodes.
Based on the first book in a series of 10 contemporary Western romance novels by Jodi Thomas, Ransom Canyon's official logline reads:
Welcome to Ransom Canyon, where love, loss, and loyalty collide beneath the crimson mesas of Texas Hill Country. With three ranching family dynasties locked in a contest for control of the land, their lives and legacies are threatened by outside forces intent on destroying their way of life. At the center of it all is stoic rancher Staten Kirkland (Duhamel), who is healing from heartbreaking loss and on a quest for vengeance.'
'Staten's only glimmer of hope rests in the eyes and heart of Quinn O'Grady (Kelly), longtime family friend and owner of the local dancehall. But as the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past. Vise tightening, Staten fights to protect the land he calls home, and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him.'
The teaser clip also shows snippets of what looks like a romance between Greene's Lauren Brigman and Wareing's Lucas Russell.
'It's a multi-generational family show set on a ranch, and we say it's Virgin River meets Yellowstone,' Jinny Howe, Netflix's Head of Drama, Development, told Deadline in August 2022 about Ransom Canyon, a romance-fueled family drama and contemporary western saga that weaves together the lives of three ranching families, all set against the rugged expanse of Texas Hill Country, specifically crimson mesas.
There also looks to be a brotherhood between Staten and Cap Fuller, according to the teaser clip.
RELATED:
'It's a contemporary Western romance show, just looking for more in this comfort romance space,' Howe added in the 2022 interview. 'We think that it's going to deliver on all the romance and again it will be a really beautiful vista and setting, very escapist.'

Nobody Wants This cast announce release date for season two

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody have confirmed season two of Nobody Wants This will drop later this year. Loosely inspired by creator Erin Foster's own experiences, the hit Netflix show follows agnostic podcaster Joanne (Bell) as she starts a relationship with an unconventional rabbi named Noah (Brody). The show was renewed for a second series shortly after it premiered via the streamer last September, and on Sunday, the cast revealed the new episodes will drop on 23 October. The news was shared by Bell, Brody, and fellow actors Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn at Netflix's FYSEE LA Emmy Event. In addition, producers posted a video online in which the actors are seen celebrating the release date by asking a Magic 8 Ball questions regarding the "scoop" on the second season. Bell begins by asking, "Will the Matzah Ballers (fictional basketball team) make the playoffs?" to which she gets the response: "Try again, loser." The cast also questions whether there will be "another iconic kiss this season," referring to a memorable scene between Bell and Brody's characters in the second episode, and if Joanne's sister Morgan, as played by Lupe, will "find love". To conclude, Bell asks the Magic 8 Ball what's coming in October, to which she gets the response: "Ask a rabbi". "And the rabbi says: season two! Your favourite show and mine, Nobody Wants This," adds Brody. In a recent interview for Netflix's Queue magazine, the former star of The O.C. recalled how the entire cast of Nobody Wants This instantly bonded. "We just enjoy each other so much," he gushed. "I know these are early days, but we're not young kids. We're stable. And I would imagine if we go a long time, we'll still feel that way. I just really, really, really like everyone."
