India's NPG evaluates projects across logistics & textiles

India's Network Planning Group (NPG) has evaluated seven projects—one road/highway project of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), one Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), three rail projects, and two textile parks under the PM MITRA Scheme—for their conformity with PM GatiShakti principles of integrated multimodal infrastructure, last-mile connectivity to economic and social nodes, and a whole-of-government approach.
These initiatives are expected to boost logistics efficiency, reduce travel times and deliver socio-economic benefits to the catchment areas of the projects.
The Network Planning Group (NPG) has evaluated seven projects under PM GatiShakti, including road, rail, Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), and textile parks. These initiatives are aimed to boost logistics efficiency, regional development, and global competitiveness, improving connectivity, freight capacity, and socio-economic outcomes.
The Ministry of Textiles has proposed the development of the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park in Madhya Pradesh within the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor influence zone. The park will provide infrastructure for the full textile value chain and benefit districts including Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Jhabua and Ujjain.
The Ministry of Textiles has also proposed the development of a PM MITRA Park in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, spanning 1,052 acres. The park will offer plug-and-play manufacturing units, CETP and STP facilities, training centres, and social amenities. Both textile projects aim to enhance global competitiveness, create employment, support regional development, and strengthen India's position in the global textile sector, in alignment with PM GatiShakti and Make in India.
The Ministry of Railways has proposed the construction of the third and fourth railway lines between Bakhtiyarpur and Fatuha, covering 24.156 km in Patna, Bihar. This section is part of a multi-tracking initiative on the Kiul–Patna–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction corridor (approximately 390 km).
The project will strengthen regional mobility, freight capacity and economic integration, benefitting major industrial establishments including Ultratech Cement Plant, NTPC Super Thermal Power Plant (Barh), Carriage Repair Workshop (Harnaut) and SJVN Power Plant (Chausa), as well as SMEs in automotive, marble, stone, food processing, petroleum and textiles, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a press release.
The alignment through a fertile agricultural zone will improve market access for farmers, and enhance tourism connectivity to sites in Patna, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya, Nalanda and Bihar Sharif. It will increase passenger capacity, reduce congestion and contribute to economic and social development in Bihar and adjoining regions.
The Ministry of Railways has proposed a fourth railway line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu, covering 30.021 km within Chengalpattu district, Southern Railway.
The section includes one junction station, four crossing stations and five halt stations. The project aims to augment capacity for rising passenger and freight traffic, improve logistics efficiency, reduce transportation costs and support key industries including cement, thermal power, coal, iron and steel, and agriculture-based sectors.
The Ministry of Railways has proposed a fourth railway line between Dongargarh and Gondia, covering 84.10 km. The project falls under the 'Energy Corridor' to improve bulk freight movement efficiency. It will decongest Gondia Junction by creating a bypass and facilitate seamless movement of loaded trains between Durg Junction, Nagpur and Balharshah Junctions.
The project will benefit mining, agriculture and manufacturing sectors, reduce transportation costs, and encourage modal shift from road to rail.
For all three railway projects, the NPG recommended upgradation of station infrastructure, passenger amenities, accessibility for persons with disabilities, and development of related facilities, including parking, waiting areas and evacuation road connectivity.
MoRTH has proposed a 54.2 km road corridor connecting Rewa to Churhat to improve connectivity between eastern Madhya Pradesh and the state capital. The project will serve as a vital freight corridor for cement and coal industries in Singrauli, integrating with multiple National Highways, reducing travel time and vehicle operating costs.
MoRTH has proposed the development of an MMLP at Parkibanda village, Medak district, Telangana, spanning 315 acres. The facility will handle 1.47 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo annually from 2028, with capacity to increase to 19.98 MMT by 2070.
The site is strategically located within 50 km of major industrial hubs and offers multimodal connectivity through NH-44 and Manoharabad Railway Station. Upon completion of the Regional Ring Road, the MMLP will have direct access to major freight corridors, including Mumbai and JNPT.

New Delhi: India's logistics sector, valued at $215 billion in 2021, is well-positioned for strong growth with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.7 per cent till 2026, government data showed on Saturday. The government's decision to grant the sector infrastructure status has enabled access to cheaper, long-term funding, similar to roads and railways, further solidifying its significant role in the growth story of India. Several government initiatives like the National Logistics Policy (NLP), PM GatiShakti, GST and Logistics Parks are modernising infrastructure and cutting costs. 'The sector employs over 22 million people and is creating millions of new jobs. Inland Waterways reported a record cargo of 145.5 million tonnes for 2024–25. Digitalisation and tech platforms like ULIP are boosting efficiency and transparency across supply chains,' according to the official data. India stands as the fourth-largest economy in the world. Different sectors, including the service, manufacturing, and agriculture, led India's strong recovery after the pandemic in 2021 and 2022, resulting in 15.3 per cent growth over the two years. India has since maintained its status as the world's fastest-growing major economy, with a real GDP growth rate (at constant prices) of 6.5 per cent in the year 2024-2025. Stronger supply chains today mean a stronger, more resilient India tomorrow. The government's push for infrastructure development and digitalization has further accelerated growth, establishing India as a key logistics hub in Asia. In July 2017, a separate logistics unit was created under the Department of Commerce to oversee the Integrated Development of Logistics Sector. The National Logistics Policy (NLP) was launched in September 2022 to create a more seamless logistics ecosystem by improving efficiency and reducing logistics costs. As part of this reform, digital initiatives like the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) and the Logistics Data Bank (LDB) are now fully operational, aiming to enhance ease of doing business and enable tracking of containerized Export Import (EXIM) cargo. PM GatiShakti Master Plan was launched in October 2021 to integrate different modes of transport into a coordinated network. The PM GatiShakti has brought together 57 Central Ministries/Departments and all 36 states and union territories. It has also integrated massive 1,700 data layers, creating a truly unified and comprehensive platform for infrastructure planning. The Ministry of Railways is currently developing two Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs), namely, the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor(EDFC) from Ludhiana to Sonnagar (1,337 km) and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal (JNPT) to Dadri (1,506 km). Out of the total 2,843 kms, 2741 Route Kilometers (96.4 per cent) are operational as of March 2025. The corridors are expected to accelerate industrial development and create significant employment opportunities in logistics and related sectors.

