Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 10 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday said that the 11 years of the Modi government mark a 'golden era' for the growth and development of India.
Addressing a press conference at Gujarat BJP headquarters here along with Union Minister and Gujarat BJP President CR Patil, Chief Minister Patel said, 'On behalf of Gujarat and its citizens, heartfelt congratulations to PM Modi on completing 11 years as the Prime Minister. These years mark a golden era of growth for India. People now trust the government more because of its consistent and inclusive development.'
CM Patel recalled how PM Modi had pledged to prioritise the welfare of the poor and marginalised when he assumed office. He has fulfilled that promise with legal reforms and welfare initiatives.
The Chief Minister praised PM Modi's leadership for the surgical and air strikes that ensured internal security and established peace. He also said, 'Gujarat has benefited from a 'double engine' government under PM Modi's central leadership.'
He further stated, 'India's first bullet train project is being executed in Gujarat. Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat trains have started operations, and the state has achieved 100 per cent electrification of railway lines. Rajkot and Surat have international airports, and Ahmedabad has been recognised as a World Heritage City.'
Speaking about Gujarat's progress under various Central government schemes, CM Patel said, 'Under the Smart Cities Mission, six cities from Gujarat have been selected. Gujarat is evolving into a global industrial hub, thanks to initiatives like the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, leading to increased employment. Gujarat is leading in fields like machine learning, AI, and semiconductors. Defence aircraft manufacturing has begun in Vadodara. PM Modi has gifted Gujarat with institutions like Gati Shakti University, IN-SPACe, and the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine.'
Praising Prime Minister Modi, the Chief Minister stated, 'Under his leadership, India is tackling global challenges like climate change with green growth initiatives. Asia's largest hybrid renewable energy park is coming up in Khavda, Kutch. To increase green cover, the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign was launched, and Gujarat planted 17.5 crore trees. The state contributed significantly to groundwater recharge through the Catch the Rain campaign.'
'Thanks to various agricultural initiatives, 10 lakh farmers are now practising natural farming. PM Modi's focus on women empowerment has led to 4.5 lakh women in Gujarat becoming 'Lakhpati Didis.' Tourism and culture have also grown. His 11 years in office represent a golden chapter of India's development,' he added.
The Chief Minister concluded by expressing confidence that Gujarat will continue to benefit from PM Modi's vision even in the journey toward a developed India by 2047.
Addressing the media, Union Minister CR Paatil said that after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, PM Narendra Modi is the only leader to have served as Prime Minister for 11 continuous years, and the work done in these years surpasses the work done in the 16-18 years of previous regimes.
He further said that India saw true inclusive development first in Gujarat and now nationwide. PM Modi's 11 years in office have been extraordinary and will be recorded in golden letters. He transformed the country's political culture, which earlier revolved around appeasement and division for political gains.
Patil described Modi's government as a responsible one, which the people trust fully. The entire world is now looking at India with hope. India's presidency of the G-20 was made possible by PM Modi's capable leadership.
He said, 'The BJP government has ensured that all the benefits of good governance and welfare policies reach the people. Under Modi's leadership, decisions were taken boldly and efficiently, whether it was the abrogation of Article 370 or the criminalisation of triple talaq. Under his tenure, India built the world's highest railway bridge in Jammu and Kashmir.'
Speaking on the economy, Paatil noted that India moved from the 10th to the 5th largest economy, and is now progressing toward becoming the 4th and eventually the 3rd largest. During the Congress era, India had an economist Prime Minister, but it was PM Modi who took the economy forward significantly.
He added, 'Over 81 crore people are receiving free food grains under the Garib Kalyan Yojana, and 25 crore have been lifted out of poverty. PM Modi ensured potable water to over 15 crore rural households under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, and Rs 6,000 annual aid to farmers under PM Kisan Yojana.'

