Wordle hints today for #1,509: Clues and answer for Wednesday, August 6

Yahoo4 days ago
Hey, there! We've reached the midway point of the week, and we hope things are going splendidly for you thus far. If you're looking for some assistance with today's Wordle, you're in the right place. Here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Wednesday's puzzle (#1,509).
It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too.
What is Wordle?
Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. There is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone.
Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats.
The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily.
How to play Wordle
To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses.
You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once.
Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets and Discord. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak.
How to play Wordle more than once a day
If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,500 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions.
In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game.

The ‘Wednesday Season 2 Part 2' Trailer Welcomes Back a Familiar Face

Now that we're just over a week out from the first half of the season 2 release of Netflix's The Addams Family remake, Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer has finally released a new trailer for its second half. The trailer starts nightmarishly, at least for Wednesday, with her waking up in a hospital bed. Although she's not greeted by Momma Monster herself, Lady Gaga, who has yet to make an appearance on the show despite all the hype surrounding her mysterious involvement, Wednesday is met with a familiar face, fan-favorite character Principal Weems, played by Gwendoline Weems' return comes as a surprise, seeing as how last season saw the loathsome head of Nevermore Academy meet her end. Thinking Wednesday also bought the farm after her encounter with Tyler (Hunter Doohan) at the end of season 2's first half, Weems took immense pleasure in revealing that she'll be nagging at Wednesday inside her thoughts as a kind of gothic Jiminy Cricket tag-along as Wednesday gets back to her premonition quest to save her best friend, Enid (Emma Myers), from certain doom. Sprinkled throughout the rest of the trailer is narration by Wednesday, reminding both herself and the viewers that she still has other matters to attend to. Mainly, her family's seemingly endless well of dark secrets bubbling to the surface, and Tyler being on the loose with plans to put Wednesday and Enid in an early grave. While the news of the day is that viewers won't have to wait all that long to get the final half of the split in twain season, fans can take solace in knowing that there's more Wednesday mayhem in store for them in the future beyond the second slice. Namely, a third season is in the works as well as a spin-off. While details on both fronts have been kept under wraps, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have expressed interest in keeping the show going for at least seven seasons. Our money is on the plans for a spin-off likely taking the focus off of Ortega, should Hollywood come a-knocking for her to do some acting outside of Netflix's backyard. Regardless, Wednesday continues to be a booming success on the streamer. Shortly after Wednesday season two part one premiered on Netflix, Variety reported that the new season has already matched the first season's streaming performance. With Lady Gaga still to make her presence felt on the screen, the show is likely to continue performing well for the streamer and delight fans as it closes out its second season. Wednesday season two part two releases on September 3. Want more io9 news? ‘Wednesday' Season 2 Part 2 Reveals Returning Dead Character, New Trailer

Wednesday season 2 part 2 is just over two weeks away, and Netflix is now ramping up promotion for the second four episodes that will air on September 3. Love Netflix splitting these seasons in half. Love, love, love it. Part of that promotion includes a new trailer, and a new revelation that a dead Wednesday character is coming back to life. Well, not back to life, per se, but will be back on the show. Spoilers follow, I suppose, but Netflix is using this reveal as the main thrust of its marketing. She's literally in the first five seconds of the new trailer. That would be Gwendoline Christie's Principal Weems, who will return to be Wednesday's much-needed spirit guide as she attempts to regain her powers and solve murder mysteries. The bulk of the trailer centers on the arrival of Weems as her new guide, and she's only able to be seen by Wednesday, no one else. Here's the trailer: The main conflict appears to be centered on Tyler's escape and his desire to hunt down and murder both Wednesday and Enid. He almost killed Wednesday in the season 2 part 1 finale, but I mean, who actually believed that was going happen? There's a new interview on Netflix's Tudum with showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, who talks about her return, and who might be able to come back to life in the future. In short, anyone: 'When we got into the writers room, we were determined to bring Gwen back,' says Millar. 'The audience has fallen in love with the Wednesday–Weems relationship … so we're bringing her back in the second half of the season in a very special way that is as confrontational as it is delicious.' Gough adds, 'Nobody in our world is truly dead dead.' Christie also talked about her new role as the not-alive-but-still-back Weems: 'I've always said that Weems is my perception of a Hitchcock woman, which is something I've been obsessed with my entire life,' Christie says. 'Whereas we were largely inspired by Hitchcock's The Birds in Season 1, Season 2 is more in a place of Vertigo. A quote from the film is, 'Do you believe that someone out of the past — someone dead — can enter and take possession of a living being?' ' I suppose there was no avoiding the reveal of Weems, saving it for the premiere of the show, unless you just skipped all marketing entirely. And now we know that really anyone is on the table to come back to life, so whoever may die this season could be back in some form or another in the future, so we should keep that in mind.
