Watch: Michael O'Leary rejects 'vicious' rumour that he delayed flight back to Dublin

Ordering a ham and cheese panini could be enough to get you removed from a Ryanair flight back to Dublin if CEO Michael O'Leary is present having just won the Grand National.
That was the tongue-in-cheek threat in 2019 when his horse Tiger Roll won in Aintree, with the Dubliner telling passengers 'on board this flight we're drinking.'

The video was shared on TikTok with the Ryanair boss telling passengers that there was a 'vicious and unfounded rumour circulating' that the flight delay was due to him wanting to catch the flight back to Dublin.
'Good evening ladies and gentleman, you are all very welcome on board this somewhat delayed Ryanair to Dublin,' Michael said to eruptions of cheers from passengers.
'There is a vicious and unfounded rumour circulating that we delayed this flight deliberately so that I could get back here from Aintree. This is entirely untrue. @horseracingawaydays 🏇✈️🍻Throwback When Ryanair And Tiger Roll Owner Michael O'Leary Bought The Passengers Free Drinks Each On The Flight Back To Ireland After The Grand National, He Received Criticism For Only Buying One Drink Each, So He Raised His Game This Time! 😂 #throwback #michaeloleary #ryanair #tigerroll #grandnational #horseracingawaydays #horseracing ♬ original sound – H⭕️rse Racing Away Days
'Your flight this evening was delayed by a bunch of Germans this morning who were screwing around the ATC so it had nothing whatsoever to do with me.'
A shout from a passenger telling Michael to 'get on with it,' could then be heard with the 64-year-old hitting back that 'it's not too late' for the passenger to be 'offloaded.'
He continued: 'As is tradition on evenings when we win the Grand National, we're having a free bar on board this flight. I got some criticism last year by limiting it to to one drink per person so that the crew could get to the end of the aircraft. O'Leary then extended congratulations to Tiger Roll trainer Gordon Elliot and jockey Davy Russell, who were amongst passengers on the flight back to Dublin. Pic: ©INPHO/Oisin Keniry
'Now you'll have two drinks per person.'
He added that 'if anyone orders a ham and cheese panini or a sandwich, I'm offloading you personally off this flight.
'You can buy your food in Dublin. On board this flight we're drinking.'

'Thank you very much everybody, sorry for the delay but we'll blame the Germans,' he concluded.
The post was met with a range of comments with some hitting out at the airline for their attempts at costly measures while others praised O'Leary.
'He owns Tiger Roll? That horse won me a lot of money a few years back,' one said.
Another added: 'Funny how this video pops up when Ryanair are facing constant backlash over the 10kg bag scam.'
A third wrote: 'Met him, he's the nicest guy ever.'
A fourth joked: 'Tiger Roll but no ham and cheese roll.'

I knocked 5 years off my age with TWO quick beauty swaps – people say I'm in my ‘clean girl' era & ‘look so much better'

Plus, four easy ways to give yourself a glow-down this year YOU GLOW GIRL I knocked 5 years off my age with TWO quick beauty swaps – people say I'm in my 'clean girl' era & 'look so much better' A WOMAN has left people gobsmacked after she knocked five years off her appearance thanks to two quick beauty swaps. It seems that after countless years of rocking cakey make-up, orange fake tan and mega fluttery eyelashes, many women in the world are finally realising that less is more. 2 One beauty buff has left TikTok users stunned with her jaw-dropping makeover Credit: tiktok/@glitchnicole 2 While Nicole revealed she may return to facial fillers at some point, fans begged her not to Credit: tiktok/@glitchnicole The so-called ''clean girl'' aesthetic promotes enhancing natural beauty - rather than covering it up. With a glow-down, out are the hair extensions, fake nails and lash extensions - and in is learning how to take care of your skin to make it radiant. As beauty buffs are learning to love and rock their authentic selves, thousands have taken to social media to show off their epic transformations - including TikTok user Nicole (@glitchnicole). For the past six years, Nicole had been getting facial fillers - and while at the time she didn't care what others had to say about the look, Nicole recently decided she was ready for a major change. ''It made me really happy. But now, I'm in a different stage and I wanted to reverse it - and I just did it,'' she said in a video posted this week. ''It is my body, my choice and my happiness. I'm really happy with my decision now but I'm not going to deny, I was also really happy then - and that is exactly the point. ''You don't always change something because you hate yourself - sometimes you do it simply because you want to, because it feels right for you.'' Nicole added that while she loved that people were ''going natural'', there could be a time where she could return to fillers - if that's what she wanted. As well as ditching fillers for the time being, the beauty buff has also said goodbye to another popular trend - hair extensions. Up until the jaw-dropping makeover, the TikToker was sporting Rapunzel-like hair - which weighed a whopping 400g, she revealed in a follow-up clip. I've lost 9 stone & am barely recognisable from my former self - my transformation's so insane people even think it's AI According to the stunner, the transformation has knocked off ''five years of age'' - and it's all thanks to giving up these two looks. But while Nicole may eventually have facial fillers again, one thing is clear - social media users cannot get enough of her new self. Posted just two days ago, the glow-down has racked up more than 150k views, with hundreds in awe at how much younger she looked. Four ways to give yourself a glowdown Thick fluffly lashes are out, so is the fake tan and long how to have the ultimate glow-down in four steps... The term "glow-down" refers to a woman removing what once was the most popular beauty choices, for a more natural look. Eyelash extensions - Thick, bold "Russian lashes" used to be all the rage, but nowadays, girls are opt for subtle, individual eyelash extensions to lengthen what they already have. Nails - Gone are the long, plastic talons, more women are favouring BIAB or gel manis. Hair colour - Remember when everyone wanted icy white hair? Not anymore! Millions of women are trying to go back to their roots (literally), and have soft blondes, and warm gold tones added to their hair, in a bid to achieve the "old money blonde" look. Makeup - Sculpting your face shape through the art of contouring is no more. Ladies are adding freckles and sweeping blush across cheekbones instead. One person wrote: ''You look SOOO much better. Younger. More vibrant.'' Another fan agreed, adding: ''Incredible honestly!! Best decision you've made to remove them fillers.'' Someone else chimed in: ''An angel got her wings back.'' ''Absolutely YES! You looked like you were already in your 40s!! Now you're glowing,'' a viewer commented. ''I'm Dutch, and even for a Dutch person I can be very straight forward. So my honest opinion: best decision ever and please don't ever do it again!'' a fan begged, ''You look way better, healthier, powerful, elegant, beautiful than before. Well done that lady!''

