The actress, 35, said she's 'always psyched' to shoot intimate scenes as she discussed her experiences with them on the Tuesday, June 10 episode of the Good Hang podcast, while promoting her new movie Materialists.
When asked by host Amy Poehler how she prepares for sex scenes, Johnson jokingly responded, 'I don't have to. I'm, like, always psyched up for sex.'
The actress continued: 'I recently did a movie a few months ago, and we had an intimacy coordinator on set and it was the time I've ever worked with one. And she was really great. It was so cool. because I'm so used to just you know, like... It's a sex scene. It's not sexy; it doesn't feel good.'

Johnson shared on the podcast that she prepares for sex scenes by figuring out the background of the character she's playing at the time.
'First, it depends on who the character is and who the character's supposed to be to the audience,' she said. 'Is she like a super idolized hot girl? Is she a housewife? Is she lonely? Is she scared? Is she conservative? So that's obviously character work.'
The Fifty Shades of Grey star explained that there's also 'certain prep' that goes into the physicality of the scene, adding, 'I want to feel good in my body if I'm showing my body.'
Johnson, whose parents are actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, said she credits her mom for encouraging her to feel comfortable in her skin and to talk about sex, which has helped significantly in shooting such vulnerable scenes.
'My mom raised me to be really proud of my body and love my body,' the actress shared on the podcast. 'So I've always felt so grateful for that, especially in my work because I can use it and it feels like real.'
'It was the way she spoke about it with me … she was very honest and open about body stuff, like getting my period,' Johnson recalled. 'She also talked to me about sex and how precious and important it is. So I guess in my work, it's something that I feel brave with and that I feel, when it's used the right way in a story, it's important.'

'I felt betrayed: 'Love is Blind' star Lydia explains why she divorced husband Milton
'I felt betrayed: 'Love is Blind' star Lydia explains why she divorced husband Milton Show Caption Hide Caption Need a show to binge? These are the must watch shows this summer USA TODAY's TV critic Kelly Lawler breaks down the best TV shows you don't to want to miss this summer Fan favorite "Love Is Blind" couple Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson are divorcing after three years of marriage. The pair, who met on Season 5 of the hit Netflix dating show, are splitting after turmoil in their marriage, Gonzalez revealed on a Wednesday, June 11 episode of the What's the Reality? podcast. While their marriage once felt like a fairy tale, the 34-year-old geologist said she now feels that Johnson was never ready to be a husband. "It wasn't one thing. Yeah, it was a layer of situations and things that just kept piling it up," Gonzalez told host and fellow "Love Is Blind" alum Amber Desiree "AD" Smith. When Gonzalez informed Johnson that she would file for divorce, he allegedly said he would not sign them unless there was a non-disclosure agreement. "And that said enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth and my experience, because I've been suffering in silence," she said. "This is just my chance to speak my truth for me and for other people that always reach out to me and tell me that I'm an inspiration. I feel that it was very hypocritical me not share this with the world when they have been so transparent with me." Lydia said Milton would not cut off 'disrespectful' ex-partner One of the first signs of trouble in their marriage was an argument the two had about one of Johnson's ex-partners, according to Gonzalez. She considered the woman "very insistent" and "very disrespectful towards our marriage." She added that he also kept a ripped up love letter from the woman in a shoebox at their apartment. At one point, Gonzalez went through Johnson's phone and said she found a text from him referring to the woman that read "I want to (expletive) that person." "When I saw that my heart went to the floor. I felt like betrayed and disrespected," she said. "And then I remember calling him and telling him, 'how long has it been that you want to (expletive) this person.' And he was like, 'what are we talking about.'" Johnson denied any infidelity, adding that he would never jeopardize their marriage and said "that's how boys talk," according to Gonzalez. USA TODAY has reached out to Johnson for comment. 'Love is Blind' pair tried marriage counseling Gonzalez said that her husband felt that she had violated their trust and one day called her "stupid and an untrustworthy person." "I don't consider myself a jealous person, unless you give me motives to, once you give me motives to I'll become a detective. I don't care because my gut instinct is so clever. I mean, it never fails me," she said. She added that the two participated in couple's therapy but that she felt it was not working. Gonzalez said other issues included Johnson becoming distant and addicted to the video game "Halo" and him allegedly scolding her in front of his family for cursing too much. Over time, she said his comments "kept making me feel small" and eventually made the decision to end the relationship she once felt showed her the "kind of love that I've never received before." The pair met on Season 5 of the reality dating show on Netflix, in which contestants looking for romance interact via pods designed to keep their appearances a mystery.

Kelley Wolf and Scott Wolf are starting new chapters in their life. The 48-year-old 'Real World: New Orleans' alum, who has since become a life coach and podcaster, took to Instagram on June 10 to announce that she and her husband, Scott Wolf, are divorcing. The pair were married for 21 years and share three kids — Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11. 'It is with a heavy heart that Scott and I are moving forward with the dissolution of our marriage,' she wrote in the caption alongside an image of three eagles flying over a female lion. 'This has been a long, quiet journey for me—rooted in hope, patience, and care for our children,' she continued, adding that she won't speak publicly about the details. 'I feel peace knowing that I've done everything I can to walk this path with integrity and compassion,' she added. In his own statement shared with People, Scott Wolf said 'After 21 years of marriage, I have made the most difficult decision of my life, and filed for divorce from my wife Kelley. Our children have always been, and continue to be, the loves of our lives and our every priority, so I kindly ask for privacy at this time as we help guide them through this new chapter.' Kelley Wolf met Scott Wolf, best known for his roles in 'Party of Five,' 'The Nine' and 'Nancy Drew,' in 2002 after she was an hour late to their blind date, according to Us Weekly. The couple tied the knot two years later and welcomed their first child, Jackson, in 2009. Miller was born in 2012 and Lucy followed in 2014. In her June 10 caption, Kelley Wolf praised her estranged husband and revealed what's next. 'Scott Wolf is one of the best fathers I've ever known and one of the best partners a woman could have the privilege of sharing life with. He is kind, thoughtful, funny, and beautiful in spirit,' she wrote. 'We both look forward to an extraordinary life centered around the most extraordinary children,' she added. 'My priority has always been their wellbeing—and my own healing. That will never change.' Kelley Wolf's announcement comes five months after Scott Wolf admitted to troubles in their marriage. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, which took place in January, Scott Wolf opened up about how the two have faced a slew of 'challenges' that have 'changed the way I see happiness.' 'My family's been through some stuff over the past few years,' he told Us Weekly at the time. 'This period of time has been weird for a lot of people. And we sort of got blown in the wind a little bit, moved around a bunch, and [I] watched my children deal with all of that,' he added. In her June 10 Instagram post, Kelley Wolf wrote that she was 'stepping into a chapter of peace, freedom, and protection — with grace.' 'May we all remember: healing isn't loud. It's sacred,' she added. As for Scott Wolf, he last posted about his marriage on Feb. 14 in a Valentine's Day tribute to his wife and daughter. 'To my forever Valentines. You have my whole heart and always will. The most beautiful, kind, wise, brave, powerful people in my life. I love you so very much,' he wrote in the caption. He later posted a cryptic video on May 25 about 'when the heart breaks' and the 'meaning of life.'
