Tyson Fury issues instant response to Moses Itauma stopping Dillian Whyte
Itauma destroyed Whyte inside two minutes in Saudi Arabia to confirm his standing as boxing's next heavyweight star Tyson Fury hailed Moses Itauma as the 'future of boxing' after his devastating stoppage of Dillian Whyte. Itauma blew away Whyte with a devastating first-round knockout in their all-British heavyweight clash in Riyadh. The 20-year-old extended his perfect record through 13 professional fights as he sent veteran Whyte sprawling to the canvas inside two minutes. Former WBC interim heavyweight champion Whyte, 37, was not given any time to settle as Itauma – who had been made to wait in the ring by a delayed walk-in from his British rival – immediately went on the front foot. Southpaw Itauma tested Whyte with a flurry of early jabs before more precision shot combinations sent him back onto the ropes. Another powerful right hook sent Whyte crashing to the floor and although he stumbled back onto his feet, the referee stepped in to wave off the contest with just over a minute left of the first round. On the back of another hugely impressive display, the calls will continue to grow for Slovakia-born Itauma to be handed a world title shot in 2026. And Fury was quick to take to social media to hail the young Brit. "There he is, the future of boxing," he wrote. "I've been saying it for years." Itauma has won all 13 of his professional fights, finishing 11 of his opponents early, and has already been tipped to fight undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. But he told the BBC: "That's what I've been drilling for 12/13 weeks. I put on a performance for you guys so it's now who's next? I don't want to call out Usyk because I don't believe I deserve the opportunity but guys that do deserve the opportunity, I want to fight those lot. So maybe Agit Kabayel, maybe Joseph Parker. Maybe them type of names." Itauma added at the post-fight press conference: "I'd love to get rounds in and Dillian Whyte was meant to give me rounds. I don't want to be bigheaded but it's not really my fault. I'm going to keep doing what I'm able to do and keep shining. Nobody thought I would knock him out in the first round. "I've been boxing since I was nine years old; I've been boxing more than half my life. It might seem like an overnight success but I've been working on this for 11 years."

Moses Itauma names three possible next opponents after Dillian Whyte demolition
Moses Itauma confirmed his position as one of the brightest young talents in boxing on Saturday night and attention has quickly turned to what is next for the 20-year-old. The much-anticipated clash with former world title challenger Dillian Whytedid not get out of the first round, with Itauma stopping the Body Snatcher after just 119 seconds. It was a ruthless display of speed and power as the young star retained the WBA International and WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight titles, while winning the Commonwealth belt. Now 13-0, there are already calls for the 20-year-old to take on undisputed, unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, calls which he is hearing. 'What is next?' Itauma said on DAZN. 'I will fight anyone they put in front of me. '[The crowd] are saying [undisputed champion Oleksandr] Usyk. The team mentioned they want me to get some rounds out. Any of them can happen.' The crowd may be saying Usyk, but Itauma does not feel he is ready just yet to take on the brilliant Ukrainian. The 37-year-old Whyte is comfortably the best win on Itauma's CV and he wants to add to his collection of victories before stepping up to Usyk. He said: 'I put on a performance for you guys so it's now 'who's next?' 'I don't want to call out Usyk because I don't believe I deserve the opportunity, but guys that do deserve the opportunity – I want to fight those lot. 'So maybe Agit Kabayel, maybe Joseph Parker. Maybe them type of names.' Parker is in line to face Usyk next as the mandatory for the WBO title, although there has been no agreement on that fight just yet. The 33-year-old is coming off six straight wins, including victories over Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang and Martin Bakole and certainly appears the most deserving to have the next crack at the unbeaten champion. If Usyk, for whatever reason, does not fight Parker and vacates the WBO belt then it could be the New Zealander taking on Itauma for that strap next. Parker was certainly impressed by the rising star, telling BBC Radio 5: 'He put on a great display in terms of power, aggression and picking his shots. For a 20 year-old to be under the lights, he took the pressure on. 'I would love to share the ring with him one day and we probably will.' More Trending Promoter Frank Warren explained before Saturday's fight that Usyk had asked for an extension in negotiations with Parker as he deals with an injury. 'He (Usyk) put a letter in yesterday stating that he's asked him for an extension period, because he's injured, before being ordered to do anything,' Warren told Sky Sports. 'Whatever happens the fact of life is Joseph Parker will either fight as champion if Usyk vacates or he will fight Usyk for the title. 'If Moses or Dillian win, they're in the No 1 spot and if the fight with Usyk and Parker doesn't happen then Joe (Parker) will have to fight the official number one contender.' Sean McComb will go down the IBF route for a World title if he can claim European success in September
Sean McComb's journey to getting another world title shot has been escalated greatly by the announcement that he will be fighting for the super-lightweight European title on September 27. The Belfast boxer narrowly lost a controversial split decision to Arnold Barboza Jnr in 2024 in a world title eliminator fight and, for reasons unbeknownst to McComb, the WBO removed him from the world rankings entirely afterwards.
