I've been on a quest to find a Dubai chocolate bar in the UK for some time now, but to no avail. If you're an avid social media user, you've likely come across this Middle Eastern-inspired chocolate trend.
For those unfamiliar, it's a chocolate bar filled with kadayif (a type of shredded filo pastry) and pistachio cream.
In the UK, Dubai chocolate is currently the top trending food and drink hashtag on TikTok, with online searches skyrocketing by 80%. I had the chance to try it once while travelling, but since then, it's remained elusive.
So, when I heard that Marks and Spencer were launching their own version, I was eager to give it a go.
Back in 2024, M&S's Big Daddy, a peanut and caramel-filled chocolate bar, was touted as the UK's answer to the viral Dubai chocolate. Now, they've released a version that's even closer to the original - the Big Daddy Pistachio bar.

With a £8.50 price tag, the Big Daddy 2.0 isn't a far cry away from what most retailers are charging for their own Dubai chocolate bars. But of course, this is still quite a bit to fork out on a bar of chocolate, so was it worth it?
Firslty, it's worth noting that it isn't a traditional Dubai chocolate bar. Originally created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai, UAE, the treat made with milk chocolate, pistachio cream and kadayif, it was then popularised by TikTok.
While the Big Daddy Pistachio has a "subtly sweet fine biscuit crumb", it doesn't have kadayif. But this bar is so good I didn't even mind - and I was actually left impressed they hadn't just copied the recipe from every other retailer.
With thick, creamy milk chocolate, gooey sweet and salty caramel, crunchy, fine biscuit crumb, coupled with a pistachio layer made with roasted pistachios, pistachio crème and white chocolate - I was left gobsmacked.
Firstly, I was shocked by the size and weight of it. Weighing 280g, it's not your average chocolate bar, and it felt incredibly heavy and dense in my hands.

After cutting it open, I was immediately excited after seeing the layer of oozy caramel, along with a thick and generous layer of pistachio filling.
I was a bit worried it would be too heavy - but because all the flavours were perfectly balanced, it didn't feel like it. The bar didn't taste sickly, as the salty flavours from the caramel and nuts complimented the sweet flavours.
The pistachio layer almost tasted like nougat. In the best way possible, think of an incredibly fancy Mars bar with pistachio flavour.
It could have done with a bit more crunch to it, either from more biscuits or more pistachio, but overall it was so much better than I thought it would be.
I was expecting to wish it tasted more like the Dubai-style chocolate I'd had on holiday. But this is its own thing.
After just one bite I was left wanting more - and luckily there's plenty to go round. However, I fear if I had kept on going I would have eventually started to regret it because of the rich flavours.
That being said, I was blown away by the twist, and was left feeling it was worth it. I will definitely be buying it again!
Dubai chocolate has boomed in popularity over the last couple of years - even in the UK. Some retailers, such as Lindt and Lidl, have created their own versions with the core ingredients.

Sophie Evans asks fans about Welsh language schools and overwhelmingly told one thing

