Formation of a National Joint Outbreak Response Team to address
Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], June 19(ANI): The National Institute of One Health (NIOH), currently being established in Nagpur, will feature a specialised National Outbreak Response Team aimed at swiftly identifying and analysing the root causes of disease outbreaks.
Dr. Pragya Yadav, Director-in-Charge of the National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH) and senior scientist at the ICMR-National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, said that the initiative will involve collaboration among experts from multiple sectors.
Speaking to ANI, Dr Yadav said, 'Under the National Institute of One Health, several initiatives are already underway, including national-level mock exercises to assess outbreak response, the formation of a National Joint Outbreak Response Team to investigate the root causes of outbreaks or ongoing diseases, and research focused on vaccines, antiviral treatments, and cost-effective diagnostic methods.'
The Director-in-Charge of NIOH stated that the National Institute of One Health will serve as a platform for all ministries and sectors to collaborate on research. 'The National Institute of One Health will unite all ministries and sectors to collaborate on research. This institute will work towards enhancing surveillance, research, and development to make India a stronger nation,' She added.
Dr Yadav added, 'The goal is to prepare the country for future health challenges and make it more resilient.'
The National Institute of One Health is being established to strengthen the country's ability to manage future pandemics and outbreaks of zoonotic diseases.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) decided to establish a National Institute of One Health at Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. In this context, two collaborative research projects, funded by the ICAR and ICMR, were initiated to conduct the epidemiological surveillance of selected zoonotic diseases in Central India.
The scientific collaboration between veterinary and medical faculties has set an example for the effective implementation of the One Health (OH) programme for the establishment of the National Institute of OH. (ANI)

"Consumers should be left to make the final choice based on truthful and honest declarations," she emphasised, urging collective responsibility to ensure accuracy and transparency in product information. Sanjeev Sanyal, Member, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, underscored the need for external validation of scientific claims in advertisements. He welcomed FSSAI's decision to implement all label changes annually on July 1, reducing uncertainty for the labelling industry. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prabhat, warned against false health and nutrition claims, highlighting their potential to erode public trust and harm health. The event featured technical sessions on global and Indian regulatory frameworks, enforcement case studies, and interactive discussions. Stakeholders exchanged insights on industry accountability, consumer rights, and collaborative enforcement strategies, resulting in actionable recommendations to enhance transparency and trust in food labelling and advertising. This consultation is part of FSSAI's ongoing national dialogue series aimed at building practical, health-aligned policies through close collaboration with industry, academia, and consumer organizations. Road accident victim dies after private hospitals refuse emergency care
New Delhi [India], August 13 (ANI): A deeply troubling case in Delhi has spotlighted alarming lapses in the enforcement of emergency medical care protocols. Aman Jha, a 26-year-old man injured in a road accident, tragically lost his life after being denied treatment by several private clear directives under the Farishtey Scheme, a government initiative that guarantees free emergency treatment for accident victims at both public and empanelled private hospitals for the first 72 hours, Jha was repeatedly turned Ashok Agarwal, a member of the Delhi High Court-appointed Free Beds Monitoring Committee, condemned the hospitals' actions in a formal complaint to the Delhi Health Secretary. He stated that the refusal to treat Jha not only violated the scheme's guidelines but also breached legal provisions that allow for punitive measures, including cancellation of hospital accused the hospitals of placing financial interests above human life, despite being fully aware of their obligations under the law. After being denied care at multiple facilities, Jha was finally admitted to a government hospital, but by then, it was too late. He succumbed to his has called on the Delhi government's Nursing Home Cell to take decisive action against the institutions involved. He stated that such negligence undermines the very foundation of emergency care policies designed to protect and preserve life. (ANI)

People urged to encourage organ donation
Rajamahendravaram: Minister for Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education Satya Kumar Yadav called for a concerted effort to increase organ donation awareness, stressing a significant gap between India's organ transplant capabilities and its donation rates. Speaking at the 'Jeevandan AP' event at GSL Medical College on International Organ Donation Day, he noted that while India ranks third globally in transplants, it is at 68th position in donations. The minister urged the public to overcome social stigma and encourage organ donation. The minister shared promising statistics for Andhra Pradesh, where a single donor's organs can save up to eight lives. In 2023, there were 41 donors and 126 transplants, which increased to 66 donors and 210 transplants in 2024. In the first seven months of 2025 alone, 54 donations have already resulted in 174 transplants. The event, which included a walkathon and a flash mob, honoured the families of organ donors. Following the awareness programme, Minister Yadav inaugurated seven new Advanced Integrated Modular Operation Theatres at GSL Medical College, built with a Rs 35 crore investment by GSL Institutions. According to Managing Director Dr Ganni Sandeep, these state-of-the-art facilities are equipped for complex surgeries, including organ transplants, and will reduce the need for patients to travel to other cities. The new theatres, which bring the total to 20, also feature high-speed connectivity for live telecasts of surgeries for medical education globally. Anaparthi MLA Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy, MLC Somu Veerraju participated. A powerful public awareness event for organ donation was organised by 'Jeevandan AP', captivating the city with a rally and a flash mob. Dr Ganni Bhaskara Rao, Chairman of GSL Medical Institutions, delivered a moving speech, comparing organ donation to a family legacy of compassion. The event began with a Walkathon from the Government Hospital, featuring students and staff from GSL, Delta, and KIMS hospitals. Participants held placards as they marched to Kambala Park junction, where a dynamic flash mob dance and a 'face paint' exhibition drew a large crowd. Dr Ramaraju of KIMS Hospital and Dr K Rambabu of Jeevandan AP stressed the critical need for organ donation.