But we can continue only with your support. Contribute now New Delhi: Ahead of the G7 summit, India said on Thursday (June 12) that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Canadian counterpart, Mark Carney, would discuss a reset in ties grounded in mutual 'sensitivity', even as Carney confirmed raising with Modi the ongoing probes into alleged Indian involvement in criminal plots on Canadian soil. Last week, Carney spoke with Modi and extended an invitation for the forthcoming G7 summit in Kananaskis in western Canada. Modi accepted the invitation, which came just over a week before the summit begins on June 15. It was a dramatic turnaround in relations that had been frozen for 20 months since former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that Indians agents were involved in killing Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police accused Indian agents of targeting Canadian nationals. During the weekly briefing on Thursday, external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the forthcoming bilateral meeting between Modi and Carney would 'explore pathways to reset the relationship based on mutual respect, shared interests and sensitivity to each other's concerns'. He added that India's views 'on some of these issues have already been shared publicly in considerable detail'. In contrast to Modi's announcement that only spoke about working together with 'renewed vigour', Carney had to immediately defend his invitation before the media. 'We have now agreed, importantly, to continued law enforcement dialogue. So there's been some progress on that, which recognises issues of accountability. I extended the invitation to Prime Minister Modi in that context, and he has accepted,' he said last Friday in Ottawa. When asked about Carney's mention of a dialogue between security agencies, the Indian foreign ministry spokesperson stated, 'There are existing mechanisms between Indian and Canadian law enforcement agencies that have discussed issues of mutual security concern over a period of time. This engagement is likely to continue.' India had previously claimed on several occasions that Canada had 'created an environment for illegal migration and organised criminal activities'. When asked whether India would raise this again, Jaiswal first listed points of commonality with Canada. 'I also [said] that we are two democracies. We are bound by the rule of law. We have an expansive economic engagement. We have large people-to-people connections. We have a big student community there. We have companies invested in both sides. We have technology collaboration, so there's a lot more, lots that can be discussed and for both countries to gain from each other's engagement,' said Jaiswal. Then, he said that on 'anti-India activities, whether it is Canada or anywhere else', India 'expect[s] our international partners to take into account our concerns and act accordingly'. Meanwhile, Carney is still facing questions about the invitation. In an interview to Radio Canada, he was asked whether he spoke to the Indian PM about the ongoing police probes, including the Nijjar case. 'Yes, I have,' he said, as reported by CBC News. The Canadian leader added that the legal case will continue and 'India knows that'. He added that Canada had made progress with India bilaterally and that 'they are OK with having a legal process between law enforcement entities'. Carney reiterated that Canada wants to discuss energy security, critical minerals and artificial intelligence with world leaders, and it's 'hard to have those discussions without India'. Ruling Liberal party lawmaker Sukh Dhaliwal, who represents the constituency where Nijjar was killed, had been critical of the invitation. As per Canadian media, he had a meeting with Carney on Wednesday to express his constituents' concerns. Dhaliwal said Carney is 'very strong' and would represent concerns about Indian interference and transnational crime when speaking to Modi. 'I'm saying it's not a good idea, but now he's invited. We have to move forward,' he said. Canada has listed countering ' foreign interference and transnational crime ' as a key priority for the upcoming G7 summit. Besides India, the other non-G7 invitees to the summit are the leaders of Ukraine, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, South Africa, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Sensex slides over 800 points as global tensions resurface

Representative image (ANI) MUMBAI: Geopolitical factors, primarily talks of an imminent Israel attack on Iran, left global investors jittery, impacting those on Dalal Street on Thursday. As a result, the Sensex closed 823 points down at 81,692 points, with L&T, Infosys , and ICICI Bank contributing the most to the index's loss for the day. The day's session also left investors poorer by nearly Rs 6 lakh crore, with BSE's market capitalisation now at Rs 449.6 lakh crore, official data showed. Tariff-related uncertainties and rising crude oil prices also weighed on investors, market players said. On the NSE , Nifty closed 253 points lower at 24,888 points. According to Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Investments, consolidation in domestic markets is evolving into a broad-based trend, now extending to large-cap stocks. "Valuation concerns and rising oil prices, driven by West Asia tensions, are fuelling risk aversion among investors. Adding to the uncertainty, the US is considering unilateral tariff hikes on several key trading partners, with a decision expected within the next one to two weeks, ahead of an early July deadline. " In Thursday's session, foreign funds were net sellers of stocks worth Rs 3,831 crore, while domestic funds were net buyers at Rs 9,394 crore, BSE data showed.
