Keira Knightley remembers Donald Sutherland on 20 years of 'Pride and Prejudice' Kiera Knightley and co-star Rosamund Pike looked back on some iconic moments from 2005 adaptation of Jane Austin's novel, Pride and Prejudice , including their time spent with late Donald Sutherland. Knightley and Pike starred as Elizabeth and Jane Bennet respectively, meanwhile, Sutherland played the role of their loving father Mr Bennet. To mark the 20th anniversary of the Oscar nominated adaptation, Pike and Knightly sat down with the Vanity Fair to talk about their beloved film. While honouring the memory of Sutherland, Knightley said, "I have to say, most actors have been a disappointment since then." "Donald was pretty legendary," Pike added. "We did have dinners with him sometimes, and he told us some pretty wild stories which cannot be shared." The Black Doves star then shared that Sutherland was strictly anti-smoker, a quality his castmates did not share. Sharing a memory relating to smoking, the 40-year-old star recalled, "There was the party that Donald Sutherland came to. You weren't allowed to smoke. He had it in his contract that nobody on the set was allowed to smoke anywhere near, and you couldn't smell of smoke." Knightly added, "But of course everyone smoked back then. And everybody would be smoking, and then you'd be sort of spraying yourself." The Pirates of the Caribbean star further shared that Sutherland eventually came to party with a gas mask, remembering his words, she said, "he was like, 'I want you to all be able to smoke. And I wanted to come to the party.'" Sutherland died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on June 10, 2024, at the age of 88.

Al Pacino Meets Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican

Yara Sameh Al Pacino met with Pope Leo XIV on Monday at the Vatican, in what is the first reported official audience between the first American pope and a movie star. 'We are honored to announce that this morning His Holiness Pope Leo XIV received in a private audience at the Holy See a delegation from the film 'Maserati: The Brothers,' including Oscar winner actor Al Pacino and the film's producer Andrea Iervolino,' Iervolino said in a statement. 'The meeting was a moment of profound spiritual and cultural inspiration, centered around shared values that lie at the heart of both the Catholic Church and the film: family unity, love, compassion and the importance of contributing to the common good." The statement concluded: 'These values, which Pope Leo XIV has consistently emphasized in his recent messages to the world, resonate deeply with the story of the Maserati brothers: a family whose legacy was built not only on innovation and excellence but on profound mutual respect, solidarity and a shared vision.' Pacino arrived in Rome by private jet from New York on Sunday. In May, it was announced that the Hollywood star had joined the cast of the Bobby Moresco-directed 'Maserati: The Brothers,' in which he will play businessman Vincenzo Vaccaro, who supported the Maserati family and invested in the early days of the company. The pic is filming in Italy. The previously announced 'Maserati' cast, who did not attend the papal audience, comprises Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, Jessica Alba, Michele Morrone, and Salvatore Esposito. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand

Gary Oldman, David Beckham, Roger Daltrey knighted in King's Birthday Honours

Yara Sameh Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman, former England football captain David Beckham, and The Who front man Roger Daltrey are among the prominent figures awarded knighthoods in this year's King's Birthday Honours list. Oldman, 67, who played Harry Potter's godfather Sirius Black in several of the movies in the franchise, was awarded a knighthood for services to drama. In 2018, the Hollywood star won an Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in the film 'Darkest Hour.' Beckham, 50, was recognized for his services to sport and charity. A global soccer icon and former Manchester United midfielder, Beckham has represented England 115 times and clinched league titles across four countries. He was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003 and has since expanded his influence beyond the pitch. Beckham has worked as an ambassador for the worldwide children's charity UNICEF since 2005 and has been an ambassador for the King's Foundation since last year. As a result of his knighthood, his wife, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, will now be formally styled Lady Beckham. Co-founder and lead singer of legendary British rock band The Who, Daltrey, 81, was honored for his services to charity. Alongside his storied musical career, Daltrey has served as a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust since 2000, spearheading its annual concert series at London's Royal Albert Hall for more than two decades. The Who, formed in London in 1964, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Of the band's four founding members, only Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend are still alive. Most honors in the UK are awarded twice a year – on the monarch's official birthday in June, and in the New Year. The list is compiled by the government and signed off by King Charles, with nominations reviewed by independent panels across different sectors. The most recent New Year Honours list saw knighthoods conferred on London mayor Sadiq Khan, actor Stephen Fry, and former England soccer manager Gareth Southgate. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand
