Woodson went on to win a Super Bowl title in Green Bay and became a Hall-of-Fame player who helped redefine his position at the next level.
On Wednesday, Woodson's son reported what his father had been longing to hear as he shared big news about the Wolverines football program on his X account after a recent offer from another football powerhouse.

"Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Michigan!!!!" Woodson Jr. wrote on his X account as he broke the news Wednesday.
The Lake Nona, Florida native has been a fast riser among high school prospects since he began receiving attention from bigger schools.

Michigan fans clamored for the Wolverines to offer Woodson Jr. and finally got their wish, shortly after he was offered by the Florida State Seminoles.
Woodson Jr. now has a four-star ranking on On3.com after his latest accumulation of scholarship offers.
Woodson Jr. has offers from Texas A&M, Sacramento State, Michigan, Florida State, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Delaware, and Kentucky.
He reports a height of 5-foot-11 and a weight of 170 pounds and will be part of the Class of 2027 as a free safety and cornerback.
Michigan football has been linked to over 50 prospects so far for the Class of 2027.
Woodson Jr. would become a centerpiece in the class should he decide to sign on the dotted line.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After 37 years at 22News, our longtime 22News Anchor Rich Tettemer is retiring. Rich's career in broadcasting began back in January 1984 as a videotape editor at WFLA in Tampa, Florida. He then went on to become a Weekend Sports Anchor at KODE-TV in Joplin, Missouri. 22News' Rich Tettemer awarded Garry Brown Excellence Award night before retirement Rich joined the 22News team on April 18, 1988, which was Patriots Day with both the Boston Marathon and the Red Sox morning game, and handled the busy day smoothly. He stood with us through the glory years, covering all the unforgettable Patriots Super Bowl victories. In locker rooms, on parade routes, and in the hearts of fans, Rich captured the emotion behind every win. From Salt Lake City to Torino, he showed us the world stage at the Olympics. In 2004, an event would be what Rich calls the pinnacle of his sports career. After 86 long years, the Red Sox finally broke the curse, and Rich was right there, bringing the magic home to fans who had waited a lifetime. He was then moved to anchor the morning newscast on October 16, 2006, after 18 and a half years on the sports desk. He has been the morning news Anchor for another 18 and a half years. Year after year, through rain or shine, Rich was front and center at the Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade, hosting, celebrating, and bringing our communities together. When the Eagles landed Gardner-Johnson the first time around, he was traded by the New Orleans Saints after spending his first three seasons there. Gardner-Johnson appeared in 12 games in 2022, registering a career-high 67 tackles and leading the league with six interceptions. The veteran safety was a helping hand in getting the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 2023. During that offseason, Gardner-Johnson hit the free agency market and inked a one-year deal to join the Detroit Lions. When he left the Eagles for the Lions, Gardner-Johnson publicly made it clear that he wanted to return to Philadelphia, but contract discussions did not go as he had hoped. After one season in Detroit, Gardner-Johnson made his way back to Philadelphia. He signed a three-year deal with the Eagles. The deal was for a reported $27 million, with $10 million guaranteed. The Minnesota Vikings are the greatest team in NFL history to never win the Lombardi Trophy. They've played in 53 playoff games (21-32), 10 conference championships (4-6) and our Super Bowls (0-4). Yet, since the AFL/NFL merger in 1961 (Super Bowl era), the 65-year-old Vikings have never been to climb the ultimate NFL mountain. The closest they ever came were all from the same Purple People Eaters era from 1968 to 1978, when the Minnesota Vikings made the playoffs in 10 of 11 seasons, a run that included all four of the team's Super Bowl runs, to date — three of which were lead by legendary head coach Bud Grant and the greatest QB in franchise history, Fran Tarkenton. It stands to reason that Minnesota will find a way to honor Jim Marshall this season. His number 70 is one of six retired by the organization. I can imagine there will be a jersey patch or, at least something on Vikings helmets this season, in order to commemorate Marshall and everything he has meant to the Minnesota Vikings.
