Fiona Slicer walked the Glasgow Kiltwalk in honour of her mum who is battling cancer - landing herself a £30k car prize.
A kind-hearted Scot has been handed a £30,000 towards a brand new car, thanks to her fundraising efforts at this year's Glasgow Kiltwalk.
Fiona Slicer, from Linwood near Glasgow, was one of the 19,000 walkers who participated in April's Kiltwalk through the city. She was automatically entered into a prize draw for a life changing car credit prize from Arnold Clark, who sponsored the event.

The 44-year-old completed the 14-mile walk to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity, where her mum, Catriona, is currently undergoing treatment for mantle cell lymphoma.

In an emotional turn of events, both Fiona and the Beatson have each been awarded £30,000 to put towards an Arnold Clark car.

The surprise took place last month when Fiona was invited to her aunt's house in Erskine thinking she was helping her dad, Andy, care for her mum following chemotherapy at the Beatson.
Unknown to Fiona, the Kiltwalk and Arnold Clark team had secretly arrived at the house with the specially branded Kiltwalk car – complete with feather flags and a giant red bow – to break the news that she had been chosen as this year's winner.
Gordon, her husband, as well as her cousin, nieces and other family members, were also in on the act and gathered to witness the emotional moment Fiona was told the incredible news.
Fiona said: "I honestly couldn't believe it. I walked the Kiltwalk for my mum and the Beatson who've been amazing. I was lucky to do the walk with my cousin, Annette, who considers my mum as her mum too and I couldn't pick a better walking partner.

"This year's been so tough for our family, and we never expected anything like this. It's such a generous prize, and I'm just so grateful.'
Russell Borrie, Chief Executive Officer at Arnold Clark, said: "We're absolutely thrilled to hand over £30,000 of credit towards a new car to this year's Glasgow Kiltwalk Car Reward winner, Fiona.

'This is a very well-deserved prize, and we are sure Fiona's entire family are extremely proud of her fundraising efforts for the Beatson Cancer Charity, supporting all the wonderful work they do to help those affected by cancer.
'Congratulations once again and we hope you enjoy your new car!'
Maisie McCormick, Community Fundraising Manager at Beatson Cancer Charity, commented: "We'll use the vehicle in so many different ways. The fundraising team attend so many events, so this will help transport staff, volunteers and so many different items. It's going to make a huge difference!"
Kiltwalk CEO Paul Cooney added: 'Fiona is a true Kiltwalk hero. She embodies the Kiltwalk kindness that motivates our fantastic community, and we were thrilled to surprise her with this incredible prize thanks to Arnold Clark.'

Fashion deal of the week Looking for a jacket deal ahead of the upcoming autumn season? Then Debenhams has just dropped a staggering 50 percent off the "weather resistant" TOG24 'Marina' Softshell Long Jacket by half-price, reducing the cost from £120 to just £60. Fashion fans looking for something both stylish and practical will appreciate this jacket thanks to its long, sleek design that can be worn everywhere from walking the dog to a trip to the shops. The gently elasticated jacket is said to be "resistant" to wind and rain, with micro-fleece bonding on the inside to prevent any cold air from making its way in, ensuring the weather feels "super cosy." Finished with two handy side zip pockets that keeps hands warm and smaller essentials safely stored, the softshell jacket offers a smart aesthetic that is ideal for travelling, a trip to the office, or protecting an outfit on a night out. So far, the TOG24 Jacket is still available to buy in sizes eight through to 24, with the 50 per cent discount covering all three colours - dark grey, khaki and black. Raving about their purchase, one shopper said: "One five-star review read: "Great coat for the in between weather and showers. Have been wearing it loads and love the green colour as it goes with everything and is a nice change from black and grey that I normally would buy." Shop Debenhams' half-price deal on the TOG24 'Marina' Softshell Long Jacket that is now down from £120 to £60. One of the reviews read: "Love the fit and brown is the new trend for the autumn." The second shopper praised: "Lovely trainers, so comfortable and real leather." While there are no negative reviews for the Suede Trainers, which means we expect them to be popular, since there are no half-sizes, it is worth checking out the sizing before purchasing. Shoppers wanting to save over £690 can purchase New Look's on-trend Tan Suede Lace Up Trainers for £39.9 now.

