Lily James' ex Matt Smith, 42, steps out with former flame Emma Laird, 26, - two years after being spotted in a clinch on pub date

Daily Mail30-06-2025
Lily James' ex Matt Smith stepped out with his former flame Emma Laird over the weekend.
The Crown actor, 42, and the actress, 26, were spotted in a clinch on a pub date back in the summer of 2023.
And now it appears they are back spending time with each other as they headed to a trendy north London bakery and enjoyed a stroll together with his beloved dog.
For the outing Matt dressed casually in a light blue jumper and dark trousers, while Emma opted for a chic all-white outfit.
The date comes after Matt's romantic life was last in the news back in January when he was seen passionately kissing a mystery brunette on a Rio de Janeiro.
Soon after it was revealed she was Jessica Felix, a Brazilian model and trainee doctor who celebrated her 26th birthday in December.
But now it appears he could be back spending more time with Emma two years after their close display at a pub on a night out.
Representatives for Matt and Emma have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.
The actor was thought to be single after ending his most high profile romance with actress Lily James in 2020.
The couple first met in 2014 on the set of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in which Matt played Mr. Collins and James Elizabeth Bennet.
It was previously reported by The Mail On Sunday that Matt was dating businesswoman Caroline Brady in 2021 but they have not been pictured together since 2022.
Lily and Matt were notoriously private about their relationship before going official at the Milan premiere of Lily's film Cinderella in 2015.
She later quashed rumours of a proposal, telling The Sun on Sunday: 'We're not engaged yet. But it's going very well.'
The pair split in 2019 owing to 'hectic' work schedules before briefly rekindling their romance during the first Covid lockdown in which they self-isolated together at the north London home they had shared.
However, they split for good in October 2020, with sources claiming they 'realised they'd be better off as friends.'
Before that he dated several famous women including Billie Piper, Brazilian actress Mayana Moura and model Daisy Lowe.
In July 2023 Matt was spotted in a clinch with actress Emma outside a pub near his North London home.
The couple spent hours chatting and laughing together, and at one point they were seen gazing into one another's eyes as they drank and smoked at a picnic table.
And at around midnight, the pair headed off into the evening together. An onlooker said at the time: 'They were both looking in great spirits, enjoying several drinks al fresco until the late hours.
'They seemed to have great chemistry, and once the lights were switched off, they disappeared together.'
Just a month later in August of that summer Matt enjoyed a cosy date with his rumoured girlfriend Lili Gattyan at a restaurant in Marylebone.
An onlooker told The Sun at the time: 'They appeared close and were laughing and joking. He had his dog with him and people stopped by for a chat.'
Lili, who owns a swimwear brand Eunoia, 'looked like she was having a ball', added the onlooker.
While Matt remains tight-lipped over his romance, he recently spoke about his desire to start a family, saying: 'I do think that's what life is all about in the end. Children. Making a family...
'You know, when you're dead, and you're on the slab, that's what'll count'.
Meanwhile, Emma's star is on the rise, as she has starred in the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room, and in Kenneth Branagh's A Haunting In Venice, her feature film debut, in the past few years.
She most recently starred in 28 Years Later.
The former model first came to prominence as an actress in American TV drama Mayor Of Kingstown, where she played the key role of an escort employed by the Russian mafia.
In 2023 it was rumoured that she was in a relationship with Taylor Swift's ex Joe Alwyn, after filming The Brutalist with him in Hungary.
On Instagram, she shared a picture of the actor on a scooter during a night out, along with a caption that read: 'Moments in March,' accompanied by a red heart emoji.

Perrie Edwards reveals her agoraphobia 'got so bad she could barely leave the house' last year as she opens up on her crippling anxiety

