Maxton Hall Season 2: Release date, cast updates and what to expect next
Alright, Maxton Hall fans, let's talk about Season 2! If you're anything like us, you've been obsessing over Ruby and James since that gut-punch of a finale in Season 1. The German teen drama, based on Mona Kasten's Save Me trilogy, hooked millions of us with its swoony romance and high-stakes drama when it hit Prime Video in May 2024. It became the platform's biggest international original series practically overnight. So, what's the deal with Season 2? Let's dive into the release date, cast, and what we can expect from our favourite elite boarding school. Maxton Hall Season 2 Release Date
Mark your calendars: Maxton Hall Season 2 lands on Prime Video on November 7, 2025. We know, it feels like forever, right? Filming kicked off in June 2024 and wrapped up by September, with the crew bouncing between Berlin, London, and a stunning castle near Hanover. Some fans on X were crossing their fingers for an earlier release, like spring or summer 2025, but Prime Video shut down those rumors with the official November date. They're promising a slick production, with top-notch dubbing and subtitles for fans worldwide. Cast Updates for Season 2
The core cast of Maxton Hall is set to return, bringing back the characters fans fell in love with. Here's who we expect to see: Harriet Herbig-Matten as Ruby Bell: The determined scholarship student navigating love and ambition.
Damian Hardung as James Beaufort: The wealthy heir grappling with grief and his feelings for Ruby.
Sonja Weißer as Lydia Beaufort: James' sister, dealing with her own dramatic storyline, including her pregnancy.
Fedja van Huêt as Mortimer Beaufort: The imposing patriarch of the Beaufort family.
Ben Felipe as Cyril Vega: A key figure in the Maxton Hall social scene.
Justus Riesner as Alistair Ellington: A friend of James with his own arc.
Runa Greiner as Ember: Part of Ruby's growing circle of friends.
Andrea Guo as Lin Wang: Another friend adding depth to the group dynamics.
While Clelia Sarto's character, Claudelia Beaufort, passed away in Season 1, there's a chance she could appear in flashbacks. New characters are also expected to join, introducing fresh dynamics, though specific details about newcomers remain under wraps. What to Expect in Maxton Hall Season 2
Season 2 picks up where that heartbreaking cliffhanger left off, diving into Save You , the second book in Mona Kasten's series. If you thought Season 1 was intense, brace yourself—things are about to get messy. Without giving away too much, here's what you can expect: Ruby and James' Rocky Romance : After their steamy night in Oxford, Ruby's on cloud nine, dreaming of her future. But James is spiraling after his mom's death, making choices that push Ruby away. Will he fight to win her back? Will Ruby even let him? Their chemistry is fire, but the heartbreak is real.

James is butting heads with his dad, Mortimer, who's as ruthless as ever. Meanwhile, Lydia's dealing with her pregnancy and her complicated relationship with Graham Sutton. Expect secrets, betrayals, and plenty of elite-world scheming.

Darker, Grittier Tone: Damian Hardung called Season 2 'grim and dark' in a recent chat, hinting at heavy themes like grief and trauma. It's not all doom and gloom, though—there'll be plenty of those heart-fluttering Ruby-and-James moments to balance it out.
The teaser trailer dropped in July 2024, and it's a lot. Ruby's watching James dance with another girl at a party (ouch), and there's a scene of her running from school in tears. But don't lose hope—there are glimpses of them holding hands and getting cozy, so their love story's far from over.

Check out this great neo-noir before it leaves Amazon Prime Video next week (July 2025)
When you're actually trying to figure out which titles you should prioritize on a given streaming service, it can feel almost impossible. Speaking for myself, I know that trying to pick a single thing to watch from among the vast array of titles available on services like Prime Video can feel almost impossible. What I often do, then, is pick something that won't be available for long. Prime Video has plenty of titles coming and going all the time, and if you're looking for one to watch this month, I'd start with To Live and Die in L.A. Here are three reasons you should check it out: Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on HBO Max, and the best movies on Disney+. It's a dark, moody action movie Although To Live and Die in L.A. is in some ways a standard cop action movie of the 1980s, in others it's much stranger and more nihilistic than that description makes it sound. The film follows a rogue cop who, after losing his partner to a master counterfeiter, becomes hellbent on revenge. As he pushes the boundaries of his job, we find ourselves wondering whether he's gone way too far in the pursuit of justice. It's a nervy movie that you might walk away from hating both the hero and the villain, which remains one of the reasons why it's aged well. It's rarely available to stream This is a slightly unusual reason, but one of the best reasons to check out To Live and Die in L.A. is that the movie is actually usually pretty hard to watch on streaming. This is a rare window where the movie's available, and given that it's one of the definitive action movies of the 1980s, it's well worth your time. Given the uncertainty of licensing rights, you can never tell when a movie is going to pop up on streaming and when it might disappear for years at a time. While streaming isn't the only way to watch movies, it's often the most convenient, so take advantage of this convenience while you can. It features Willem Dafoe at his villainous best While the entire ensemble of To Live and Die in L.A. is doing excellent work, the movie's true standout performer is almost undoubtedly Willem Dafoe, who plays the master counterfeiter. Dafoe is not known for playing nice guys, but his performance as the villain at the center of this movie is particularly unsettling because he's so cold and calculating. Dafoe can be big and hammy, but here, he underplays almost every scene in a way that makes him seem deeply real and just as malevolent as you would want him to be. It's a great early turn from one of our best actors. You can watch To Live and Die in L.A. on Amazon Prime Video.