Sophie Evans asks fans about Welsh language schools and overwhelmingly told one thing Best known for her roles in Wicked and the Wizard of Oz, Sophie Evans has been asking for advice about her children's future education Sophie Evans and Ellis Jenkins pictured with their first son Jack, in 2023 (Image: Sophie Evans/Instagram ) West End star Sophie Evans has opened up about a decision many Welsh parents have to think about - whether to send your children to a Welsh or English-speaking school. Just two months after welcoming her second child with husband Ellis Jenkins, Sophie took to TikTok to ask followers for advice. With their first son Jack now nearing school age, the couple must make a decision. "I can't believe the time has come to start thinking about schools for Jack," Sophie said. "But I am at a crossroads as to whether to send Jack to a Welsh language school or an English language school." ‌ The Tonypandy singer said she doesn't speak Welsh fluently, but has some familiarity with the language. She said: "I just think it's something that I really think would've helped with my career, if I could speak Welsh." ‌ Sophie went on to explain her husband's thoughts: "Ellis also doesn't speak Welsh and he is a very academically driven man, he did amazing in school and you know, he says 'I always remember my dad helping me with my homework, maths especially, so he's worried that if we send them to a Welsh school that he wouldn't be able to help them." The couple married in 2022 and have since welcomed two sons, Jack and Louie (Image: Instagram/Jonathan Davies ) She asked followers: "If you send your child to Welsh school, what are the negatives, in your opinion? If you send your child to Welsh school and have loads of positives let me know what they are as well, and vice versa with the English language school. Article continues below "I just don't know what to do. I'm like 75% Welsh and 25% English... but any ideas on what to do?" The comments section flooded with opinions, with the vast majority encouraging Sophie to send her children to a Welsh language school. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter One follower wrote: "Welsh medium education all the way. Better standard of education and the boys will leave being fully bilingual with better job prospect if they stay in Wales. Plenty of help on offer to parents who don't speak the language from schools/teachers." ‌ This was echoed by another comment: "Welsh, being bilingual in any language improves job prospects as an adult, it provides them with all the same GCSEs as standard and speaking multiple languages from a young child has proven to improve cognitive ability such as improved memory and slower cognitive decline, and it makes it easier to learn more languages as an adult. "Not to mention the fact that it's a beautiful langue and everyone in Wales should have the pleasure of speaking it." One commenter who was in the same position said: "Product of a Welsh language school with non Welsh speaking parents, I'm fine! Great job, learnt three other languages and my English is great (freelance writer and journalism grad). ‌ "Homework they learn to explain to you, and you can request English versions of things. In a class of say 50 in my school, only five would have a Welsh speaking parent - it was completely the norm. It's never held me back!" Another added: "The benefits of being bilingual are incredible! I am first language Welsh and my parents didn't speak Welsh, I'm so thankful they gave me the opportunity. It's so important for our culture. Absolutely no negatives. Welsh better funding. English schools will be phased out across Wales in coming years." A minority shared concerns based on their experiences: "I know so many people who struggled with English when attending a Welsh school. They needed an English tutor to help them with basics like spelling/reading etc. Those I know who attended a Welsh school don't use it in their jobs (obvs different for everyone with different jobs) but also jobs like Welsh speaking applicants too." ‌ Another said: "I went to Welsh school, parents struggled to help with homework but I liked my time at school. I didn't keep up my Welsh though and now not that confident to speak it. So if they do go encourage them to keep it up as there are lots of jobs that want specific Welsh speaking, especially in civil service. I can't do maths terminology in English and also only know the lord's prayer in Welsh." Sophie, who rose to fame on BBC talent show, Over the Rainbow, married Welsh rugby International Ellis Jenkins back in 2022. The couple first met when they were both just 18 years old. Speaking to WalesOnline previously, Sophie shared that despite their deep connection, they've faced their fair share of challenges. "When we were about 23 or 24, we went separate ways for just over a year and then realised, 'You are the love of my life' and we are meant to be together. The rest is history," she recalled. Fans roast Indy Clinton for 'cringeworthy' display at Sydney meet-and-greet event

Indy Clinton has faced some not-so-subtle roasting following a meet-and-greet event in Sydney. The influencer, 27, who is the face of haircare label Bouf, was in the Castle Towers shopping centre in Castle Hill on Saturday to spruik the brand. However fans were quick to slam Indy after she shared a clip of the event to TikTok. The clip showed Indy dancing with abandon on a Bouf-themed stage to what appeared to be a smattering of Saturday shoppers. The mum-of-three looked very much in her element as she gleefully sashayed her way around the stage. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Dream come true, a dance performance to a crowd (who aren't my kids),' Indy captioned the clip. However, it wasn't a dream come true for many on the AussieTikTokSnark Reddit page with fans labelling the event as 'cringeworthy'. 'I'm having a good chuckle at the deliberate cropping of the line in her videos, don't think many showed up,' one user wrote. 'Also the dancing on the stage was so cringeworthy, kind of like what a teenager might do as a joke.' Another agreed, adding that they felt embarrassed for the influencer. 'Just saw her TikTok and nearly passed away from second-hand embarrassment,' they quipped. 'Barely anyone showed up lmfao, and the people that are watching look like they're just having a look because they were walking past while doing their shopping and stopped to see what was going on.' Yet another, who claimed to be at the event chimed in with: 'I walked past as I was shopping and it was dead.' It wasn't all negative however, with many fans praising Indy's display over on TikTok. 'We need Indy on a runway ASAP,' one swooned while another, who attended, added: 'You're an icon. Loved meeting you today. 'Such a huge moment,' a third said. 'Performing in front of a crowd must feel incredible.' It comes after Indy was called out for promoting the hair care brand while wearing wigs and hair extensions. She shared a video to Instagram giving fans a sneak peek inside her new campaign for Bouf Haircare. The clip featured Indy posing in a jumpsuit while wearing long hair extensions as well as in a short mini dress with a long blonde wig attached to her locks. Many flocked to the comments to slam Indy for promoting a hair growth product while wearing fake hair extensions. 'Don't get me wrong, this is cool, but also I'm not drawn to buying haircare when the model has fake hair/extensions. It's just hard to see how a product can be effective when we aren't shown real hair,' one person wrote. 'How do we know her fine hair wasn't caused by postpartum hair loss and the hair gain isn't just what happens when hormones settle after a baby and hair begins to grow back?' another asked. A third jumped in with: 'I mean this is fun but the choice of wigs and clip ins is not giving hair growth brand. There are so many hair growth serums out there lol. 'Didn't Indy used to plug Bondi Boost all the time?' Despite the backlash, others rushed to Indy's defence and praised her exciting new campaign. Bouf Haircare co-founder Rachael Wilde has posted a video to TikTok explaining why they decided to incorporate wigs in their campaign photo shoot. 'Indy documented an entire four months of using the product,' she began. 'The overall art direction, that we wanted to go with was to create this moment of juxtaposition. The woman in her chaotic everyday world and life at home feeling like an absolute superstar with this bold volume of her hair. 'An example is someone sitting on a pile of washing but we wanted to make it glam so we are showing a woman in her bold confident self with all this stuff going on in her life. 'We went with really big with the hair just to go overboard with expressing the polar opposites with these two things.'

