Chris Paul was so mad after the Spurs were hilariously disqualified from the NBA Skills Challenge
Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama represented San Antonio in the NBA Skills Challenge and tried a unique strategy to circumvent the rules. Rather than attempt any shots, the two players instead focused on the other aspects of the drill.
It was a fascinating decision by the players, but unfortunately for Paul and Wembanyama, it was not legal. As boos reigned down from the crowd in San Francisco, they soon learned that they were not allowed to use this strategy.

Paul was then heard on the broadcast complaining as other participants continued in the Skills Challenge.
Officials brought out the rules for Paul and Wembanyama to review, though neither seemed very happy with the decision.
Source said SA flew its massage therapist to San Francisco, along with the physical therapist and performance coach to put Wembanyama through his usual pre-game routine – even for the Kia Skills Challenge – because 'he takes it so seriously.'

This was probably especially frustrating for Wembanyama considering that the Spurs brought out their physical therapist and performance coach so he could have his typical pre-game routine
TNT's Allie LaForce attempted to interview Paul (multiple times) after the ruling and he refused to chat with her about what transpired. Talk about some excitement early in the night!

North Carolina commit Caleb Wilson signs lucrative shoe deal with New Balance
North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson has reportedly signed a multiyear shoe and apparel endorsement contract with New Balance, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Wilson agreed to a multimillion-dollar name, image and likeness (NIL) deal, which will see the consensus five-star recruit appear in various marketing campaigns. However, Wilson won't be able to wear New Balance with the Tar Heels since the school is signed to Jordan Brand. The 19-year-old joins a talented roster of ambassadors at New Balance, including Kawhi Leonard, Cooper Flagg, Jamal Murray, Tyrese Maxey and Cameron Brink. The company has aggressively targeted players in the NIL era after signing Brink and Flagg in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Wilson, the No. 5 overall recruit in the class of 2025, was the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year in Georgia and a McDonald's All-American. He led Holy Innocents Episcopal School to the private school state title, averaging 21.7 points, 11 rebounds and five assists as a senior. The 6-foot-10 forward announced his commitment to coach Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels on the "NBA on TNT" in January. He received over 25 scholarship offers from Division I programs, choosing the school over Kentucky and Ohio State. Wilson is considered a potential first-round pick in the 2026 NBA draft because of his overall offensive versatility and ability to defend multiple positions. The draft class is also expected to include AJ Dybantsa (BYU), Cameron Boozer (Duke) and Mikel Brown Jr. (Louisville).

Cristian Romero: Tottenham captain pens fresh four-year deal
Cristian Romero has signed a new Tottenham contract, a week after being named as the club's new captain. The 27-year-old had entered the final two years of his previous deal and went into the summer with doubts over his long-term future in north London. Atletico Madrid were keen admirers of Romero and he spoke last season of his desire to one day play in Spain. However, that interest did not materialise into anything serious. The decision to give Romero the captain's armband on a permanent basis as Heung-min Son's replacement pointed to Spurs having confidence that he was happy at the club. That has now been confirmed, with Romero signing what is believed to be a four-year contract, committing his future through to the summer of 2029. The news will be a huge boost to Thomas Frank, who last week made it clear he wanted Romero to agree an extension. 'I would say I've worked with him now closely for more than five weeks, I've seen a very, very committed player who's trained very well,' Frank said. 'The staff have said to me they've never seen him train that well. He's in a very good place. I see a player that will want to lead the team and push the team. 'I think when you name a captain it's because you think he's the best that can help the team no matter what now and also in the future. It's not really linked with the contract situation. 'Of course he's a very good player so I want him to stay longer.' In a social media post after he was named captain, Romero spoke of his joy at winning the Europa League in May and his desire to achieve more success this season. Romero posted: 'Today begins a new season for us, one that is truly special to me. 'Becoming the first captain of this beautiful club is an incredible honour. I arrived here four years ago with a single dream: to write my name into the club's history and leave my mark by winning a trophy, and I achieved that. Now, a new journey is in front of us. 'A beautiful season lies ahead, and together we will work to relive the joy of that unforgettable day, May 21, 2025. Whatever happens along the way, I ask only one thing: stay united. 'There will be highs and lows, but together, nothing is impossible. Come on you Spurs.'

Tottenham prepare £60m bid for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze
By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on August 18, 2025, 16:37 IST Tottenham Hotspur are making a major move in the transfer market as they prepare a £60 million (€70m) package, including add-ons, to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano. The 26-year-old England international has been one of Palace's standout performers in recent seasons, impressing with his creativity, dribbling, and ability to unlock defenses. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several top Premier League clubs monitoring his progress. However, Spurs have now emerged as frontrunners to secure his signature. Eze is said to have informed Palace last week of his desire to leave Selhurst Park and join their London rivals, giving Spurs a crucial boost in their pursuit. Tottenham view him as a marquee signing who can add dynamism and flair to Ange Postecoglou's midfield as the club continues to push for Champions League qualification. For Palace, losing Eze would be a significant blow. The attacking midfielder has been central to their attacking play, combining well with the likes of Michael Olise and Wilfried Zaha in previous seasons. His departure would not only leave a creative void but also raise questions about the club's ambitions heading into the new campaign.
