TV presenter Rachel Riley has opened up about how witnessing a friend's experience with domestic abuse made her appreciate her relationship with husband Pasha Kovalev more.
Rachel and Pasha first crossed paths when they both participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2013. Fast forward six years, the couple tied the knot and now share two children, Maven and Noa.
In an interview with The i Paper, Rachel, 39, shared how observing a close friend go through such a traumatic ordeal made her value what she shares with 45-year-old Pasha.
The Countdown star said: "Watching a friend experience domestic violence made me realise how lucky I am. It made me appreciate that my home – and Pasha – is my sanctuary.
"My friend has managed to change her situation, but the process has been horrific, and it's opened my eyes. I am so lucky to have a lovely home and to be able to set a good example for our kids of what a nice relationship is.
"We have a partnership and security and that's my thing. Pasha is really solid. I'm so lucky. We respect each other. We find each other interesting. We make each other laugh and we talk about all sorts of different things."

Rachel added: "We come from completely different backgrounds, so we have a different outlook, and we bounce off each other.
"I have changed him and he has changed me, and we can say things openly that the other one might disagree with or might not understand, but we can always talk about things."
Beyond helping her recognise how fortunate she is to have Pasha in her life, Rachel has also felt compelled to champion domestic abuse charities wherever possible.
She explained: "I have become an ambassador for a couple of domestic abuse charities, because I was so shocked by what happened to her."

This marks another occasion where Rachel and Pasha have opened up about their marriage in recent months. Back in March, the pair spoke to BristolLive about the secret behind their thriving marriage, revealing how they incorporate sport to maintain the spark.
Pasha shared: "We try to do it every week, at least once a week, we've been successful so far. [Rachel] loves playing, I [had] never played it until I started doing it with Rachel, but it's great exercise, it keeps you active, it keeps your heart going. Plus, she gets lots of positivity from it because she always wins.
"I think those things are so helpful in a relationship. Find what you like together and start doing it together, even if it's once in a while.

X Factor's Honey G showcases impressive weight loss after 'life-changing' moment
X Factor alum Honey G is back with a brand new tune and took to social media to showcase her dance moves alongside TV presenter Hayley Palmer Former X Factor star Honey G has shown off her impressive weight loss as she shared her latest song release. The rapper, 44, rose to fame on the popular ITV talent show in 2016. She has since candidly revealed she has struggled with her weight previously. However, she has now proudly confessed that she has dropped from a size 18 dress size to a size 12 - and claims it has upped her "body confidence". Honey, whose real name is Anna Gilford, was seen dancing to her new track titled Nothing To Me on a roof terrace in London. She was alongside TV presenter Hayley Palmer. It comes as the full Strictly Come Dancing lineup has been confirmed. Honey shared the clip on Instagram. She captioned the upload: "Our take on the Nothing to Me dance. Mine & @hayleypalmer_presenter 's rendition – my new single - dropping this Saturday!' She also added the hashtags 'shake your booty' and 'bootylicious'. In the video, Honey wore a small pair of floral-patterned shorts and a vest top. She also donned an oversized pair of sunglasses as she danced to the tune. Fans were quick to praise the star for her fun post. One user in the comments section gushed: "honey g your [sic] still an icon." They added two flame emojis. Another user also added a comment of four flame emojis, while another added: "Aww check yooooo," with a raised hands emoji. The TV personality previously explained she had "changed her body" after a series of gym routines during the Covid pandemic. She added she had also taken up running. Speaking to Daily Star in 2023, the musician said: "I had a personal trainer for a year and a half, almost two years and we worked a lot on strength training and I started to see, coupled with all the running I was doing, I started to see my body change." Honey confessed at the time: "That's why not a lot of people recognise me in the street anymore, it says online I'm unrecognisable which is true. "But yeah, I'm not saying I miss being chased through a shopping centre by school kids, but seriously, in all honesty, when I started to see body shape change, it spurred me on even more.' She also told Closer magazine: "I used to wear loose and baggy clothes that went up to a size 18, but I've thrown most of them away as my taste has matured. Now I wear outfits I wouldn't have dreamt of wearing, and I can fit into nice underwear from Victoria's Secret." Despite not being a regular on television these days, Honey G has kept herself busy. She has been seen performing at clubs and festivals throughout the UK.

