Houston Texans sign former Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb
Associated Press
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Texans have signed former Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb, the team announced on Monday.
Chubb made four Pro Bowls in seven seasons with Cleveland, but was limited by injuries the past two years. He suffered a left knee injury in Week 2 at Pittsburgh in 2023 and remained sidelined until Week 7 in 2024. He then played in eight games before breaking his foot and finished with 332 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
Chubb could join a backfield that features Joe Mixon. The two-time Pro Bowler had 1,016 yards in his first year with Houston after seven seasons in Cincinnati. The Texas won the AFC South at 10-7 before losing at Kansas City in the divisional round of the playoffs.
The 29-year-old Chubb has run for 6,843 yards since the Browns selected him in the second round in the 2018 NFL draft. He is third on the team's career list behind Hall of Famers Jim Brown (12,312) and Leroy Kelly (7,274).
Chubb rushed for 1,525 yards and 12 TDs in 2022. He has averaged 5.1 yards per carry during his seven seasons. ___

(AP Photo/Manu Fernandez) LONDON (AP) — A new street circuit in Madrid will make its debut on the Formula 1 schedule in September of next year, replacing the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola. F1 announced its schedule for 2026 on Tuesday, setting the first Grand Prix at the new Madring track in the Spanish capital for Sept. 13. Advertisement Spain gets two races for 2026 as Barcelona stays on the calendar for the final year of its contract. It faces an uncertain future after that. F1 has previously said Madrid's race will be known as the Spanish Grand Prix. The new schedule doesn't specify a new name for Barcelona's race, which has been known as the Spanish Grand Prix since 1991. Spain's second race means Italy drops back to having one Grand Prix as Imola leaves the schedule. The historic track, a favorite with drivers, returned to schedule in 2020 as a late addition amid the COVID-19 pandemic and has hosted five races since. Its contract was up this year. The 2026 F1 season will start March 6-8 in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix and concluded with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from Dec. 4-6. ___ AP auto racing:

Davante Adams Sends Clear Message on Relationship With Rams' Puka Nacua
Davante Adams Sends Clear Message on Relationship With Rams' Puka Nacua originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Rams have retooled quite quickly after they went 5-12 in 2022 just one season after they won the Super Bowl championship. Advertisement They have won 10 games and made the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, and thanks to the addition of wide receiver Davante Adams and a cadre of young studs, they have high hopes for this fall and winter. Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler, could end up being an upgrade over the outgoing Cooper Kupp, and fellow Rams wideout Puka Nacua said that Adams is already having a positive effect on his new team. "The positive impact has already been felt from Davante," Nacua said. Adams, in turn, returned the favor on Instagram. "Special dude," his caption read. Davante Adams, Instagram Adams made his name as a member of the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2021 alongside future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. A second-round draft pick in 2014 out of Fresno State, the Northern California native grew into Rodgers' favorite target within a few years. Advertisement The Packers traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the 2022 campaign, and although the Raiders weren't successful with him, he continued to produce at a high level. New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams© Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images Last year, Adams was shipped at midseason to the New York Jets, where he was reunited with Rodgers. Although the Jets went just 5-12, he still managed to catch 85 passes and post 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. The Rams are hoping that at age 32, he still has plenty left in his tank. Assuming he does, he could turn them into a true dark horse team in an improved NFC and make the race for the conference more interesting. Diamondbacks reliever Justin Martinez exits with elbow tightness in 9th inning against Mariners
Associated Press PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Justin Martinez exited in the ninth inning against the Seattle Mariners on Monday night because of tightness in his pitching elbow. Martinez entered to start the ninth with the Diamondbacks leading 4-0 and struck out Jorge Polanco and Randy Arozarena to begin the inning. The right-hander then called for an athletic trainer after throwing a pitch to Dylan Moore. Jeff Brigham replaced Martinez and gave up RBI singles to Donovan Solano and Cole Young before Dominic Canzone tied it with a 450-foot, two-run drive to right field for his first major league homer this season. Acquired from Arizona at the 2023 trade deadline, Canzone was called up from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day and entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh. Juan Morillo retired slugger Cal Raleigh with two runners aboard to finally end the inning. Josh Naylor hit a game-ending grand slam in the 11th to give Arizona an 8-4 victory. ___ A previous version of this story was corrected to show the Diamondbacks led 4-0 when Martinez entered, and that Young's first name is Cole. ___ AP MLB: recommended