Perrie Edwards has revealed her agoraphobia 'got so bad she could barely leave the house' last year in a candid new interview. The 32-year-old singer detailed her crippling anxiety with the Telegraph and said she struggles more being at home then on stage. 'When I'm on stage being a pop star I'm fully in my element: brave and empowered', Perrie explained. 'But as soon as I'm back home behind closed doors, that's when the anxiety kicks in and I'm just me again.' She added: 'I can't help but catastrophise about the everyday things that ought to be easy, like getting in my car and driving to London. 'At the end of last year my agoraphobia got so bad I could barely leave the house'. Agoraphobia involves fearing and avoiding places or situations that might cause panic and feelings of being trapped, helpless or embarrassed. You may fear an actual or upcoming situation. Earlier this year, Perrie admitted she fears she 'might die' as she opened up about her ongoing battle with panic disorder. The former Little Mix star revealed she finds it difficult to spend time alone, fearing she could suffer a life-threatening panic attack without anyone around to help. In an interview on Alison Hammond 's Big Weekend, Perrie invited the presenter into her home and spoke openly about how anxiety has affected her everyday life. Perrie said: 'I've developed panic disorder. So it's the fear of having a panic attack. A few years ago, I started suffering from severe panic attacks. 'I then developed a fear of having one again because I was like, if I'm on my own and have a panic attack, I might die, and nobody will be here to help.' She candidly added: 'That's why I'm never on my own. Never. I'm always with somebody. I don't like the feeling of feeling like I'm gonna die.' She is currently promoting her new song If He Wanted To He Would, which she announced on Instagram this week. Perrie welcomed son Axel in 2021 with her partner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The pair announced their engagement in 2022. She recently recalled the moment she told Alex that she loved him for the first time early in their romance. Appearing on the Capital Evening show with Jimmy Hill, she revealed how she stumbled over the romantic admission. She said: 'In my real life I can never say exactly what I mean... but I feel like in my music it's different. I remember the first time I told Alex I loved him, I was on a night out with the [Little Mix] girls and they were gearing me up - and for some reason I had a pan, right? 'I had a frying pan because Alex told me he liked pancakes so I went out of my way to buy a pan, but we had promo. 'So I'm on a night out, with a frickin' frying pan thinking, 'I'm gonna make his dreams come true, I'm gonna make him pancakes in the morning.' The singer went on: 'I remember saying to the girls, 'I think I love him... but I think he loves me too' and the girls were like, "Then just tell him". They geared me up within an inch of life and I was raring to go.' But when it came to the big moment, the singer admitted that she was 'speechless'. She continued: 'I couldn't find the words, I couldn't articulate myself, I was like panicking... my heartbeat was in my head. And I just went, "I think I'm falling in love with you", so aggressively.' After managing to get her words out, she revealed that Alex said he was in love with her too.

She finished the look with chunky black loafers and a chic handbag, wearing her signature bob loose around her face. The pair looked happy and relaxed as they made their way to a waiting car, with Stacey flashing a peace sign for the cameras. The pair had both performed on stage for a special performance of 2:22 A Ghost Story and as they left the show, Stacey cut a stylish figure in a sheer grey T-shirt The couple first met in 2018 when they were partnered on Strictly Come Dancing, going on to win the coveted glitterball trophy. They've been together ever since and welcomed their daughter Minnie in January 2023. 2:22 A Ghost Story sees Jenny (played by Stacey) convinced that her new house is haunted. She makes is her mission to try and convince her skeptic husband Sam (played by Kevin). Stacey's role of the character Jenny, has previously been played by singers Cheryl and Lily Allen in the West End supernatural thriller. Stacey has previously spoken out about the theatre world saying it has an 'element of snobbery'. As she made her stage acting debut two years ago, during an interview on BBC Breakfast, she was asked if she was nervous that theatre critics would be harsh in their reviews. Stacey replied saying: 'I think there has always been an element of snobbery surrounding that world. 'And that's why it's felt like certain sections of society, they can't tap into ... you know I mean, (a) certain demographic. 'But I feel like this play, I like it for that reason, actually. It doesn't feel too highbrow or (like) people (are) sat there with their arms folded, saying, 'right, you know, impress me'. It's an experience and it's a ghost story ... it's quite thought provoking. 'So I'm not too fussed about the critics and again, it's so subjective.' She added: 'You can sort of get into your head and think, 'Oh, am I going to do a good job?'. All you can do is try your best, (and) go for it,' she said. 'And hopefully people enjoy it. 'It's a hugely successful play and it's done so well and I think they've always cast in quite unexpected ways ... like the first it was Lily Allen's role, really, and she just smashed it and she was nominated for an Olivier Award. 'And then, ever since then, I think Jenny particularly ... hasn't been as traditionally cast as other places.'