The India of tomorrow is one that doesn't depend on global goodwill — it commands global respect As we mark India's 79th year of Independence, the nation stands at a critical inflection point—one where economic nationalism is no longer just a political sentiment, but a powerful strategy to reclaim our place as a global manufacturing, innovation, and supply chain powerhouse. India's journey from being a consumer economy to becoming a creator, builder, and exporter of world-class products is well underway—and at the heart of this transformation are bold policies, digital technologies, and homegrown, innovation-led companies driving structural change. In a world recalibrating supply chains and resetting economic priorities, India's assertive push toward economic self-reliance—backed by initiatives like Make in India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, PM GatiShakti, and PLI Schemes—signals a new era. This is not protectionism, but purposeful, pragmatic, and progressive economic nationalism—one that strengthens India's domestic capabilities while deeply engaging with global trade and investment ecosystems. From PM GatiShakti's National Master Plan for multi-modal logistics to the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme and National Logistics Policy, India is rewriting the way economies are built—from the ground up. These aren't just infrastructure upgrades—they are economic enablers. Seamless logistics, greenfield smart industrial cities, plug-and-play facilities, and technology-driven platforms like the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) are reducing project delays, improving supply chain resilience, and enhancing India's global competitiveness. In this transformation, Parashar Future Technologies and similar tech-led Indian companies are playing a catalytic role. Leveraging AI, automation, and data analytics, we're creating solutions that reduce costs, improve precision, and empower MSMEs to participate in global value chains with confidence and scale. Production-Linked Incentives Perhaps no initiative illustrates India's economic reorientation better than the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes. Spread across 14 strategic sectors—from electronics and automobiles to pharmaceuticals and white goods—PLI is more than a fiscal tool; it's a confidence statement to the world. With over Rs 1.76 lakh crore in realised investments and more than Rs 16.5 lakh crore in production output, PLI schemes have generated over 12 lakh jobs, revitalised industrial clusters, and drastically reduced import dependence across critical sectors. Consider this: India's mobile phone exports have surged nearly 775 per cent in the last four years, making the country a key global manufacturing hub. Similarly, under the PLI for medical devices, high-end products such as MRI machines, CT scanners, and heart valves are now being made in India. This not only reduces costs and saves foreign exchange but also positions India as a resilient alternative to traditional global suppliers. Smart Nationalism Today, true nationalism lies in building capabilities that serve our people and place India on the global map as a trusted partner. By mandating Quality Control Orders (QCOs), regulating Minimum Import Prices, and decriminalising archaic business regulations through Jan Vishwas, the government is sending a strong message: India is open for business—but on fair, future-ready, and high-quality terms. The growing use of data-driven decision-making, simplified digital platforms like the National Single Window System, and investments in warehousing standards and infrastructure are strengthening the business environment. These moves aren't about isolating India—they're about protecting its interests, unlocking its potential, and amplifying its voice globally. Innovation-Driven Enterprises As a founder deeply embedded in the tech-manufacturing landscape, I see an incredible shift. Indian companies are no longer merely service providers—they're solution architects, product innovators, and global collaborators. We're seeing a surge of science-backed startups, med-tech ventures, and AI-driven manufacturing solutions—all working in sync with national priorities. Tech-enabled and innovation-led enterprises like Parashar Future Technologies are aligning with government initiatives to build IP, create jobs, strengthen MSMEs, and boost exports. The focus is not just on 'Make in India" but 'Design, Engineer, and Innovate in India"—creating a virtuous cycle of growth that benefits every layer of our economy. Nationalist Economy, Global Respect India's economic strategy today is a blend of aspiration, alignment, and agility. Our recent signing of the Supply Chain Resilience Agreement under IPEF, negotiation of strategic FTAs, and expansion of logistics and industrial infrastructure are positioning us as a formidable pillar of the global economy. Importantly, this strategic nationalism is inclusive and forward-looking—with deliberate efforts to enhance ease of doing business, strengthen women's entrepreneurship, and build a skilled, future-ready workforce. The cumulative impact? A nation that is both self-reliant and globally relevant. Political Freedom to Economic Sovereignty As we celebrate India@79, our freedom must now be measured not only by political independence, but by economic sovereignty, innovation-led growth, and the strength of our domestic capabilities. Economic nationalism today is about ensuring that the products we build, the technologies we export, and the opportunities we create serve every Indian—while making the world take note. The India of tomorrow is one that doesn't depend on global goodwill—it commands global respect. By combining visionary policymaking, resilient infrastructure, quality regulation, and the ingenuity of our tech ecosystem, we are building a Viksit Bharat that is homegrown, high-quality, and globally competitive. The message is clear: India is not just rising—it is redesigning the rules. And we, as proud partners in this journey, must innovate, invest, and lead from the front.
