3 Killed, 10 Injured In Deadly South Philadelphia Shooting; Suspect In Custody
A deadly shooting in South Philadelphia in the early hours of Monday claimed the lives of three people and left 10 others injured, according to city authorities. The incident occurred just before 1 am on a residential block in the Grays Ferry neighbourhood.
Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel confirmed that all three victims who died were adults, while at least two of the injured were minors. The scene bore signs of intense gunfire, with multiple shell casings recovered from the area.
Authorities have taken one suspect into custody, and a firearm has been recovered. Officials did not disclose the individual's identity or provide a motive for the attack, which remains under investigation.
Commissioner Bethel revealed that police had responded to the same block less than 24 hours earlier, late Saturday night into early Sunday, where several arrests had been made in an unrelated disturbance. Whether that incident is linked to Monday's violence remains unclear.
'This is the kind of senseless, cowardly violence that continues to plague our city," Bethel said during a press briefing. 'These are not hardened criminals—they're reckless individuals pretending to be something they're not."
The shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have marred the Fourth of July weekend in Philadelphia and across the United States. It follows another shooting nearby in which eight people were hit by gunfire outside a South Philadelphia nightclub.

Trump and Epstein's mysterious ties: Wedding invitations, Mar-a-Lago secrets, and a shocking fallout
Photo byThe 'Epstein client list' has long been a rallying cry for Donald Trump's most devoted supporters. Over the years, Trump leaned into the demand, repeatedly vowing to declassify the elusive files that conspiracy theorists believed would expose a shadowy network of powerful predators. It became a cornerstone of the MAGA movement's belief that Trump alone would take down the elite. The trouble with Epstein But then came the memo. Just after the Fourth of July weekend, the Department of Justice quietly released a review of the Epstein files. The bombshell statement inside? There was no incriminating 'client list.' There was no evidence of a blackmail operation. And Epstein, the memo said, died by suicide in his jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. The fallout was instant. MAGA influencers, many of whom had built massive followings by hyping Trump's crusade against Epstein, turned on him. Some accused his administration of joining the cover-up. Others demanded the resignation of Attorney General Pam Bondi, whose name was on the DOJ memo. Photo byStill reeling from that news, Trump found himself back in the spotlight again just days later. As the dust began to settle, The Wall Street Journal reported on a collection of letters gifted to Epstein by the President in 2003, including a crude birthday note. The note featured several lines of typewritten text inside the crude outline of a naked woman drawn in thick black marker. It read: 'Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.' Trump has outright denied giving Epstein any such letter and has also sued WSJ and Rupert Murdoch over it. So how close were they, really? For years, Donald Trump downplayed the connection. But the two were hardly strangers. In fact, they were around each other long before Epstein's name became synonymous with scandal. According to earlier reports, their connection dates back to the 1980s, when both men moved into Palm Beach high society. They appeared at many of the same parties. They were photographed together more than once. And Trump, in a now-infamous 2002 quote published by New York Magazine, once described Epstein as 'a terrific guy' who 'likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.' But the more President Trump wants to distance himself from the Epstein case, the more he seems to get muddled in it. In newly released photos and videos by CNN, Trump and Epstein appear very close. So strong was their bond that Epstein was also invited to Trump and Marla Maples' wedding in New York, a fact not widely known. Photo byCNN also released footage from 1999 showing Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein at a Victoria's Secret fashion event in New York. In the video, they are seen chatting and laughing with Trump's future wife, Melania. The outlet highlighted that this material predates any of Epstein's known legal issues. By the early '90s, they were known to socialize more openly. Epstein's letter, dated June 1992, references Trump's then-wife, Marla Maples, and expresses thanks for the use of Mar-a-Lago, Trump's private estate in Florida. It didn't stop there. In the flight logs released by Pam Bondi in February 2025, Donald Trump's name appears seven times, indicating that they traveled together multiple times. There's also the oft-discussed party at Mar-a-Lago in 1992, attended by just two guests: Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein. According to The New York Times, the event was initially meant to feature 28 'calendar girls,' but the organizer said he had no clue it would end up being just Trump and Epstein. Source: X Trump and Epstein also shared mutual acquaintances, including Ghislaine Maxwell, who would later be convicted of trafficking underage girls for Epstein. She is currently serving her sentence in Tallahassee. Real estate rivalry or something more? By the mid-2000s, however, the relationship seemed to have soured. When Epstein was arrested in Florida in 2006 on state-level charges, Trump reportedly cut ties over a property dispute. By the time of Epstein's 2019 arrest and subsequent death, Trump was eager to distance himself. When asked about the financier, Trump told reporters: 'I knew him like everybody in Palm Beach knew him. People in Palm Beach knew him. He was a fixture in Palm Beach.' Since then, his statements have mostly denied any and all involvement with Jeffrey Epstein. Source: X But this is just one side of the story. According to Epstein, he had been 'Donald's closest friend for ten years' before they fell apart. Epstein freely shared his thoughts about Trump with journalist Michael Wolff in August 2017—two years before his death in a Manhattan jail cell. At the time, Wolff was researching what would become his explosive bestseller Fire and Fury. Wolff featured excerpts from the tapes on his podcast and provided some of the recordings to The Daily Beast. In them, Epstein called Trump 'brilliant' at real estate deals, crediting his strong salesmanship. He also claimed that Trump attempted to seduce the wives of his friends, describing him as 'charming' and 'delightful,' yet ultimately 'a horrible human being.' The convicted felon made many more outrageous claims to prove his closeness with Trump, but how many of them are true will probably remain a mystery. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that U.S. President Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein shared a bond that ran deeper than the President wants to admit. Jeffrey Epstein is dead, yet his ghost still lingers—no matter how many would rather the world forget. And while the truth seems elusive now, the hope is that justice, even if delayed, wasn't quietly buried with the man who escaped it in life.

