'The club is going to build': Milos Kerkez issues Liverpool warning after completing £40m transfer
Milos Kerkez says Liverpool can only get 'a lot better' next season after completing his transfer. Kerkez has become the Reds' third major signing of the summer, following Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz through the doors at Anfield. Advertisement If reports are to be believed that the Hungary international cost Liverpool in the region of £40m from Bournemouth, then that takes their spending to just under £200m. Kerkez arrives on Merseyside on the back of an impressive season with the Cherries in which he featured in all 38 Premier League games, scoring twice and weighing in with six assists. The 21-year-old will now aim to help Liverpool retain the league title and has issued an ominous warning to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea. 'Yeah, definitely. This is a club that wants to win, needs to win. Of course it's a big thing last season, completely dominated everyone I think, and of course big congratulations,' he told the club's official website. Advertisement 'But always, you know, you need to want more and definitely from last season I think this season the club is going to build on it and only get a lot better. Milos Kerkez has signed a long-term deal with Liverpool (Liverpool FC via Getty Images) Kerkez has also set his sights on winning trophies during his time at Liverpool, particularly the Champions League - a competition the Reds fell short in last season as they crashed out on penalties to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain at the round of 16 stage. 'Obviously to reach my potential to the fullest and to be the best player I can,' he added. 'And help the team win trophies. I think it's everyone's dream to win trophies – win the league, win the Champions League – and this club is meant for it. Advertisement 'And that's my dream and I'm going to give everything to reach that.' Kerkez will report for pre-season training next month and his Premier League debut for Liverpool could come against former club Bournemouth in the opening game of the new season.

'The best': Milos Kerkez makes bold Andy Robertson claim as Liverpool confirm new signing
New Liverpool signing Milos Kerkez says Andy Robertson is 'the best left-back' in Premier League history. The Reds have moved to bolster their options in the left-back department after announcing Kerkez's £40m transfer from fellow Premier League outfit Bournemouth on Thursday morning. Advertisement Kerkez played his part in a record-breaking 2024/2025 season for the Cherries, scoring twice and chipping in with six assists in 38 appearances. That said, his arrival has raised speculation over the future of Robertson. The Scotland international is approaching the final year of his contract at Anfield and there has been talk of an exit this summer. Recent reports have suggested that Atletico Madrid are keen to bring the left-back to Spain if he does decide to leave Liverpool. However, Kerkez is keen for Robertson to stay so he can learn from the 31-year-old. Speaking to the club's official website, the Hungarian said: 'Yeah, really excited, like I say. I had a conversation with my brothers and we always say that, also for me personally, Robbo is the best left-back that played in the Premier League, for me, and my brothers agree on that also. Advertisement 'So, to come and to be next to such a player who has so much experience, played so many years on a high level, won the Champions League and everything, it's important for me. 'Like I said, all the guys are good and they're all going to help me to reach a higher potential. I'm looking forward to it.'

Exclusive: Joao Cancelo reflects on Pep Guardiola and Manchester City career
Former Manchester City defender and now Al Hilal right-back Joao Cancelo has spoken fondly to City Xtra of his time at the Etihad Stadium and working with Pep Guardiola. The Portugal international defender was reunited with Manchester City players and staff on Monday night, as the Premier League giants went head-to-head with Al Hilal in the last-16 of the FIFA Club World Cup. Advertisement And it was Joao Cancelo who emerged victorious, as he played a leading role in the Saudi Pro League side's dramatic comeback and extra-time victory over Pep Guardiola's side to set up a last-eight meeting with Fluminense following a 3-4 win in Orlando, Florida. In the build-up to the game, manager Guardiola spoke fondly of the work he achieved with Cancelo during their time together at the club, before it is believed that a personal disagreement away from the spotlight led to the player's exit. Nevertheless, there are certainly no hard feelings between the pair, with Pep Guardiola piling on the praise for his former defender, and now Cancelo himself repaying those comments with some love of his own in the opposition direction. Speaking exclusively to City Xtra Português this week, Joao Cancelo has glowed with praise when discussing his former coach at the Etihad Stadium in Pep Guardiola, with the pair having reunited at the Camping World Stadium this week. Advertisement 'He was the best coach I had in my career and I thank him for everything he helped me achieve in my career,' the Portugal international said of Guardiola. 'He is the best of the best.' Reflecting on his time in the North-West of England, Cancelo continued, 'I have a very special affection for Manchester City. 'I will always be grateful for everything they gave me and everything I achieved. My daughter Alicia was born in Manchester, so you can see why I can't forget it.' The comments from the Al Hilal right-back, who won almost everything available to him across the course of his Manchester City career, were sparked by Pep Guardiola's own comments during a press conference last weekend. Advertisement The Manchester City manager said of Cancelo, 'I have incredible respect for Joao and everyone. 'He has an incredible heart, but was upset and sad because he didn't play, he LOVES to play! When I said, 'Training is over', he said, 'No! One more!' He LOVES to play football, and I'm happy he had the experience in Barcelona, and after in Al Hilal, happy he's back from injury.'
