Never In A Million Years Did I Think Tom Felton Would Play Draco Malfoy Again, But It's Happening (And Fans Are Freaking Out)
While there's a small part of me that's always hopeful actors from the Harry Potter movies' cast could return to Hogwarts in some way, shape or form, a bigger part of me knows it's unlikely. However, today, my mind was blown as I learned that Tom Felton will be reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
I can safely say that I never thought this would happen, and I'm freaking out. It turns out, the fans are in the same boat.
Starting in November, Tom Felton will play Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Per Today, he'll be in the New York production for 19 weeks, and he'll be the first person from the film's ensemble to play a part on stage. He's thrilled about it too, telling the morning show:
Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in 'Cursed Child' this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.
In the past, when asked about the potential to return as his character or make a Cursed Child movie, Felton has been a bit skeptical, saying in 2019 (via Red Carpet News TV) that 'everything that needed to be done was done' in the original movies. He also said on Happy Sad Confused that he would 'consider' a return to the Harry Potter world, and he'd be 'happy to pop up as an extra' in something like the Harry Potter TV show.
This is all to say, while not impossible, I never thought he'd play Draco again. I was managing my expectations. However, here we are. Felton will make his Broadway debut by playing his character for the first time in 15 years. As he said, 'it's surreal," so it's understandable why the fans and I are freaking out.
Immediately after it was announced that OG Draco would be playing his character again from November 11, 2025, to March 22, 2026, on Broadway, fans freaked out. After seeing the post below of Felton in his Malfoy outfit, platinum blonde hair and all, the comments started rolling in.
Fans can't wait to see him play the older version of his Harry Potter character, and I'm right there with them. As Felton said, he's the perfect age again to be playing Draco, and it'll be remarkable to see him take on the same character in a different medium. When reacting to all of this, fans commented:

Overall, I'm with these fans. While Tom Felton speaks positively about Harry Potter frequently and has made cute comments about potentially returning, I never thought it'd happen in such a massive way.
So, like these fans, I might have to figure out how to get tickets to Cursed Child on Broadway. Pre-sale for his run begins on June 10 at 11 am. ET, and I know I'll consider partaking in it.
However, if you can't get to New York, don't worry, you can still see Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy by streaming the Harry Potter movies with an HBO Max subscription. Plus, with a massive development like this, the idea of other original cast members coming back for the stage production or the new series feels like an actual possibility rather than a far-off dream.

Crowd all in white flocks to Montrose Harbor for Le Dîner en Blanc
The social event of the season took place along Chicago's north lakefront Thursday night. Le Dîner en Blanc returned to Chicago with the theme "Blooming Elegance." The annual pop-up picnic is held at a secret location each year. This time, it was at Montrose Harbor. A total of 3,000 people were expected. At Le Dîner en Blanc, guests wear all white as they bring their chairs, tables, tablecloths, china, silverware, and food for a massive picnic. People are often seated with strangers to make new friends and meet new people. "This event really is about bringing everyone from across the city together," said director and cohost Lauren Haras. "What we've loved about our event here in Chicago as that we have always represented every section of the city. It's not just North Side, South Side, East Side, West Side. It is the entire city coming together to just celebrate friendship and community and enjoy a beautiful public space in the city." Why does everyone wear white? Haras said it all has to do with the origins of Le Dîner en Blanc in Paris in 1988. François Pasquier and his family had been living in Tahiti from a few years, and wanted a place to celebrate with friends when they moved back to Paris. "They wanted to meet new friends, because they hadn't lived there in a long time, so they asked their friends to have a picnic in their backyard," Haras said. But it turned out the backyard was too small, so they had the picnic in le Bois de Boulogne, the massive park in Paris' 16th arrondissement. "It got bigger, because they wanted to make new friends, so every event they have every year, they would have their friends bring one new friend," Haras said, "and that's the whole premise of this event is you come to the event, and you sponsor another person to come." They had everyone wear white because it had been years and the Pasquiers weren't sure everyone would recognize each other, but everyone would know they were in the right place if they were wearing a color that stood out. Le Dîner En Blanc is now held in more than 80 cities worldwide. The event first came to Chicago in 2012 and has been hosted at locations like Daley Plaza, the Lincoln Park Zoo, Merchandise Mart Plaza, and along Chicago's lakefront. CBS News New York has sometimes put a reporter on New York City Dîner en Blanc events for its 11 p.m. news over the years — as it has moved from the Lincoln Center Lawn to Governors Island to Battery Park. In Philadelphia, Le Dîner en Blanc made history for a wedding proposal in 2017. The first Dîner en Blanc in Milwaukee is coming up this Aug. 30.

This Mini was way harder than a typical Friday edition. It's a very clever puzzle, though! As you can see, the crossword itself looks like a domino, and when you fill in the circled letters it spells DOMINOES. It must be an homage to the new NYT game Pips. As far as solving this monster, I was lucky to just know enough of these to fill in the rest. I was pretty sure about SHEDS because my current house has like six sheds, all of which were there when I bought people whose last name was Shedd. I am not kidding. I knew for sure that 6-Across was ALIEN and was 99% sure that 4-Down was SONGS. 7-Down was clearly EAR. In the second block, YAM was an obvious sweet potato and ASHES seemed like a safe bet. 12-Down was obviously AMISH. And MOE is the bartender from The Simpsons. At this point, I had enough filled in to start taking a crack at the rest. The whole thing took me 1:46 but I could see this one taking people longer just because of how odd and different it is.