How to tell the difference between real and fake Labubus and where to get in the UK

The plush dolls that have become this year's must-have accessory have also caused a bit of controversy They are the plush dolls with exaggerated facial expressions that have become a global phenomenon, and unless you have been living under a rock, you will be familiar with their sharp teeth, large ears, and scruffy appearance. ‌ Labubu is the monster, elf-like creature from Chinese toy maker Pop Mark and created by Hong Kong illustrator Kasing Lung that has become a viral sensation, attracting celebrity fans like Rihanna and Kim Kardashian. ‌ Ordinary people are just as obsessed, with the doll hanging from bags and sitting on bedroom shelves all across the world. There have been long queues to snap up the doll, with the mania sometimes even descending into fights. ‌ But all of this begs the question - how does one get their hands on the much sought-after character? And when you do, how do you know if the Labubu is real or fake? Where to buy Labubus The best advice is to stick to authorised retailers and trusted online shops, according to Which?. In the UK, Pop Mart doesn't yet have its own dedicated retail stores, but you can buy genuine Labubu figures through Pop Mark UK, the official retailer of Labubus. Be warned, though, that stock runs out very quickly on the website, so you may have to wait for drops to land. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Pop Mart also has a TikTok shop that stocks Labubu figurines, charms, blind boxes and more. Keep an eye on Pop Mart's TikTok live streams, too, as some shoppers have reportedly had more luck bagging their Labubu that way. If you're down south, Pop Mart's new flagship has just opened at 262 Oxford Street in London. The store sells exclusive drops of the collectable Labubu dolls. Sadly, no similar, brick-and-mortar store has opened north of the border. ‌ What's more, Selfridges apparently now sells the figurines at the Pop Mart Robo Shop pop-up on the fourth floor of Selfridges London. They aren't available online from this retailer. If you're hunting for sold-out or rare Labubus, or want to buy second-hand, consider using sites like eBay, Depop, StockX, the Pop Mart store on Amazon, or other marketplace sites. How to spot a fake Labubu ‌ Although fake Labubus - nicknamed Lafufus - might seem like harmless knock-offs, they can actually be "quite dangerous," according to Grace Florell, who appeared on ITV's This Morning earlier this month to discuss the issue. "Counterfeits often don't have safety labels," Grace said. "Or might not meet the health and safety requirements that make them legal to be sold in the UK... they may contain choking hazards or have chemical warnings". Look for the Pop Mart logo Real boxes and figures will have the Pop Mart logo printed clearly - usually on the box, and often on the figure's base or tag. Real versions should also have a silhouette that lights up if you shine a UV light on to it at its feet. ‌ Check for the Pop Card Every real Labubu comes with a collector card (often called a Pop Card). It features the character's name and illustration, a QR code or serial number and Pop Mart branding. If you scan that on your phone, it will take you to a Pop Mart authentication website where you can verify your toy. ‌ If the card is missing, of low quality or generic, that's a red flag. Examine the quality Official Labubu boxes have high-resolution printing and bold colours. ‌ Watch out for blurry logos, misspelt words, thin cardboard or flimsy packaging. "Real Labubus have a box with a matte finish which is really important," Grace said. "If it's glossy or shiny, that probably means it's fake. "Fake complexions are slightly different, too. The real complexion is muted, pale, and peachy, whereas fakes can be yellow, orange, and pink. The stitching is not as good quality either, and the fur is different, too. "The real fur is soft and fluffy whereas the fake has straighter fur."

Noel Gallagher's adorable six word statement about Liam's Oasis reunion tour performances

The Gallaghers are on the road again and Noel has revealed he is "proud" of his brother on an appearance on Talksport Oasis star Noel Gallagher has said he is 'proud' of his brother Liam and that he forgot how 'funny' he was. The Britpop icons performed two sold out shows at Dublin's Croke park at the weekend following their three-day run at Edinburgh's Murrayfield. ‌ Speaking about their current Oasis Live '25 reunion tour, Noel said he has been overwhelmed by the reaction of their fans. The group announced their reunion tour in August last year, 15 years after their dramatic split in 2009, when Noel quit the band after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, saying he 'simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer'. ‌ Speaking to talkSport's Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent on Tuesday night, the guitarist said one of the best things about being on the road again was to be with his brother: 'Liam's smashing it. I'm proud of him. ‌ 'I couldn't do the stadium thing like he does it, it's not in my nature. But I've got to say, I kind of look and I think, good for you mate. He's been amazing. 'It's great just to be back with Bonehead (Paul Arthurs) and Liam and just be doing it again. 'I guess when it's all said and done we will sit and reflect on it, but it's great being back in the band with Liam, I forgot how funny he was.' The group has already played in Cardiff, Manchester and London, as well as the Dublin and Edinburgh gigs, with dates scheduled around the world including in major cities across the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Japan. Speaking about the tour so far and their opening night in Cardiff, Noel said he was 'completely blown away'. He added: 'I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. ‌ 'It was kind of after about five minutes, I was like, all right, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again? 'I've done stadiums before and all that, but I don't mind telling you, my legs had turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song. 'It's been an amazing thing. Really is an amazing thing. ‌ 'It's difficult to put into words actually. 'Every night is the crowd's first night, you know what I mean? So every night's got that kind of same energy to it, but it's been truly amazing. I'm not usually short for words, but I can't really articulate it. Oasis, best known for Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger and Champagne Supernova, signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993, rising to fame with the release of their debut chart-topping album Definitely Maybe on August 29 1994.