I ordered a pretty cake for my birthday but what arrived was so ugly – people say it ‘looks like a five-year-old did it'

A YOUNG woman has revealed that she ordered herself what she thought would be a trendy and pretty cake to celebrate her birthday. Eager to kick off her celebrations in style, Alexandra Tobie splashed the cash on a personalised birthday treat. 2 2 But when her cake arrived, the content creator was lost for words and left in tears by the fail. And not only have people said they 'wouldn't have paid' for the cake, but others suggested it looked like it had been made by a child. Posting on social media, Alexandra gave her followers a close-up look at the glamorous cake she had requested, as she wrote: 'What I ordered…' Alexandra had asked for a pink heart-shaped cake, with a bold black font that read 'That Girl Since '03'. The cake she had in mind featured incredibly neat piping around the edges and even had a glitter spray on it. But moments later, Alexandra shared a snap of what she actually got, which unfortunately looked nothing like she had hoped. While the cake was in fact pink, the black text was instead yellow and nowhere near as stylish. Not only this, but the cake itself wasn't the same heart shape Alexandra had asked for. And if that wasn't bad enough, the top of the cake featured a rogue blue heart, as well as a random splodge of blue icing, which appeared to be a mistake. Clearly gutted with her birthday cake, alongside a crying and broken heart emoji, Alexandra sobbed: 'It's so ugly omg.' The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ alexandratobie_, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has amassed 82,100 views. Not only this, but it's also racked up 3,795 likes, 166 comments, 439 saves and 352 shares. Hacks for Keeping Food Fresh in Your Fridge IF you want your food to stay fresh, you'll need to try out this useful hacks... Herbs in Water: Store fresh herbs like parsley and coriander in a glass of water, then cover with a plastic bag to keep them fresh for weeks. Wrap Greens in Paper Towels: Wrap leafy greens in paper towels before placing them in a plastic bag. The towels absorb excess moisture, preventing wilting. Use Mason Jars: Store salads, chopped vegetables, and even leftovers in mason jars. They are airtight and keep food fresher for longer. Revive Stale Bread: Sprinkle a bit of water on stale bread and pop it in the oven for a few minutes to make it fresh again. Baking Soda for Odours: Place an open box of baking soda in your fridge to absorb odours and keep food tasting fresh. Freeze Herbs in Olive Oil: Chop herbs and freeze them in olive oil using an ice cube tray. This preserves their flavour and makes them easy to use. Keep Cheese Fresh: Wrap cheese in wax paper instead of plastic wrap. Wax paper allows the cheese to breathe, preventing it from becoming slimy. Store Avocados with Onions: Place a cut avocado in an airtight container with a slice of onion. The sulphur compounds in the onion slow down oxidation, keeping the avocado fresh. Use Vinegar Wash for Berries: Rinse berries in a mixture of water and vinegar (one cup of vinegar to three cups of water) before storing. This kills bacteria and mould spores, extending their shelf life. Egg Freshness Test: To check if eggs are still fresh, place them in a bowl of water. Fresh eggs will sink, while old ones will float. Implement these clever hacks to maximise the freshness of your food and make the most of your groceries. Social media users were left 'screaming' by the cake blunder and many eagerly flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on Alexandra's purchase. One person said: 'I know my entire year would be ruined with a cake like that!' Another added: 'Even the colours are not communicating. I'd cry a river.' A third commented: 'They didn't even try.' Meanwhile, someone else slammed: 'I wouldn't have paid.' At the same time, a mother chimed in and claimed: 'Looks like my five year old did it.'
