OPEN// FM reiterates Egypt's categorical rejection of any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza
CAIRO, April 16 (MENA) - Foreign, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Minister Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's categorical rejection of any plan to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need for an immediate return to the ceasefire agreement signed on January 19.
Abdelatty was speaking during a news conference with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski following their talks on Wednesday, which covered a raft of regional files, atop of which is the question of Palestine, the core of the conflict in the Middle East, and the current situation in the war-torn Gaza Strip.
During the talks, the Polish foreign minister was briefed on Egypt-proposed Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, which has gained international support, Abdelaaty said.
"We agreed on the need to work together to stop the war in Gaza, and fully reject any plans for displacement from the Gaza Strip, and work towards a political process that paves the way for the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the only guarantee to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and end the suffering of the steadfast Palestinian people," Abdelaaty added.
Abdelatty said the Polish minister's visit reflects the distinguished and close relationship between both countries, which culminated in the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to Egypt in May 2023.
He noted that the talks also covered the outcomes of the second session of the Egyptian-Polish Economic Cooperation Committee, Poland hosted in December.
"We look forward to the upcoming session in Egypt before the end of this year," Abdelatty said. (MORE)
