WCC lauds Urvashi, Sandra & Pushpavathy
Urvashi
and producer Sandra Thomas for raising their voices to challenge the authorities on various issues.
In a social media post, WCC pointed out on Friday that filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan once again exposed his upper-caste, gender-biased views through comments about the cinematic experiences of new women and Dalit directors in Malayalam cinema.
"We fully support Pushpavathy, who courageously raised her voice against the dominant male power that marginalizes women and those living on the fringes," it said.
WCC also commended Urvashi and Thomas for standing tall with their opinions. Urvashi is challenging central govt's film award decision, while Thomas is fighting against the organisation's anti-women stance. WCC condemns the positions held against women coming to the forefront of film organizations, including Shwetha Menon, the statement said. tnn

Laughter Chefs family Bharti Singh, Reem Shaikh and Jannat Zubair celebrate Raksha Bandhan with Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain
Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain, known for celebrating festivals with family and close friends, kept up the tradition this year as well. The couple made the Raksha Bandhan celebration even more special by celebrating it with their Laughter Chefs family. Not just Vicky's sister Varsha Jain, but Laughter Chef 2 host Bharti Singh, and fellow contestants Jannat Zubair and Reem Sameer were also seen tying rakhi to Vicky. Ankita was seen tying Rakhi to her brothers as well as to her Laughter Chef co-contestant Samarth Jurel. Ayesha Khan, who met Ankita and Vicky on Bigg Boss 17 and formed a close bond on the show, also visited the couple's house and tied Rakhi to Vicky. Ankita took to her Instagram account to share beautiful photos from the celebration. The actress explained in the caption of her post, why the festival is so close to her heart, Ankita wrote, "For us, Raksha Bandhan isn't just about a thread, it's about the promise we've kept all our love and protect each other, no matter what."The Pavitra Rishta actress shared some lovely pictures from their 2025 Raksha Bandhan celebrations at home. Ankita added, "Here's a little glimpse into how we celebrated this beautiful bond that means the world to us with the people we call our home.. #happyrakshabandhan," Reem responded to the post with two red heart emojis. Ankita looked stunning in a blue saree, while Vicky complemented her look in a pink kurta paired with white pyjamas. Recently, in an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, Vicky spoke about Laughter Chefs and how everyone takes jokes sportingly, "On Laughter Chef, there are no boundaries like that. Everyone is free to say anything, and more importantly, they also listen and laugh along. Outside the show, people get offended easily or ignore the joke completely. But something magical happens once we enter that set—people transform. You just can't say anything hurtful to anyone. It's all in good spirit. Take Nia for example, people pull her leg all the time, but it's taken with laughter because that's the vibe of the show." Reem Sheikh: I'm the happiest to do the show with Jannat as she's my childhood bestie

New policy to make Delhi a film shooting hub
New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that a new film policy is being framed to position the capital as an international shooting destination. The policy will include a single-window clearance system for approving film and other shoot applications, along with comprehensive plans to develop the necessary infrastructure to transform Delhi into a global film hub. Gupta also announced that an international film festival will be organised in the city and a budget of Rs 30 crore has been earmarked for it. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Celebrating India Film Festival (CIFF) at Siri Fort Auditorium, Gupta said the govt is committed to turning Delhi into a cultural and cinematic centre. "A film policy is being shaped to establish Delhi as an international shooting destination. Applications for film and other shoots will be approved through a single-window system," she said, adding, the govt is planning to develop the film industry in the capital and provide related facilities. The event was attended by several political dignitaries and many eminent figures from the film industry. The govt expects a surge in film shoot applications and plans to fast-track approvals to encourage filmmakers to explore Delhi's locations and stories. She said that this festival has sent out a message that Delhi is now becoming a new centre for film production and cultural expression. "With this new film policy, Delhi will no longer be known just for politics or history, but also for its culture, creativity, and cinematic appeal," she said. Gupta highlighted the irony that while Delhi is home to prestigious institutions like the National School of Drama (NSD), talent still migrates to Mumbai for opportunities. "Why should people learn acting in Delhi only to be forced to seek work in Mumbai?" she asked. The CM said the govt now aims to provide complete support for the film and television ecosystem—from shooting to post-production—within the capital. "Local artistes should not have to leave Delhi. Today's event marks a milestone in that direction," she said. Gupta added that the upcoming film festival will not only showcase films and documentaries from India and abroad but also highlight Delhi's rich cultural diversity. Hosting an international film festival in Delhi will also boost tourism, for which preparations are already underway, she said.
