Inside White Lotus star Jason Isaacs' life from addiction battle to family with TV wife
Jason Isaacs, known for his role as the nefarious Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and a host of other memorable characters, has made quite an impact in the latest season of HBO's The White Lotus. Portraying Timothy Ratliff, a man on the FBI's radar for illicit financial activities, Isaacs' character is on a fast track to incarceration.
The 61-year-old actor's performance, particularly in one standout scene, has been a hot topic among fans of the series. With a career spanning roles such as Georgy Zhukov in The Death of Stalin, Captain Gabriel Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery, and a turn in The Curse of Steptoe, Isaacs has certainly left his mark on both television and film.
Away from the spotlight, Isaacs leads a tranquil life in London with his family, but there's more to his story than his acting achievements.

Jason Isaacs has openly discussed his journey to sobriety after a long-standing battle with drug and alcohol addiction.
On Rob Brydon's podcast, Brydon &, the actor candidly shared his past struggles, admitting that substance abuse initially provided an escape from feeling like an outsider.
Isaacs confessed: "I liked being out of it, it was fun at first because it made me feel less other."
"I always felt uncomfortable in my own skin, I always felt as if I was faking being with people, that they all seemed to be more comfortable.
"When we were all high, or drunk, or whatever it was, we were all in the same state, it was an equalizer. And I loved the equalizer."
When asked about the duration of his addiction, he revealed: "Oh for decades. Not only didn't it get in the way of work, I was working at a very high level, on stage and on camera - my career was great.
"It was the personal life that wasn't great. I haven't taken drugs for 25 years. It's one of those professions, it may be less tolerant now, I don't see it now."
After overcoming his addiction, Jason Isaacs found joy in simplicity, saying, "I have learned to find simple happiness in simple things."
Jason Isaacs is happily married to Emma Hewitt, a former documentary filmmaker, since 2001. The couple first crossed paths while attending the Central School of Speech and Drama back in the late 1980s.
Together, they are proud parents to two daughters, Lily and Ruby, born in 2002 and 2005 respectively.
Emma Hewitt has a notable background in television, having worked on series such as Soldier Soldier, Jeeves and Wooster, Summer's Lease, Casualty, and other British TV classics.
The Isaacs family resides near Queen's Park in north west London, where they've made their home for over four decades, as reported by the media.
Jason Isaacs also has ties to Los Angeles, owning property there.
In his downtime, Jason Isaacs enjoys simple pleasures like scouring local car boot sales with his daughters, grabbing a coffee at Starbucks, or catching a movie at the nearby cinema.

Check your gadgets: FBI warns millions of streaming devices infected by malware
The FBI issued a public warning last week about a massive cybercrime operation exploiting everyday internet-connected devices. The botnet, dubbed BADBOX 2.0, has quietly infiltrated millions of TV streaming boxes, digital projectors, tablets, car infotainment systems, and other smart gadgets commonly found in homes across the U.S. What BADBOX 2.0 actually does Once compromised, these devices don't just underperform or crash, they secretly enlist your home internet connection into a residential proxy network. That means cybercriminals can hide behind your IP address to commit crimes like ad fraud, data scraping, and more. All of it happens behind the scenes, without the victim's knowledge. Recommended Videos 'This is all completely unbeknownst to the poor users that have bought this device just to watch Netflix or whatever,' said Gavin Reid, chief information security officer at cybersecurity firm Human Security, in an interview with Wired. What devices are affected? According to the FBI, BADBOX 2.0 has infected: TV streaming boxes Digital projectors Aftermarket vehicle infotainment systems Digital picture frames Most of these devices are manufactured in China and marketed under generic or unrecognizable brand names. Security researchers estimate at least 1 million active infections globally, with the botnet potentially encompassing several million devices overall. The worst offenders belong to the 'TV98' and 'X96' families of Android-based devices, both of which are currently available for purchase on Amazon. In the example below, one of the potentially problematic devices is advertised as 'Amazon's Choice.' How the infections happens There are two primary sources for infection: