Gautam Adani, family join Rath Yatra celebrations at Puri, cook ‘prasad' for devotees
After the three chariots of Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath were pulled to Shree Gundicha temple at noon, Adani, his wife Priti and son Karan offered prayers to the deities in front of the temple amidst intermittent showers.
The family then walked to the mega kitchen of ISKCON at Puri and also offered prayers to the deities there besides assisting in preparing meals and distributing them among the devotees.
Later speaking to mediapersons at ISKCON, the Adani Group chairman said he prayed for the country as well as state's development.
'I have got everything from Lord Jagannathji. There was a time when I had nothing and by His grace, today I have everything. Today, I have prayed for our country's bright future and Odisha's development. I have prayed that our country keeps growing and the fruits of development are enjoyed by all its people," he said.
The 'Prasad Seva' rolled out by the Adani Group at Puri on the occasion of Rath Yatra includes distribution of 4 million nutritious meals to devotees and frontline officials and workers daily from June 26 to July 8.
The group is also extending logistical and safety support in the shape of jackets, raincoats, caps, umbrellas, and fluorescent safety vests for municipal workers and devotees. Its volunteers are assisting in beach clean-up drives, especially targeting plastic waste, and lifeguards from the Puri Beach Lifeguard Mahasangha are receiving direct support. The Adani family also met 'Adani lifeguards' at Puri beach on the day.
On the occasion of Rath Yatra on Friday, Adani said his family was blessed to be serving during the Rath Yatra.
"By the infinite grace of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannathji, we have been blessed with the opportunity to serve during the sacred Rath Yatra of Puri Dham. This divine journey is that sacred moment when the Lord himself comes to his devotees to bless them with his darshan. It is not just a journey, but a sublime celebration of devotion, service and surrender," the industrialist wrote on X.

UltraTech to cross 200 MTPA capacity in FY26: Kumar Mangalam Birla
Agency: New Delhi, Aug 19 (PTI) UltraTech Cement will cross the 200 MTPA capacity mark by the end of this fiscal, a year ahead of the targeted FY27, its Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said on Tuesday. With this, the flagship Aditya Birla Group firm is now well poised to become the largest cement-selling company in the world, outside China, said Birla while addressing the shareholders in the AGM. Birla said with 6.5 per cent GDP growth in FY25, India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world, and the March quarter growth of 7.4 per cent was led by construction and manufacturing. 'Despite risks from global market volatility, geopolitical developments, and fragmented trade relations, India's strong fundamentals, resilient financial system, and policy focus on long-term stability, position it well to sustain growth. The country is expected to retain its position as the fastest-growing major economy in 2025-26," he said. The leading cement manufacturer has added 42.6 MTPA of capacity during the year, with 16.3 MTPA through organic expansion, and 26.3 MTPA through strategic acquisitions of India Cements and the cement business of Kesoram Industries, Birla said. 'With this, the total consolidated capacity as of March 2025 stood at 188.8 MTPA. With nearly 70 per cent of capital expenditure focused on growth, your company is firmly on track to cross 200 MTPA capacity in FY26 – a full year ahead of the original FY27 goal," said Birla. In the June quarter of FY26, UltraTech added 3.5 million tonne per annum (MTPA) of grey cement capacity, bringing the total capacity to 192.26 MTPA. This acceleration places UltraTech at even stronger and more sustained growth trajectory for the years ahead, he added. In FY25, UltraTech's net revenue was Rs 75,955 crore (USD 8.9 billion) and sales volume reached 135.83 million tonne, reflecting a year-on-year growth of over 14 per cent. UltraTech competes with the Adani group in the cement business, which is also rapidly building capacities through acquisitions and organic expansion at existing plants. Adani's Ambuja Cements, which crossed 100 MTPA capacity in FY25 in a record time, mainly through acquisitions, now aims to reach 118 MTPA by FY 2026 and 140 MTPA by FY28, primarily through brownfield expansion projects. Talking about the demand trends, Birla said the construction sector is poised for 'robust performance", aided by increased focus on infrastructure projects through Gati Shakti, higher allocation for affordable housing schemes, and Asset Monetisation Plan. UltraTech now operates 34 integrated units, 30 grinding units, and 9 bulk terminals and along with channel partner network of over 1,45,000, it covers more than 80 per cent of India's geography. 'This scale and presence uniquely position us to serve the country's growing demand across urban centres and rural landscapes, from highways and metro projects to housing, industrial zones, and last-mile rural roads," said Birla. Global PE firms, domestic giants circle Statkraft's India assets
Mumbai: Global private equity firm Blackstone and Gurugram-based Serentica Renewables are leading the race to acquire the solar assets of Norwegian energy firm Statkraft in India, while Adani Group and JSW Group are in the fray to acquire its hydro power plants, three people said. Serentica, which is backed by PE firm KKR, has also bid for Statkraft's wind assets in India. Statkraft's solar assets in the country are likely to be valued at ₹1,700-1,800 crore and the hydro assets at ₹1,400-1,500 crore, according to the people familiar with the developments. 'The binding bids have been submitted and the seller will proceed with one of the buyers for each category of assets," one of them said. EY Norway is advising Statkraft on the sale. Statkraft India has a total renewable energy portfolio of around 1 GW, including solar energy and hydropower assets. These include a 76 MW operational solar power plant and an additional 75 MW solar power capacity being developed in Tamil Nadu. A 445 MW solar power project in Rajasthan is nearing completion. Statkraft's hydropower assets in the country include a 49% stake in two operating hydropower assets in Himachal Pradesh at Allain Duhangan (192 MW) and Malana (86 MW). Another hydropower plant of 150 MW capacity is under construction in the state at Tidong. The fact that the hydropower assets are joint ventures with LNJ Bhilwara group complicates the deal for potential suitors. A spokesperson for Blackstone declined comment. In an emailed response, a spokesperson for Serentica said, 'We explore opportunities for acquisitions and partnerships on an ongoing basis. We were among the selected bidders for the Statkraft portfolio in April, post which we conducted our diligence. We have submitted our binding offers for Statkraft's wind and solar portfolio". Statkraft, EY, Adani Group, and JSW Group did not reply to emailed queries. Statkraft's India journey The Norwegian group's decision to sell its India assets comes after a steady slide in overall revenue for the group and mounting debt. Statkraft plans to instead focus on other high-potential markets in the Nordics, Europe, and South America to meet its growth targets. Statkraft is the largest renewable energy producer in Europe with an installed capacity of 19.4 GW, of which 12.1 GW is hydropower capacity in Norway. The Norwegian state-owned firm entered the Indian power market through its subsidiary SN Power in 2004, when it acquired 49% of the shares in Malana Power Co. Ltd. Statkraft was the first foreign investor in India's hydropower sector.
