Kota MADANI to save civil servants RM1,000 monthly in Putrajaya
Speaking at the project launch in Precinct 19, Dr Zaliha explained that government quarters under the scheme will cost only around RM400 per month through salary deductions. She highlighted additional benefits, including proximity to schools and enhanced security, allowing families to walk safely.
'Fuel expenses can also be minimised, enabling civil servants to allocate more savings for their future,' she said during the event officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Addressing concerns that Kota MADANI might replace Putrajaya, Dr Zaliha clarified that the project covers just 0.8 per cent of Putrajaya's total area. 'Putrajaya remains a symbol of modern administration, while Kota MADANI enhances liveability and inclusivity,' she added.
The development integrates MADANI and CHASE principles, focusing on walkability, AI technology, and sustainability. It will include 10,000 new housing units to alleviate the current shortage, with 17,000 applications pending.
Dr Zaliha emphasised that the MADANI Government is prioritising civil servants' welfare, contrasting past neglect. 'A support officer paying RM1,500 in rent and RM500 for fuel will see life-changing benefits,' she noted.
The RM4 billion project, managed by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd, follows a public-private partnership model without initial government funding. Also present were Chief Secretary Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Putrajaya Corporation president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud.

CPO Futures Close Higher On Stronger Export Data
By Rosemarie Khoo Mohd Sani KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- The crude palm oil (CPO) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (BMD) ended higher on Friday, buoyed by stronger export performance as outlined by cargo surveyors, said palm oil trader David Ng. According to cargo surveyors, Intertek Testing Services (ITS) and Amspec, exports for the first half of August rose by 16 per cent and 21 per cent, respectively, compared with the same period in July. However, Ng said the expectation of rising output in the coming weeks is weighing down on sentiments. 'We see prices supported at RM4,380 per tonne and resistance at RM4,500 per tonne,' he said to Bernama. Meanwhile, Mumbai-based Sunvin Group commodity research head Anilkumar Bagani noted that Malaysia's strong August palm oil export, along with a resurgence in Chinese demand, has supported palm oil prices today, despite the bearish overnight soybean oil market on the Chicago Board of Trade. At the close, spot-month August 2025 was unchanged at RM4,338 per tonne, September 2025 rose RM67 to RM4,425 per tonne, and October 2025 increased RM69 to RM4,472 per tonne. The November 2025 contract rose by RM75 to RM4,511 per tonne, December 2025 expanded by RM78 to RM4,528 per tonne, and January 2026 climbed RM75 to RM4,526 per tonne. Trading volume slid to 81,890 lots from 88,920 lots on Thursday, while open interest rose to 249,718 contracts from 244,194 contracts previously.

Decades-long wait ends as Melaka hands over 47 approval letter for railway reserve land
ALOR GAJAH: After more than 30 years, the issue involving railway reserve land in Pengkalan here has been resolved, with the Melaka government handing over 47 approval letters for state land application, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. He said the handover ceremony reflected the state government's concern in understanding the community's needs and ensuring that every policy and development project delivers a positive impact on the people's lives. "A total of 45 applications involved the Pengkalan railway reserve land that had been delayed for three decades, and two plots for temples. "Also approved was Tenaga Nasional Bhd's (TNB) application to place a substation on Plot 1, Mukim Kelemak, Alor Gajah district, which will provide electricity to residential, commercial, hospital, and government office areas, benefiting more than 3,050 users," he said today. He said this at the handover of the approval letters in conjunction with the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme for the Rembia state constituency, which was also attended by the coordinator for the constituency, Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan. He said this year, 96 state land applications have been approved in the district, followed by the issuance of Notice 5A by the land administrator. Notice 5A is an official document informing applicants of the fees due, including document preparation and registration costs, that they must pay to obtain the land titles. "It is on this land that new homes will be built, gardens will be filled with flowers, children will run and play, and families will gather every weekend. "Its value is not merely measured in square feet, but in the space to build a life and pass down a legacy of peace to future generations," he said. He said the state government imposes land premiums below market rates, ranging between RM9,000 and RM25,000, depending on the land size, compared to hundreds of thousands of ringgit.
