'There was no escape from the sun...' Scarlett Johansson recalls searing Malta heat on Jurassic World Rebirth shoot
Scarlett Johansson says it was "brutal" filming 'Jurassic World Rebirth' in the scorching heat of Malta. The 40-year-old star plays the role of Zora Bennett in the latest movie in the 'Jurassic Park' franchise and admits that it was very difficult shooting watery scenes at the height of the Mediterranean summer. Scarlett told Empire magazine: "There was no escape from the sun. "It was just baking every day. And you're on this rig, 30 feet in the air or whatever it is, and it's moving up and down and sideways, and there's all this water being shot out of these cannons towards you. It was brutal. "To do it one day would be hard. But to do it continuously for, like, six weeks or whatever..." The movie's director Gareth Edwards admits that he did feel sympathy for his cast as they made the flick in gruelling conditions. The 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' filmmaker recalled: "At the end of each day, I'd try and reassure them that tomorrow was going to be easier because of this reason. "And then the next day would be even harder for either precisely the same reason, or a brand-new other reason. After a while, they just stopped believing me." Edwards has hinted that 'Jurassic World Rebirth', which will be released in cinemas in July, will be darker in tone than previous movies and suggested that it is a "horror film". The director said: "It's really a horror film. "It's the sort of horror you enjoy, rather than stuff that will traumatise you forever. Like the way people enjoy fairground rides. But it's full-on darkness, right?" Edwards has long been a fan of the 'Jurassic Park' franchise after watching the original movie in 1993 at the age of 18 and was daunted by the prospect of guiding the film's iconic director Steven Spielberg – who serves as an executive producer on 'Jurassic World Rebirth' – around the set. The 49-year-old filmmaker said: "The only thing I can compare it to is having to show George Lucas around the set of a 'Star Wars' film. "I definitely believe I am in the Matrix and I chose 'film director' as my simulation, because this shouldn't really happen." The flick feature a new set of characters, with Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey both appearing in the movie, and screenwriter David Koepp revealed that it was an easy decision to launch a fresh start for the franchise. The scribe said: "We decided early on that, because the first and second trilogies have concluded their stories, let's not restrict ourselves in any way – let's have all-new characters in an all-new location."

Cillian Murphy Set to Appear in 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE and He Might Save the Trilogy — GeekTyrant
Cillian Murphy is returning to the infected streets of the 28 Days Later trilogy, but not right away. According to director Danny Boyle, fans won't catch a glimpse of the original franchise lead until the final moments of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple , the second film in a brand-new trilogy. Boyle told IGN: 'He is in the second one. I shouldn't give away too much. I'll get killed.' The trilogy is being launched with 28 Years Later , which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes, and sets the stage for a large-scale reimagining of the infected nightmare first brought to life in 2002. But despite being credited as an executive producer, Murphy doesn't appear in the first installment at all. His return is being saved for a key moment at the end of the second film, a strategy that could determine whether the third film even gets made. Boyle told Business Insider: 'All I can say is you have to wait for Cillian, but hopefully he will help us get the third film financed.' Boyle and writer Alex Garland mapped out the entire trilogy together, with the second chapter, The Bone Temple , already completed under the direction of Nia DaCosta ( Candyman ). The third and final chapter, however, hasn't been greenlit. Its fate depends on box office returns and, possibly, Murphy's star power. Boyle explained: 'Although each story [in the trilogy] completes itself, there's a handover section to the next film as well. So it's very ambitious. We haven't got the money for the third one yet. 'It will depend how the first one does, I guess. But hopefully if we do okay, they'll give us the go-ahead for the money and for the third one. Everybody's standing by for that, really. Including Cillian.' Murphy's post- Oppenheimer momentum and Oscar win makes him a valuable piece of the puzzle. In fact, Boyle admitted that just having Murphy's name attached helped him push past studio resistance on one unusual technical decision by shooting the film with iPhones. 'You promise them Cillian Murphy, that's quite a deflection of any technical concerns. They soon forget. We nakedly used that to get our own way. What better promise could you make?' Back in 2002, Murphy's role as Jim, a lone survivor waking up in a post-apocalyptic UK—helped catapult him into global recognition. Since then, fans have wanted to see his return to the franchise. For now, fans will have to wait until January 16, 2026, when The Bone Temple hits theaters, to see Murphy step back into the chaos. But if all goes according to plan, that long-awaited cameo might be what's needed to greenlight the trilogy's final chapter.
