THE British Soap Awards returned to screens last night after having been mysteriously axed for 2024.
The ceremony, screened on ITV, was dominated by EastEnders who picked up a total of eight awards, including the prestigious Best British Soap.

Jane McDonald was back in the hosting seat having taken over from axed TV star Phillip Schofield in 2023 and the night appeared to go off without a hitch.
However, The Sun can exclusively reveal a number of moments which were pulled from ITV's final broadcast - including a series of faux pas' from former soap stars as well as heavily edited speeches from Jaime Winstone and Patsy Palmer.
One moment that failed to make it to air involved former soap star Jan Pearson, who played Karen Hollins in now axed BBC soap Doctors.
She made a triumphant comeback to the Soap Awards stage following the programme's cancellation in order to present the gong for Best On-Screen Partnership.
Jan was stood alongside co-star Chris Walker to hand out the gong to EastEnders duo Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter.
However, she was forced to read out the nominations a total of THREE times.
And whilst one audience mole suggested on X the re-records took place as a result of the loud cheers for Corrie pair Vicky Myers and Alison King, The Sun can reveal an entirely different reason was behind the triple taping.
Actress Jan suffered an on-stage coughing fit which saw her struggle to read out the names of the nominees.
She gave it three goes but was affected by her tickly throat each time.
The second and third attempts were both filmed after the gong was handed out with the audience already aware of exactly who had won.
British Soap Awards viewers accuse ITV of 'cutting out' chants for EastEnders actress
Elsewhere, whilst hostess Jane was on top form for most of the evening, there were a handful of occasions where she was forced to do a series of re-takes despite the ceremony supposedly filming as live.
One audience member told The Sun: 'The warm-up guy made it clear from the start that they were recording the ceremony as live and so everyone had to be on their best behaviour.
'It also put a lot of pressure on Jane as she was expected to rattle through her hosting duties without a hitch but with so many links to record, she was bound to mess up on a few of them.'
Just moments after the show kicked off, Jane was forced to re-record one of her links about hunky Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts.
The actor, who plays lothario copper PC Kit Green, caught Jane's eye and she was quick to make a joke about his good looks.
However, she tripped up over her own words and was left rad-faced as she admitted she had become too flustered thinking about Jacob.
The audience erupted into laughter as Jane attempted to brush off her hilarious mishap and instead re-told her joke just seconds into the event.
The moment left Jacob looking down at the ground after unexpectedly becoming the centre of attention.
Someone else who suffered an embarrassing blunder was awards presenter Denise Welch.
She was also forced into re-filming her entire segment after a blunder with her very own CHEE award.
As part of a skit, Denise was handed a joke prize by Shirlie Kemp to mark her achievement of having played roles in all four major soaps.
The trophy was made out of items connected to each of the four soaps but Denise held her prize back to front meaning the audience and cameras could not see what she was referring too.
Just before handing out the award for Best Newcomer, Denise was halted by bosses and instructed to re-do the entire segment again and have the trophy facing the crowd.
One onlooker told The Sun: 'Denise was referring to the trophy being connected to all four soaps but no one could see anything.
'It led to a lot of blank and unimpressed expressions on the soap stars faces when the cameras cut to a close-up hoping to get a hilarious reaction from them.
'It fell a bit flat but Denise was able to pick the mood back up when she was told of her error.'
During the ITV broadcast, clever camera trickery saw the award facing the correct way as Denise gave her speech.

Patsy Palmer's X-rated speech about her vagina also saw some editing after she made a slew of vulgar jokes after accepting the award for Best Comedy Performance.

Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, told her heartbroken boyfriend George she didn't love him anymore before hopping in a cab with son Jason and announcing: 'I'm moving to Thailand.' Eileen was greeted to a big treat by the Street Cars drivers, who beeped as she drove away. George was left in tears, having confronted Eileen with his suspicions that she wasn't attracted to him anymore. George was due to fly to Thailand with Eileen - and fans couldn't believe he'd throw away the money he spent on the ticket. Others slammed the idea of Eileen as a barmaid in Thailand, and moving halfway across the world on a whim. 'It's hilarious how they make moving so simple in soaps… 'She couldn't just up and leave to live permanently in Thailand without the correct visa,' one fan wrote. 'Can't see Eileen as a Thai barmaid,' another added, while a third joked: 'Seems they're giving Eileen a boring, miserable exit!' Long-time viewers also felt the storyline was a letdown compared to Eileen's dramatic past. 'Remember when Eileen got her head stuck in the railings? This has been mostly dull and miserable — which sums up Eileen in recent years,' one fan said. Even George's tearful goodbye was mocked, as one said:'George! You're not a murderer, a liar, thief, womaniser… that's why Eileen isn't interested in you, hon!' She also made the decision to make a fresh start in Thailand after being worn down by being suspected in her sister Julie's tragic death. In Friday's episode, Eileen's mind is turned to leaving the cobbles after hearing Theo's impassioned speech to his daughter Millie. Theo explains to his teenage daughter, that he can't return to live with her mum, his ex, because "it didn't feel right," after realising he was attracted to men and wanted to see where is his relationship with Todd went. George realised how Theo's speech moved Eileen and went to confront her after she'd been at the police who had just cleared her of any wrongdoing in Julie's death. The Sun exclusively revealed in January that she had quit the show after 25 years on the Salford set to look for new acting opportunities. 'The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly,' she explained. One of Sue's major next steps is to become a a regular panellist on Loose Women after first appearing on the daytime panel show in 2023. Sue took a break from Corrie last year to star in Sister Act The Musical as Mother Superior and appeared in reality show I'm A Celebrity in 2022. Last year, Sue released her memoir A Work In Progress and revealed she was embracing being in her 60s.