Pre-installed malware: Some devices arrive already compromised, having been tampered with before reaching store shelves. Malicious app installs: During setup, users are often prompted to install apps from unofficial marketplaces, where malware-laced software opens backdoors. This marks an evolution from the original BADBOX campaign, which relied primarily on firmware-level infections. The new version is more nimble, using software tricks and fake apps to broaden its reach. How to tell is your device is infected Here are the red flags to watch for: The device asks you to disable Google Play Protect It comes from an unfamiliar or no-name brand It's advertised as 'unlocked' or able to stream free content It directs you to download apps from unofficial app stores You notice unexplained internet traffic on your home network How to protect your home network To stay safe, the FBI recommends the following precautions: Avoid unofficial app stores . Stick to the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store. . Stick to the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store. Don't chase suspicious bargains . Never In A Million Years Did I Think Tom Felton Would Play Draco Malfoy Again, But It's Happening (And Fans Are Freaking Out)
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. While there's a small part of me that's always hopeful actors from the Harry Potter movies' cast could return to Hogwarts in some way, shape or form, a bigger part of me knows it's unlikely. However, today, my mind was blown as I learned that Tom Felton will be reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can safely say that I never thought this would happen, and I'm freaking out. It turns out, the fans are in the same boat. Starting in November, Tom Felton will play Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Per Today, he'll be in the New York production for 19 weeks, and he'll be the first person from the film's ensemble to play a part on stage. He's thrilled about it too, telling the morning show: Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in 'Cursed Child' this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. In the past, when asked about the potential to return as his character or make a Cursed Child movie, Felton has been a bit skeptical, saying in 2019 (via Red Carpet News TV) that 'everything that needed to be done was done' in the original movies. He also said on Happy Sad Confused that he would 'consider' a return to the Harry Potter world, and he'd be 'happy to pop up as an extra' in something like the Harry Potter TV show. This is all to say, while not impossible, I never thought he'd play Draco again. I was managing my expectations. However, here we are. Felton will make his Broadway debut by playing his character for the first time in 15 years. As he said, 'it's surreal," so it's understandable why the fans and I are freaking out. Immediately after it was announced that OG Draco would be playing his character again from November 11, 2025, to March 22, 2026, on Broadway, fans freaked out. After seeing the post below of Felton in his Malfoy outfit, platinum blonde hair and all, the comments started rolling in. Fans can't wait to see him play the older version of his Harry Potter character, and I'm right there with them. As Felton said, he's the perfect age again to be playing Draco, and it'll be remarkable to see him take on the same character in a different medium. When reacting to all of this, fans commented: I THINK MY BRAIN JUST EXPLODED - 😮😮😮-keviclifton I'm sorry, what?! Currently screaming! -stephaniespensieve i am SAT -jordanfisher I am running to buy tickets 😍😍 - Can someone check on my 2011 self? She's screaming and crying right now. -giovannadavim Screaming crying throwing up 😭💚💚💚 best thing ever -dracodormiensss HOLD MY BUTTERBEER - If I have enough money , I would get a plane just to watch it 😍 -karensarmento What?! That's amazing news!😍 I will 100 % come and see him play Draco!😍😍 -jilmerlin Overall, I'm with these fans. While Tom Felton speaks positively about Harry Potter frequently and has made cute comments about potentially returning, I never thought it'd happen in such a massive way. So, like these fans, I might have to figure out how to get tickets to Cursed Child on Broadway. Pre-sale for his run begins on June 10 at 11 am. ET, and I know I'll consider partaking in it. However, if you can't get to New York, don't worry, you can still see Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy by streaming the Harry Potter movies with an HBO Max subscription. Plus, with a massive development like this, the idea of other original cast members coming back for the stage production or the new series feels like an actual possibility rather than a far-off dream.
