Boris Becker has said that his maiden Wimbledon title in 1985 as a 17-year-old not only resulted in positives, and that his inner strength helped him throughout his tennis career and life.
Becker became a German and global sensation with his triumph 40 years ago. He went on to win two more Wimbledons and a total six grand slams, and was world number one.

Looking back ahead of Monday's start of the latest Wimbledon, he told Stern magazine that "the whole country embraced me" after the 1985 success.
"It was certainly meant kindly, but they almost crushed me and took away my air to breathe. I was always a freedom-loving person, and suddenly this freedom was gone," Becker said.
"People suddenly looked at me with different eyes, even my parents. Boy, what were you doing there? That was their attitude. My parents had known me for 17 and a half years up until then, but they didn't realise that I had this strength in me."
Becker said this strength helped him throughout life on and off the court.

"I survived as a prodigy. I survived the 17-year-old Boris Becker and everything that came after that," he said.
I have this character trait: I survive. You can put me in the jungles of Vietnam - I'll find a way to survive. You can put me in prison - and I'll find a way to survive."
This also helped him get through a prison term in Britain after being convicted for for withholding assets in a bankruptcy case.
"As they say: in a serious crisis, you're all alone. Yes, that's how
it was with me," he said.
However, he highlighted that his current wife, Lilian De Carvalho Monteiro, with whom he now lives in Milan, remained by his side.
'That is remarkable, because she could only be interested in me as a person because I had nothing else to offer. I had never met a woman like her before," he said.

Apple Sports App Gets Tennis and More Updates

Apple continues to expand its sports offerings for mobile users. On Wednesday, the company announced new updates to the Apple Sports app that include a revamped home screen and the addition of tennis ahead of the Wimbledon championships. All the changes were launched on the app today. This tennis season, you can check out live scores (or from past tournament rounds) for men's and women's matches. Apple Sports will allow you to track points and player advancement throughout events like Grand Slam or Wimbledon. Though the app doesn't currently offer the ability to follow individual players, tournament information can be showcased on the home display if you add and customize the tennis options. Sports fans will notice that the home screen is now organized by whichever leagues you keep up with. For example, if you follow MLB, you'll see a more personalized display for your favorite teams, with game stats for yesterday, today, and information for any upcoming events. If you're following multiple sports and leagues, -- including tennis -- you can re-order which ones show up first on your screen and the app will adapt to your preferences. Paul Kelly Revives John F. Kennedy Jr.'s Suited Bike Look for Ryan Murphy's ‘American Love Story'

Paul Kelly was spotted in New York City on Monday on the set of Ryan Murphy's forthcoming FX series 'American Love Story' in costume as John F. Kennedy Jr. The actor portrays the son of President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the show, alongside Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. On the set of the series, Kelly was seen wearing a navy suit with a coordinated tie and a collared white button-down dress shirt with brown dress shoes and a white pocket square. Along with the suited look, Kelly was photographed wearing sunglasses and a black hat. Kennedy Jr. seen in Manhattan in suits riding his bike. Known for his sleek, tailored looks, the images are an iconic extension of the New York City fixture and district attorney. 'When JFK Jr. was younger, in the '80s and '90s, there was kind of an effortlessness to his wardrobe — like he could wear anything, and sex appeal would always be there,' designer and newly minted Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson told WWD. Dag Granath, cofounder of Stockholm-based tailoring brand Saman Amel, has also noted how JFK Jr.'s legacy extends to today, referencing the prominent Kennedy family member as 'one of the historic figures within politics that clients might reference.' The '80s and '90s in particular made JFK Jr. a style icon. Murphy's iteration of Kennedy and Bessette-Kennedy's story, however, already received scrutiny from fans for costuming choices and representing the tailored '90s fashion for which both late figures were so well known.
