
Dunrobin high school vice-principal charged with sexual assault
A vice-principal at West Carleton Secondary School has been charged with sexual assault.

Jonathan Cappello, listed as one of two vice-principals at the high school in Dunrobin, was arrested and charged with sexual assault in Ottawa on May 10, according to a notation on his profile on the Ontario College of Teachers website.

'The OCDSB is fully co-operating with police through their investigation,' said Ottawa-Carleton District School Board spokesperson Diane Pernari in a statement.

'The staff member is not currently in the workplace. We can confirm the charges are not related to the OCDSB community.'

The Ontario College of Teachers licenses, governs and regulates teachers in the province and issues, suspends and revokes teaching certificates, as well as setting ethical standards and standards of practice and investigating and hearing complaints about members.

Under the Ontario College of Teachers Act, members of the college are required to report if they have been charged with an offence under the Criminal Code. The College is required to post current or previous criminal proceedings involving a member that are relevant to their membership.