'I've been trying for years to get a nod for comedy cos I've never been nominated for it before.' Colson then probed: 'And how are you feeling about the result? Your frenemy...' Jack admitted: 'It was a shock. It was a shock. If you watched it, you will notice that my reaction is genuine. 'I'm completely blown away. I didn't win. I couldn't hide it.' Bursting into fits of laughter, Ben, 53, who plays Jack's onscreen brother Nick Tilsey joked: 'I was sat behind you and I'd gone. 'I couldn't think of anything more funny then not winning the comedy and then Patsy winning it who'd been in Big Brother with you - and then name checking you saying "I thought Jack would win"' To which Jack exclaimed: 'And then I said "So did I!"' Ben then asked: 'Were you fuming? Was that your fuming face?' 'Yeah' said Jack. 'I was just blown away. I was as much blown away as winning Big Brother as I was losing that award.' Speaking on his podcast On The Sofa with co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith (pictured) Jack admitted while he congratulated the winner, he was 'shocked' and felt the award should have been his, as he declared the was 'fuming' Meanwhile Patsy left both the crowd and viewers at home in stitches during the British Soap Awards, as she went off in a tangent about vaginas during her award acceptance speech It was the BBC 's EastEnders that cleaned up on the night with eight awards while Hollyoaks received three, Emmerdale two and Coronation Street only one. Meanwhile Patsy left both the crowd and viewers at home in stitches during the British Soap Awards, as she went off in a tangent about vaginas during her award acceptance speech. The actress, 53, won the prize for Best Comedic Performance at the annual ceremony, held on Saturday night at London 's Hackney Empire. As she took to the stage to accept the gong, Patsy got rather sidetracked, as she deliver an ode to vaginas, that had the audience breaking down into laughter. She made the X-rated remarks in reference to EastEnders' live 40th anniversary special, which saw Bianca having to help sister Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) give birth after they became trapped in the Queen Vic with cousin Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) following the explosion. The scene had viewers cracking up as Bianca and Lauren argued over who had to help, with both reluctant to get up close and personal with the birth. It culminated with Bianca taking a huge glug from a bottle of brandy for some liquid courage, before declaring the now-iconic line: 'It's only a noony Lauren!' Referencing the hilarious moment, Patsy began her speech: 'Listen I haven't prepared a speech, because I really thought Jack was gonna win. 'To be able to funny in all what of we've seen tonight is nothing short of miracle really. I'd like to thank Shona McGarty for leaving, because if she hadn't have left I wouldn't have come back. 'I wasn't expecting that and I'm so glad I did because then I stayed for the 40th and that was really where we celebrated the women's vagina!' However, Patsy didn't stop there, valiantly continuing on to add: 'I think vaginas have always been funny.' She then changed tone to express her thanks to show and even choked back her tears, as she gushed: 'All jokes aside, coming back to EastEnders after quite some time has been the most amazing experience for me and I'm so grateful. Beyond grateful. 'And I'm not going to cry, so I'm going to go, because it is a comedy award. But you really have no idea what a gift it's been for me to come back.' Coronation Street fans slam 'dreadful' exit for Eileen Grimshaw after 25 years

It was an emotional night in Coronation Street tonight, as Eileen Grimshaw waved goodbye to Weatherfield after 25 years - but some fans wanted a better exit for the star It was the end of an era on Coronation Street tonight, as Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) waved goodbye to the street she'd lived on for 25 years. Actress Sue Cleaver joined the ITV soap in 2000, when her character moved into number 11 with sons Jason and Todd Grimshaw. However, some fans weren't impressed with her exit scenes. The character quickly became a fan favourite, winning numerous awards for her portrayal of the role, and her feud with Gail Platt (Helen Worth) will go down in history. ‌ However, after 25 years, it was time for Eileen to wave goodbye to Weatherfield, and hello to Thailand as she made a big move. ‌ It comes after a tough time for the character, who was being suspected in her sister Julie's tragic death. In tonight's episode, Eileen was cleared by the police of any wrongdoing in Julie's death. She then decided to make the move to Thailand, and invest in her son Jason's bar. It wasn't the only big change for the character, as she ended her relationship with George after admitting she only loved him as a friend. In her final scenes, Eileen who worked at the StreetCars taxi service alongside Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), was seen hopping into the back of his cab with Jason. Showing their appreciation, Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and the other cabbies lined up the taxis on the street, honking their horns and saluting her as she waved out the window. ‌ Despite the 'touching' scenes, some fans weren't happy about the exit Eileen was given after 25 years, as they expected more. One penned: "This will go down in history as one of the most drawn out exits ever," as another wrote: "This is a dreadful last episode for a long term character." "Well, that send off, wasn't very exciting," tweeted a third, while another agreed: "Goodness. Eileen's exit storyline is very, very, VERY bland." However, others took to the social media platform to praise the exit. "Wow todays episode of Corrie had me happy crying what an ending for an iconic character," wrote one fan, as another said: "Loved how all the taxis lined the street to wave eileen off. Nice touch." Previously speaking about her exit scenes, Sue gushed that the ITV soap had given her "the perfect ending." Speaking on Kelvin and Liz Fletcher's Off Script podcast, the star said: "When I read it and saw it, I was really emotional. It's the perfect ending. It is everything that I wanted."