Ryan Tubridy responds to speculation he will run for the Irish Presidency

Ex-RTÉ star Ryan Tubridy has responded to messages from fans asking if he will be running for the Irish Presidency. The father-of-two has confirmed he will not be running for the Áras this year. The presenter, who currently hosts his own mid-morning show on Virgin Radio UK, broke his silence on the matter, confirming he wasn't planning on running for the gig. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the Dubliner said: 'In answer to many Insta questions, two things I'm NOT doing this weekend: 1) Going to Oasis. 2) Running for President. He added: 'Coffee and crossword for now.' Alongside the comments, Ryan shared a screenshot of a message from a follower which read: 'Come on… run for President!!!! You know middle-aged women vote in Ireland and you know you want to!' Ryan opened up about how tough the Presidential election is in Ireland, saying he is "baffled by the unhinged nature of presidential election coverage". "As someone who has interviewed the last three presidents (and their rivals in the various elections) I am repeatedly taken aback at the level of acrimony, cruelty and let's face it, prurience that goes with the task of running for the Áras," the former RTÉ star wrote in the Mail on Sunday. "The bizarre thing about it is that as soon as the president is elected, the mob stops as if switched off with a button. The President is generally respected and afforded a dignity that tends to go with the ceremonial nature of the august position. "I continue to be baffled by the unhinged nature of presidential election coverage. I understand that there must be scrutiny and that the campaign is one long job interview but is there a need for all that frothing at the mouth? "In the past few days, Mairead McGuinness withdrew her candidacy for health reasons (and I wish her a speedy recovery). For the other candidates (real or imagined) it was gloves off before they barely opened their mouths. The Irish Times went for Tony Holohan as soon as he suggested that his private polling had him at a healthy 15 per cent." The race to the Áras is set to take place in the coming weeks ahead of Michael D Higgins' retirement from the role. President Michael D Higgins will be replaced later this year Among the names hoping for a nomination include Lord of the Dance Michael Flatley, Catherine Connolly, Bertie Ahern, Gareth Sheridan and Mary Lou McDonald. Last week, Mairead McGuinness was forced to pull out of the Presidential Race on medical advice with Catherine Connolly now favourite to win the vote. A presidential election is expected towards the end of October, as it must take place in the 60 days before the term of current president Michael D Higgins ends on November 11. To be eligible to run, a candidate must be an Irish citizen who is 35 or older. They must be nominated either by at least 20 members of the Oireachtas or at least four local authorities. Pilot's strange window-washing technique goes viral

Social media users have been left baffled after seeing a clip of a pilot cleaning the front windows of an aircraft online. The viral moment was shared on video-sharing app TikTok, and sees the pilot standing up out of one of the windows and cleaning window with what appears to be a soft drink. The clip sees the pilot opening a can of Sprite before pouring the drink on the window and then wiping with paper towels. Pic: TikTok Content creator Arianna shared the clip to her page, mamasdeaniebabie, and wondered if the form of cleaning was normal. She wrote: 'Ummm can someone explain to me why this pilot just cleaned the windows with spite?!?' 'Is this like a thing?' she added, 'I'm so confused.' @mamasdeaniebabie Is this like a thing? I'm so confused ♬ Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday – Chels Fellow social media users took to the comments with many just poking fun at the strange cleaning technique. One joked: 'It's actually Red Bull… gives it wings.' Another shared: 'Soda pilot can see out the window.' In actual fact, it is understood that the citric acid in the fizzy beverage works as an aid to dissolve grime, though it is advised to follow up with a rinse with clean water. Pic: TikTok A third offered: 'That's actually not sprite, it's an aviation grade window cleaner that is packaged in cans for portability. I made this up just now.' One person did appear to have the answer, however, explaining: 'Prevents ice from forming at high altitudes. Fun fact, airlines are Sprite's biggest customers.' While that's likely not the answer, many commenters were vexed at not having found the actual answer in the comments section. 'I'm mad none of the comments told me the answer,' one wrote, while another echoed: 'Me actually looking for the answer in the comments but nobody's serious.'
