"I was in for a whole day, a procedure type thing. Colonoscopy, everything. So they're happy enough."
The 61-year-old explained how he got a fright when waiting for his results in hospital.
He said: "They [the doctors] were saying they couldn't see that [diverticulitis], and I may have got E. coli, and then I was like, 'Okay'."
Karl added: "You know what's so weird? I go up to collect them afterwards, and you kind of go, 'This could be bad news'."

And Alan has a positive attitude as he waits for those results to come back.
He said: "They're being sent off, but he said, 'I'm sure they're fine'. But it was a bit scary, a bit touch-and-go. But it's grand."
Alan explained that himself and his husband we're delighted to be celebrating 10 years since since Ireland voted for marriage equality in 2015.
He said: "We're so proud of the people of Ireland who came out and did the right thing."
LOW-KEY WEDDING
When asked if the pair, who have been
"So I don't think we'll do anymore. We would have done it at 30 years, maybe, but we had a party instead.
"It was so funny, we'd about 280 in the round room for our civil partnership. And we had two people at our wedding, my brother and Karl's sister. They were our witnesses and that's all we did, and we told nobody."
Karl revealed: "He really told me three days beforehand it was happening, 'We're getting hitched on Friday'."
'BIG ONE'
Alan, laughing, added: "No, I didn't!"
He explained: "See, we couldn't have topped the civil partnership. I mean, it was an amazing wedding. And how you went down a guest list without people who were at the first one feeling they got knocked out of the second one.
"We had Brian Kennedy and the Dublin Gospel Choir singing in the church with Mary Byrne, and all the drag queens. And like, how would you repeat that again? A lot of people would be utterly disappointed. So you're just like, 'No, we're not gonna do that again'."
The couple have been producing Christmas pantomimes for 27 years and this year, they're performing Cinderella, which is a "big one".
Alan teased the "spectacular" performance saying: "We've got some big announcements to come. We're very excited.
"It's our fifth year in the National Stadium. We've got amazing names to announce... like, iconic names."

