Ajit Pawar launches Pune city traffic app
Pune, June 14 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and guardian minister of Pune district Ajit Pawar on Saturday launched an app developed by the Pune city Police Commissionerate for a real time two-way communication between the citizens on the move and the traffic police to get immediate information about the traffic situation to prevent snarls and enhance ease of driving.
The PTP TRAFFIC COP APP has been developed based on the concept of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. Additional Commissioner of Police of Eastern Regional Division of Pune city Manoj Patil presented information about this app through a video.
The inaugural event was organized at Vidhan Bhavan which was attended by divisional commissioner Dr Chandrakant Pulkundwar, police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, his counterpart in Pimpri Chinchwad Vinay Kumar Choubey, special inspector general of police of Kolhapur range Sunil Phulari, Pune Municipal Corporation commissioner Navalkishore Ram, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shekhar Singh and others.
Among the many urban problems in Pune, the city people mainly face traffic jams and accidents caused by it. Pollution caused by traffic has become yet another big problem. One of the main reasons is the lack of effective action against drivers who violate traffic rules.
In this app, citizens can upload photos of drivers who commit serious traffic violations such as parking vehicles on sidewalks, driving on the footpaths, violating heavy vehicle restrictions, using mobile phones while driving, driving a triple seat vehicle, using black films, using fancy number plates and driving in the opposite direction from no entry passages.

International cyber fraud racket involving Nepali, African nationals busted
NEW DELHI: A 37-year-old Nepali national and another person were arrested for providing bank accounts to African nationals involved in cyber fraud, police said on Saturday. The case came to light after a woman reported receiving a friend request on social media from someone claiming to be from the UK. They became friends, and the imposter later shifted the conversation to WhatsApp using an international number. He promised to send her expensive gifts for her birthday. Later, the imposter claimed the gifts were seized by customs and demanded Rs 1.10 lakh to release them. The woman transferred the amount to a bank account he provided. 'The account holder was tracked across Sitapuri, Dabri, Uttam Nagar, and Vasant Kunj. On June 4, Aslam (22) was arrested,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia. During questioning, Aslam revealed he had opened the account under instructions from Nepali national Santosh Rana, who paid him Rs 5,000. Rana, arrested from Vasant Kunj, allegedly arranged fake accounts by convincing locals with commission offers. He sold these accounts to African nationals living in areas like Mehrauli and Munirka. Iran launches new wave of attacks on Israel in response to Israeli airstrikes: official media
Tehran, June 15 (UNI) Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched late Saturday night a "large-scale combined offensive operation" against Israel, involving a significant number of missiles and drones, the IRGC's official news outlet Sepah News reported. The IRGC's aerospace division carried out the attack, stating it was in response to Israel's "repeated aggressions" against Iran, according to Sepah. In Israel, a rocket struck a residential building in a northern community, killing one woman and injuring 13 others, according to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national emergency medical service. Several others sustained moderate to light injuries, and four individuals were treated for anxiety, MDA said. Earlier in the day, MDA reported that at least three people had been killed and 204 others injured since the beginning of the Iranian offensive. Following the latest wave of attacks, Israel's Home Front Command advised residents outside the Haifa and northern regions that they could exit bomb shelters but should remain close to protected areas. The Israeli military stated that its air defense systems were actively intercepting incoming projectiles, while Israeli air force units were carrying out strikes on military targets in Tehran. Iran's Ministry of Petroleum confirmed that two oil depots in Tehran were hit during the attacks. Residents reported two powerful explosions in the capital, with blasts felt in both the western and northern districts. The ministry said the situation was "under control." Meanwhile, Jordan temporarily closed its airspace late Saturday as a precautionary measure following the Iranian missile barrage. The country's Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission announced that the step was taken to ensure the safety of civil aviation. The Iranian offensive came in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes conducted early Friday, which targeted Tehran and several other cities. Iranian authorities said the Israeli strikes resulted in the deaths of multiple senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, and dozens of civilians. UNI/XINHUA BM
