Texas A&M and Texas head coaches comment on the ejection of Aggie first baseman Gavin Kash
In a tense and already emotional game, sparks flew in the middle of the seventh inning when Texas A&M infielder Gavin Kash got into a verbal spat with Texas outfielder Will Gasparino before heading back to the dugout.
There is some history between the two. Last season, Gasparino appeared to shove Kash, then playing for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, in the back after a ground at first base, causing both teams to clear the dugouts. Cooler heads prevailed, keeping the situation from escalating further.
After a meeting with the officials, it was decided that Kash would be ejected from the game and suspended from Game 3. A&M head coach Michael Earley was visibly upset, and after the game, he and Longhorn head coach Jim Schlossnagle spoke about the incident.
'It wasn't instigated by Kash at all, 'It was instigated by their center fielder. Our coach heard it. Because of that ejection, I'm going to lose the guy that I'm going to start at first base tomorrow. That's a really tough thing in these games where the margins are so small. It's really unfortunate for him.' - Earley
'I didn't see it…I went to get a drink and I hear a bunch of barking which is normal, then I saw Kash yelling at the dugout. I don't know who instigated that. Certainly, he played here and then went to Tech and then A&M, so I don't know Gavin. I don't know what the history is, but it's unfortunate' - Schlossnagle
Per Travis Brown of KBTX, NCAA Rule 15.6.c states, a player cannot leave his position 'to potentially participate in a verbal altercation or a physical confrontation (e.g., pushing, shoving, bumping) or a fight.' The positioning is determined by where the individuals involved were located when the incident began.
Texas A&M will close out the series in Game 3 on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN2.

Steelers' Broderick Jones isn't ready for LT yet: 'I think I need a couple more weeks'
Broderick Jones needs a few more weeks until he's ready to start at LT — and he'll be the first to admit it. After practice at mandatory minicamp, Jones was asked by reporters to share how the offseason practices have been going — and here was his response (courtesy of Steelers Live): "I think it went as good as it could go," Jones said. "You know, with everything going on — with me moving back to [LT] from [RT]. I still got a couple more weeks to hone in on my skills and continue to develop on the left side — and come in ready for [training camp]." A few questions later, Jones was asked if he'd be ready to start games at LT tomorrow — and he was brutally honest about his current abilities: "If I'm being honest, I think I probably do need a couple more weeks," Jones said. "Not saying I'd be bad, but just for me. Just to feel like I'm in the mindset to play an actual game — versus somebody else other than going against Alex Highsmith or Nick [Herbig]." The Steelers are hopeful that switching Jones back to his natural position at left tackle will help get the 2023 first-rounder back on track — as he gave up the second-most sacks in the NFL last season from right tackle. 2025 Texas Rangers Recap: Week 10
Season Record: 29-31 Week Record: 3-3 Series Record: 7-11, 1 split GAME 55: 1-2 Loss vs Toronto Blue Jays GAME 56: 2-0 Win vs Toronto Blue Jays GAME 57: 0-2 Loss vs Toronto Blue Jays GAME 58: 11-1 Win vs St Louis Cardinals GAME 59: 0-2 Loss Win vs St Louis Cardinals GAME 60: 8-1 Win vs St Louis Cardinals I very hesitantly ask... is Marcus Semien back? Advertisement Against the Cardinals, Semien went seven for eight with three walks and a homer. It had been obvious, and Bruce Bochy pointed it out too, Semien's slump was not for lack of trying. It was very clear he was trying, too hard. He was reaching for pitches clearly trying to go the other way, doing almost anything to break the slump. Clearly he got stuck in his head. Going four for four in the opening game of the Cardinals series felt like a sigh of relief, for the fans, Semien, and Bochy. Next on the list to get out of their own head? Adolis Garcia. He did not play at all in the weekend series against St. Louis and was not in the lineup on Tuesday opening in Tampa. That is six days of rest, which I understood a few mental days, six days has me wondering if it's potentially something more? Advertisement Overall, I think Garcia has improved on his offense and defense from last season. Granted the offensive numbers don't necessarily show that but he seems to be a little more patient at the plate and seeing pitches just a tad better, trying to go the other way, and striking out a lot less. Obviously his defense has improved tremendously with the amount of highight plays he has made thus far. Corey Seager is once again back from an IL stint and hopefully that hamstring is nice and rested and gives no other issues. The lineup is just much stronger with him Nathan Eovaldi has been moved to the injured list with tricep tightness, which seems to not be a huge concern which is excellent news for a team that is still heavily relying on their starting rotation.