Love Island star gives advice to Megan Forte Clarke before she enters the villa
Love Island star Catherine Agbaje has advised Dubliner Megan Forte Clarke to stick with the girls when she enters the villa. Catherine, who appeared on the 10th season in 2023 and was also a finalist on the second season of Love Island: All Stars, said she was so happy to see an Irish woman going into the Spanish villa. The 24-year-old panto star is hoping to bring the drama to the villa from June 9 and has already been compared to former bombshell Maura Higgins. Speaking about Megan, Catherine said: "Dubliners are friendly, and she'll get along with everyone. "I'm just happy to see someone from Dublin again in the villa. I feel like you need a Dublin person." Catherine was in Dublin on Tuesday with fellow Love Islander Toby Aromolaran, who was a runner-up on the seventh season of the reality dating show in 2021 and also appeared on Love Island: All Stars last season. Speaking about Megan, Toby admitted he doesn't know if English guys can deal with Irish girls. "The thing is can English guys deal with Irish girls? You know?" he asked. "Yeah, we're feisty," said Catherine, laughing. Catherine said being Irish going into the villa is a culture shock at first. "I feel like obviously being from Ireland, going into the villa, you don't know what to expect, because, obviously you don't know it's a whole different culture out there. "You know, it's a whole different set of rules. But I feel like she'll be fine, like I feel once you go in there yourself, you make friends with the girls. "And Irish girls are such 'girls, girls'. So I feel like she will be a 'girl's girl', and that will stand to her." Speaking about her own experience when she came out of the villa at the time, Catherine said she needed a second to breathe and take in the chaos. "Mine was 50/50," she admitted. "Like, when you come out for the first time, you just get a 'wow'. Because you don't know, you've never been in this world before, and then you're also dealing with a lot of opinions. So like, you're trying to address, and then everyone around you is like, 'Oh, what happened?' "You just need a second." But Toby said he found the overnight fame very funny. "Mine was kind of different, because I came out in like, a relationship in it, so we kind of leaned on each other, which was a lot better than just coming out by yourself, because I feel like that the pressure of that is hard, even though the pressure of relationships is quite hard as well. "But I quite enjoyed it to be honest. I thought it's quite fun, like something different, out of the ordinary, like a different situation I've never been in, so I kind of leaned into it in a way. "Yeah, I found it funny half the time," he admitted. Catherine and Toby were speaking ahead of Love Island returning from June 9 at 9pm, with Maya Jama coming back as host of the reality TV show. ‘A massive heartfelt thank you' – DJ Suzanne Kane issues statement as both she and Brian Dowling leave 98FM
The Dubliner had been on leave since February, leaving co-host Brian Dowling to present the programme alongside guest hosts. Minutes after Suzanne took to Instagram, Dowling also made a statement. In today's post on Instagram, the mum-of-three said: 'A little life update (isn't that what they call it?) "After nearly 5 years, I'm stepping away from my role presenting 10AM to 1PM on 98FM. Anyone who knows me, will know how much I adore radio and the Bauer family inside Marconi house, but for now, it's time to let the 'Good Times' roll for someone else. 'A word to the amazing team, I loved the madness and radio nerdiness that we all shared and how much we cared. Radio is really special and that's because of the people who do the heavy lifting to make it all come together. I'm glad to have been on this rollercoaster with you all. 'To everyone who listened to the show. I loved sharing my life and my kids with the soundest listeners on 98FM. We've been through a lot together & thank you for always turning up for me, it means more than any of you will know.' She continued: 'Lastly, a quick word to my kiddos Oisín, Hannah & Sadie. Thank you for letting me have a go of my dream radio job and playing ball every morning, even the really tough ones, so I could be in front of the mic by 10am and of course, Joey- the voice of support, the constant, the reassurance, who always has the reminder 'We'll figure it out, we always do'.' Suzanne has nearly two decades in the industry. Brian's statement read: 'I made the decision earlier in the year that I would not be continuing co-hosting on Brian Dowling & Suzanne Kane on @98fmdublin making this Friday, June 6, my very last show on Brian Dowling & Suzanne Kane. "When I joined Suzanne back in March of 2023, I had ZERO radio hosting skills. Blake was only 6 months old & baby Blu was only a twinkle in our eyes. It took me a minute to get into my new groove, but when I did, WOW, I honestly have had the best time & have genuinely laughed every day; even on those bad days, being part of this show ALWAYS puts a smile on my face. "Here we are now 2 years & 3 months later & I'm still laughing & smiling. I have learned so much about an industry I've been in for nearly 24 years, presenting mainly television shows but now my love for radio easily equals my love for telly. "A MASSIVE HEARTFELT thank you to the team, Russell and Cathal. You guys make the show what it is, and especially to you, Pat Gill, for making this experience UTTERLY JOYFUL for me. "Also, to you, James Brownlow, thanks for taking the risk on me It has never ever felt like work; I mean, how could it when I'm playing the likes of Britney, S Club & JLO, to name but a few I am so looking forward to a slower Summer; I'm not actually sure if I can operate on a slower pace. "Normality will continue on Six and of course, shooting the rest of The Salvage Squad this summer, as well as some trips away I've planned; in fact, it's turning out to be a very memorable Summer. "The BIGGEST THANK YOU goes to our listeners; you guys are the best, as you have kept me company 5 days a week for the last 2 years & 3 months. Your daily messages have brightened my days from 10am - 1pm. "Goodbyes are not something I'm very good at, but this doesn't feel like a goodbye at all; it's more of a talk to you later. This is Brian Dowling & you are listening to 98FM.'

DJ Suzanne Kane breaks silence as both she and Brian Dowling leave 98FM
RUMOURS OF RIFT | Former Big Brother star Brian Dowling also took to social media. Neither thanked the other In happier and Brian were thrown together in 2023 but it didn't work out The popular Dubliner had been on leave since February when she allegedly made complaints about the behaviour of her co-host Brian Dowling. As we exclusively reported back in April, Kane had reached the point she could no longer work with the former Big Brother winner and chose to take some time off while the station bosses undertook an investigation. Rumours online had been circulating for months about the circumstances of Kane's surprise absence and the nature of Dowling's treatment of her and the Breakfast Show's staff, but the star repeatedly refused to answer our texts and calls. Minutes after Suzanne took to Instagram, Dowling also made a statement.