‘They'll do it again': Slain US intern's mother warns after DC shooting; FBI offers $40K reward
Image: X@/DCNewsLive Tamara Jachym, the mother of a congressional intern fatally shot in Washington, DC, has urged police to bring his killers to justice, warning other parents that the same tragedy could strike their families too. Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, was shot around 10:28 p.m. on June 30 and succumbed to his injuries the following day. The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of 7th Street Northwest, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Jachym told Fox News that law enforcement must act swiftly to arrest the shooters, warning: 'They will do it again' if not held accountable. 'This is a serious crime. A mile from the White House. This isn't a joke. And then it happened again this weekend,' she said, referring to the fatal shooting of 3-year-old Honesty Cheadle during Fourth of July weekend in Washington, DC. 'You know, the mayor has to get serious with this.' 'I think Eric felt safe. It was early in the night. He was in a decent area, and this happened. And it's a shame. Eric was the 85th victim, and now we have an 86th,' she added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo As of now, 91 people have been killed in DC this year. Police said several individuals exited a vehicle and opened fire on a group, although Tarpinian-Jachym was not an intended target. A 16-year-old boy and an adult woman were also shot but survived. Investigators located the suspect vehicle and confirmed the shooting was targeted, but Tarpinian-Jachym was struck unintentionally. Eric was a rising senior at UMass Amherst, majoring in finance and minoring in political science. He had been interning for Representative Ron Estes, Republican of Kansas, since June. 'I will remember his kind heart and how he always greeted anyone who entered our office with a cheerful smile,' Estes said in a statement. 'We are grateful to Eric for his service to Kansas' 4th District and the country. Please join Susan and me in praying for his family and respecting their privacy during this heartbreaking time.' An FBI spokesperson confirmed the bureau is working with local police on the case. Authorities have announced a $40,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Video: Police Deliver Pizza After Arresting Delivery Agent For ‘Reckless Driving'
Last Updated: Instead of letting the food go to waste, officers took it upon themselves to deliver the pizza to the customer. Two police officers in the U.S. are winning hearts online after stepping in to complete a pizza delivery on the Fourth of July. A Grubhub driver was arrested for reckless driving while en route to drop off an order. But instead of letting the food go to waste, officers from the Tempe Police Department took it upon themselves to deliver the pizza to the customer. A video shared by the police shows the driver's arrest, but what really grabbed people's attention was the surprised reaction of the customer receiving the pizza. The police department said they're committed towards helping the community anytime, day or night, and delivering the pizza was part of that promise. In the video shared by the Tempe Police Department on X (Formerly Twitter), it first shows the moment when the delivery driver was getting arrested. Later in the clip, two police officers are seen carrying the pizza and walking up to the customer's door. They ring the bell, and when the woman opens the door, one of the officers politely tells her, 'Brandy? So your GrubHub guy got arrested, so still deliver your pizza. It still should be warm." The woman replies, 'I really appreciate the pizza. Thank you very very much. I appreciate it." In the caption, the department wrote, 'When a delivery driver was arrested during a traffic stop, our officers made sure the pizza still got to the customer. The order was Hot-N-Ready and the suspect was Caught-N-Steady. We're committed to serving our community 24/7, whether it's safety or pizza delivery." Another shared, 'I would do the same (if I was a beat cop) just to get the laugh & make the shift interesting (beyond the shitty interesting)." 'Pretty darn nice of the officers to deliver the food. Unfortunately, most of the time people meet the police it's during a not great time in their life or for a speeding ticket. Showing the human side is a nice touch," a comment read. An individual stated, 'I would be so confused as well if that was my order." Another mentioned, 'This is legit hilarious, protect and serve done right." One more added, 'Tempe Police assisted Arizona Faithful Network partner heat relief centre, Desert Palm Church of Christ. A community member had a medical emergency and left their dog. Tempe Police offered to go to the hospital to get information on who can receive the dog. That's heartwarming." Officials told Fox News that the delivery driver was arrested for reckless driving and taking part in street racing. view comments First Published: July 14, 2025, 12:23 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
