Father's Day is just days away, taking place this Sunday. That means time is running out to plan the perfect day for your dad or loved one.
The Daily Record previously rounded up a collection of whiskies perfect for a Father's Day gift. We also chose Scotland's 'whisky capital' as our latest Town of the Week, ideal for a Father's Day getaway.
However, sometimes simpler is better and all you want to do is head out on a good hike. For that reason, the Daily Record has chosen a Scottish beauty spot perfect to head to with your loved one on Father's Day as our latest Walk of the Week.
Beinn Dubh is a prominent hill situated near the picturesque village of Luss along the shores of Loch Lomond. From its summit, it offers magnificent vistas out over the iconic loch.
The walk was named among the best in the country by VisitScotland. The experts praised the hill's "rewarding" views.
The walk begins in Luss itself, from where you will walk through idyllic woodlands until you traverse the Glen Striddle horseshoe route. Walking along the ridge, you will be able to see the Arrochar Alps, The Cobbler, Beinn Ìme, and Doune Hill.
According to VisitScotland, the walk can take anywhere from 3.5 to five hours to complete. By the end, you will no doubt have worked up quite the appetite—and luckily Luss is home to a renowned restaurant.
With Father's Day falling on a Sunday, The Loch Lomond Arms is the perfect spot to sit down for a hearty lunch. The restaurant's Sunday menu includes beef, ham, and chicken roasts—as well as a range of sides.
VisitScotland wrote: "For those feeling adventurous, the climb up Beinn Dubh and the Glen Striddle horseshoe route offers rewarding views over Loch Lomond and the surrounding Arrochar Alps."
The tourism board added: "After that epic climb, you'll have earned a hearty meal! Dating back to the 17th century as a coaching inn, the Loch Lomond Arms is part of the Luss Estates, so their menu features quality Scottish produce from their own land, garden and grounds.
"The hotel and pub is full of rich interiors, cosy nooks and open fires to rest and curl up with a wee dram."
Read on for a few photos showing why Beinn Dubh is a great choice for a Father's Day hike. The full list of "10 stunning pub walks in Scotland" can be found on the VisitScotland website.

Magnificent Scottish road trip named among the UK's greatest

Located in the Western Highlands, the Torridon to Applecross route was named alongside trips across the country, including Keswick to Loweswater in Cumbria and Porlock to Lynmouth in Exmoor. Praised for the "stupendous" views along its path, such as those of the Isle of Skye, the drive is said to be the "most dramatic" part of the NC500. Why this Scottish road trip with 'magnificent' scenery is one of the greatest in the UK Bealach na Ba, or the Applecross Pass, is one of the steepest roads in the UK and is a real challenge. (Image: Getty Images/iStockphoto) Discussing the route, The Times said that the roads along Scotland's West Coast "undulate and twist, providing different framings at every turn". It added that the best of these are found within the Applecross peninsula, where travellers can enjoy amazing views of the surrounding landscapes. It also poses a challenge for those brave enough to tackle one of the steepest roads in the UK. Bealach na Ba, or the Applecross pass, enjoys "stupendous" views as well as "torturous hairpin bends". The Scottish route ends at the popular Applecross Inn, right on the waterfront, making it the ideal place to rest after the long drive. Strome Castle was recommended as a great detour from the route. (Image: Tripadvisor) Popular blog Undiscovered Scotland has also commended the road trip, placing particular praise on its "magnificent mountain scenery". It suggested a number of excursions from the 84-mile route, including those to Strome Castle and the small village of Toscaig. The former, which was built in the 14th century and changed hands many times before it was besieged and destroyed in the 1600s, enjoys stunning views of Loch Carron from its rocky outcrop, according to the National Trust for Scotland. Recommended Reading: It has also received praise on Tripadvisor, where visitors gave it a 4.1/5 out of 57 reviews. One person said: "There isn't much of the castle left, but the views from the top are stunning and it's worth a visit if you are in the area. "Parking is limited, but it's a very quiet area with few visitors, so it shouldn't be an issue." Another simply added: "Absolutely gorgeous views".

Scottish spot named one of Europe's best for stargazing

Only two places in the UK were highlighted, with Glencoe and Northumberland National Park being featured in the ranking. The village of Glencoe has long been a popular place for travellers thanks to its position between the "towering mountains" of Glen Coe, according to Visit Scotland. These were formed over millennia by shifting glaciers and volcanic eruptions. The village is also next to the banks of Loch Leven and has been called the "perfect base" for exploring the Lochaber area, which is also known as the Outdoor Capital of the UK. When will the Perseid meteor shower peak in Scotland? Royal Museums Greenwich has said that the Perseid meteor shower will peak tonight (Tuesday, August 12). The shower, which will be visible until August 24, is said to be "one of the most dramatic things to see in the night sky between July and August".
