Bruce Springsteen Scores A New Top 10 Album With A Year-Old Release
Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits reaches the top 10 for the first time in the more-than-year since ... More its release ahead of the rocker's tour hitting the United Kingdom. Bruce Springsteen is currently traveling across Europe, performing on his The Land of Hope and Dreams Tour. Retitled since its 2023 launch, the trek was originally known as the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 2023–2025 Tour, but now he's refocused and is once again playing to massive crowds – and occasionally stirring up controversy when he speaks against Donald Trump.
He began the latest leg of the venture in Manchester in mid-May, then traveled to France before bouncing back to the United Kingdom, where he recently played in Liverpool. His return to the country has helped the rocker immensely on the charts, even earning him a brand new top 10 album.
The simply-titled singles-packed compilation Greatest Hits is surging on the charts in the U.K. thanks to Springsteen's tour. This frame, it reenters two tallies and soars on the Official Album Downloads roster, jumping from No. 80 to No. 7. This week marks the title's first appearance inside the top 10 on the list of the most downloaded full-lengths and EPs in the nation. It reaches this new high point 68 weeks into its tenure (it was released in April 2024) and gives Springsteen his fifteenth top 10 win in the country on this ranking.
Greatest Hits also breaks back onto both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts at the same time, as pure purchases of the compilation have apparently increased significantly. The title reenters the former ranking at No. 49 and the latter at No. 83.
Springsteen sees six of his albums appear on at least one U.K. chart this frame, with multiple comebacks taking place. His fans are clearly ravenous for his biggest hits — so much so that two compilations return. In addition to Greatest Hits, Best Of is also back on a pair of tallies.
Several of Springsteen's traditional albums are also performing well in the U.K., as Born in the USA, The River, Born to Run, and The Land of Hope and Dreams all take up space. A handful of popular tunes like "Dancing in the Dark" and "Born to Run" — longstanding staples in Springsteen's discography — also mount comebacks in what has proven to be a huge frame for the legendary rock musician.

Springsteen's Berlin concert echoes with history and a stark warning
Updated [hour]:[minute] [AMPM] [timezone], [monthFull] [day], [year] BERLIN (AP) — Veteran rock star Bruce Springsteen, a high-profile critic of President Donald Trump, slammed the U.S. administration as 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous' during a concert Wednesday in Berlin. He was addressing tens of thousands of fans at a stadium built for the 1936 Olympic Games that still bears the scars of World War II and contains relics from the country's dark Nazi past. 'Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices, stand with us against authoritarianism, and let freedom reign,' he said. Springsteen, long a political opponent of the president, has made increasingly pointed and contentious public statements in recent concerts. He denounced Trump's politics during a concert last month in Manchester, calling him an 'unfit president' leading a 'rogue government' of people who have 'no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American.' Springsteen is no stranger to Berlin. In July 1988, he became one of the first Western musicians to perform in East Germany, performing to a ravenous crowd of 160,000 East Germans yearning for American rock 'n' roll and the freedom it represented to the youth living under the crumbling communist regime. An Associated Press news story from that period says 'fireworks steaked through the sky' and hundreds of people in the audience waved handmade American flags as they sang along to 'Born in the USA.' Almost four decades later, Springsteen issued a stark warning: 'The America that I love, the America that I've sung to you about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.'

Trump to attend 'Les Misérables' premiere as protests persist across the country
President Donald Trump is set to attend the opening night of 'Les Misérables,' a musical set against a background of revolution and protest, at Washington, D.C.'s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday. 'I love the songs, I love the play,' Trump told Fox News Digital last week. 'I think it's great.' The opening night of a monthlong run of the Tony Award-winning show comes amid widespread protests against the president's immigration policies and his decision to deploy members of the military in response. Protesting against power is a major theme in the show, which is centered around student-led demonstrations against the French monarchy. 'Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, the musical tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice, and redemption — a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit,' reads the official summary on the Kennedy Center's website. Songs from the musical have been used in protests against governments around the world since the show debuted in 1980, including by pro-democracy demonstrators in Hong Kong in 2019. Protesters sang one of the show's most popular and recognizable hits, 'Do You Hear the People Sing?' which includes the lyrics, 'Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song of angry men?' The show will be the first production Trump has attended as head of the Kennedy Center. He did not attend any performances during his first term in office, and in February he replaced the entire board of trustees and had himself named chairman of the board. The shake-up resulted in some concerts being canceled — including a performance by the Gay Men's Chorus in honor of Pride Month — and other artists and productions pulling out of planned shows to protest the changes, including actor Issa Rae and a production of 'Hamilton.' 'Our show simply cannot, in good conscience, participate and be a part of this new culture that is being imposed on the Kennedy Center,' 'Hamilton' producer Jeffrey Seller said in a statement in March. A spokesperson for "Les Miz" said Wednesday, 'We are looking forward to performing for DC audiences beginning tonight and throughout the engagement at the Kennedy Center, where the US first saw the original production in 1986.' The performance Wednesday is serving as a fundraiser for the Kennedy Center. First lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, are expected to attend as well. Security will be tightened around the venue for the performance, the Kennedy Center said. 'Please be advised the Kennedy Center will be closed to non-ticket holders on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, due to enhanced security protocols,' the venue's website said.