Ross King brings foot bath to first day of Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals in a bid to avoid sore toes
It was only the first day of Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals yesterday – but some of the show's class of 2025 are already making sure their feet remain in pristine condition. Good Morning Britain and Lorraine's Los Angeles reporter Ross King even took a £30 Revlon Pediprep spa with him to the London studios. The device promises a 'relaxing, bubbling foot massage'. It is well known that celebrity contestants on the BBC show suffer bruises and lost toenails as they compete for the glitter ball trophy. King, 63, was joined at the rehearsals by his new co-stars, including former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw, 39, and La Voix, 45, star of RuPaul 's Drag Race UK and broadcaster Dani Dyer, 29, daughter of ex-EastEnders star Danny. Meanwhile, former England women's footballer Karen Carney, 38, and Game of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn, 49, were yesterday announced to complete the line-up of the new series, which starts next month on BBC One. Nairn, who stands at 6ft 9ins, is perhaps the show's tallest contestant ever. He played Hodor in the HBO fantasy series and is also known for his role as Wee John Feeney in the HBO comedy Our Flag Means Death. Amongst the celebrities gearing up for practice was former The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner [right] Among the celebrities gearing up for practice was former The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner, who earlier in the day had hit back at 'woke' critics complaining of his signing to the show. Critics had demanded the BBC revoke his invite to join Strictly Come Dancing 2025 because he met JD Vance, with some Strictly fans bombarding the Beeb with complaints and vowing to boycott the show. Taking to X on Friday, Thomas, 34, addressed the backlash, penning: 'Some call me 'controversial,' but I think it's just a dig at normal, hard-working people if I'm honest. But we don't let that stop us. We keep going, we look out for each other, and we use it to drive us forward.' In his message, he shared his excitement as heading filming Strictly for the first time, noting he was 'proud as anything', before thanking his fans for their support. Thomas also revealed he has to 'keep the wheels' and work as he's got three kids and a wife to support, before cheerfully signing off and inviting anyone local to have 'a pint' with him later. The businessman flashed a dazzling smile as she climbed out of his car and joined his fellow stars for the start of their Strictly journey. Meanwhile, the Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers were on fine form as they too arrived, led by Dianne Buswell. The flame-haired beauty was certainly in great spirits as she turned up alongside the likes of Nancy Xu and brand new pros Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon. Meanwhile, Nadiya Bychkova was seen for the first time since her horror fall earlier this week. The Ukrainian dancer, 35, was reportedly taken to hospital on Tuesday after falling and landing on her back during rehearsals. The star was training in north London when she was left in agony after injuring her back, with crew forced to phone an ambulance. However, after updating her fans on her condition, the blonde bombshell was back to her best as she joined her fellow pros for rehearsals.

BBC's Survivor is 'AXED after just one series' despite bosses splurging £30 million on the reboot series
The BBC has reportedly pulled the plug on big-budget challenge series Survivor, despite splashing the cash on the reboot. The reality show which had a prime time slot straight after Strictly Come is understood to have cost the BBC £30 million, failed to win over UK viewers, averaging just 2.6million when it aired last October. After months of speculation, host Joel Dommett confirmed the axe and admitted to The Sun: 'It just shows you how nothing is a given in telly. I thought Survivor would be huge. I thought that would be my job for the next 20 years.' The TV presenter, 40, added: 'I've done shows and thought that's not coming back and it keeps coming back and then you do something like Survivor, which you think is guaranteed and it doesn't come back.' The challenge show sees contestants live on a remote location where they are tasked with fending for themselves by sourcing food and water, building shelter, and making fire, all while trying to earn rewards and immunity from being voted off the island. The hit format has enjoyed global success, especially in the US, where it's run for 25 years, but it seems the UK version, failed to translate. Despite a previous attempt by ITV, which ended after two series in 2001 and 2002, the BBC tried to revive the format when it premiered last October and filmed in the Dominican Republic. It is thought producers had hoped to cash in on the nostalgia of the early-2000s version, but bosses were left scratching their heads at the lack of love for a concept 'beloved around the globe'. The cancellation comes just a year after filming wrapped, with a source telling The Sun that executives had been debating the show's future since its lukewarm launch. Despite the flop, Joel remains in high demand and is set to front the National Television Awards in September and star in ITV's new Celebrity Sabotage. Earlier this month The Daily Mail reported that the BBC did seek potential contestants for a second series, at the end of last year, via their 'take part' page. However, a note on the Survivor UK website says casting has now been paused, adding: 'As things stand, we are not processing or taking any further applications at this time.' Staff on the show have all moved to other projects. Paul Osborne, who successfully brought Big Brother to Channel 5, was the showrunner for the BBC, and took soundings from format consultants around the world about how it should be updated. Osborne said at the launch: 'There were lots and lots of things we learned from other territories, while we were also able to put our own stamp on this. 'There is a little more strategic gameplay with the new version that is palpable for a modern audience.' Survivor was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC's head of entertainment, who described its return as a 'renaissance rather than a reboot'. She had hoped it would attract an audience similar to the Beeb's smash-hit The Traitors. Sixteen episodes were filmed in 34 days, with 100 camera crew from the UK, plus more than 400 local workers. The £100,000 top prize was won by graduate Matthew Hayward, from Cumbria. The two original series had a prize of £1 million.
