LA Times Today: ‘Parade' revival marks homecoming for Valley natives

Winner of the 2023 Tony for best Broadway revival of a musical, 'Parade' is on tour and currently on stage at the Ahmanson Theater in downtown L.A. It's a gripping, true story about the trial of Leo Frank, a Jewish man in 1913 Georgia. It mixes heartbreak, history and a whole lot of Broadway brilliance. The show is also a homecoming of sorts for two actors who got their start in a community theater program in the San Fernando Valley.

Bob Dylan, 84, Stumps Fans With Incredibly Cryptic Post: 'I'm So Confused'

Bob Dylan, 84, Stumps Fans With Incredibly Cryptic Post: 'I'm So Confused' originally appeared on Parade. Bob Dylan has never been a straightforward man. Across his over 60 years of performing, his brand, identity, and process have been nothing short of American legend. The man has been mythologized as far more than just a musician, but a cultural idea that is synonymous with the spirit of the nation. The confusion of Dylan's character has been amplified on social media as he gets into his later years, as there have been many odd posts between his different accounts, including the series of AI videos of various dead figures of American history, including Edgar Allen Poe and Al Capone. Yesterday however, a new cryptic post went up, along with some interesting ads cropping up in cities around the country. The video features a phone number, and the song "Like A Rolling Stone." Fans were extremely confused, taking to the comments to question it. "What does that mean? Can I text it?" "Is this Bob Dylan's actual number?" "I'm so confused." I was confused, too, so I did some more digging to try and figure out what was up, which led me to a Reddit post by some curious Dylan fans. Before I get to the meat of the mystery, I'd like to mention the billboards and posters put up around cities. As a younger Dylan fan, I haven't really seen many announcements from him, so it's really cool to see this modern album rollout style promotion for this new (808) Unknown campaign. 60 Years of Highway 61 Revisited Of course, that leads to what the promotions are for, and that is the 60th anniversary of "Highway 61 Revisited." Contacting the number will eventually lead to this website, which is extremely cool: Highway 61 Revisited. The website has tons of interesting things for Dylan fans, including a personalized playlist and graphic, sections on history, cool interactive elements, and a free downloadable zine about the album. It's a treasure trove for fans of the album. "Highway 61 Revisited" turns 60 years old on August 30th, and I'll be very anxious to see what Dylan and his team have in store for celebrations.🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Bob Dylan, 84, Stumps Fans With Incredibly Cryptic Post: 'I'm So Confused' first appeared on Parade on Aug 19, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 19, 2025, where it first appeared. Mysterious Announcement From The Beatles' Official Account Sends Fans Into a Frenzy

Mysterious Announcement From The Beatles' Official Account Sends Fans Into a Frenzy originally appeared on Parade. It's always a big deal when The Beatles are mentioned. Throughout their history and beyond, any announcements from these titans of the industry will send shockwaves throughout the music world, and this is surely to be no exception. We're certainly not used to hearing announcements from The Beatles. Since the release of "Now and Then" in 2023, there hasn't been much news from the Fab Four, save for the announcement of the led film project about the four Liverpool icons. That's what makes this brand new post from the band so huge, and so... mysterious. Posted to their Instagram account just 2 hours ago, an extremely vague announcement was made with just four simple graphics. Featuring collages of the band throughout the years filling the space of each of the numbers, there are certainly a lot of interpretations that could come, and fans were more than happy to share them in the comments. "I don't know what this means, but I know I should be excited." "Can I have a little more??" "Anthology 4 confirmed???" The Beatles' Anthology Series The last comment there is referring to the Anthology series of compilation albums, documentaries, and books that have comprised one of the most complete looks at the Beatles history. Volume four (if that's what they are teasing) would be the fourth in a series of compilation albums that include many studio version, unreleased songs, and bootlegs from their entire history, spanning two decades. The theory seems likely, as the anthology series features a similar style of patchwork collage style art on all of its covers. Of course, this is complicated by all of the news surrounding the film, and the cryptic display on The Beatles' website. The landing page features this interesting count from 1 to 4, and the text reads "Stay Tuned." Whether its another anthology album, another piece of the anthology mythos, or something else, I'm sure we're excited to hear anything that comes from such a legendary group.🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Mysterious Announcement From The Beatles' Official Account Sends Fans Into a Frenzy first appeared on Parade on Aug 19, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 19, 2025, where it first appeared. Machine Gun Kelly Earns High Praise From ‘90s Rock Star: ‘It's Not Fake'

Machine Gun Kelly Earns High Praise From '90s Rock Star: 'It's Not Fake' originally appeared on Parade. Machine Gun Kelly received full support from Third Eye Blind's frontman Stephan Jenkins. Over the years, the 35-year-old musician, whose real name is Colson Baker, has earned his place in the rock scene through his rebellious yet emotional songs and high-energy performances. Among those who were impressed with MGK was the '90s frontman who applauded not just his approach to music but his personality. Ahead of the band's concert in New York, Jenkins reflected on his meeting with the 'Emo Girl' singer, praising him for his sincerity and authenticity. 'He's such a genuine, open-hearted person,' he told US Magazine, adding, 'You meet him, and it's like you're really getting the real thing. He's sincere, and there's just this genuine feeling that rolls with him.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by mgk (@machinegunkelly) During the exclusive interview with the outlet, the 60-year-old lead singer admitted that he doesn't always show his true self right away, but said it was different with the singer-rapper. 'I think so many people — most of us and myself included — I've got my shield up, and you're kind of meeting my representative most of the time,' he added. He also put the spotlight on the singer's warm and approachable demeanor, noting that it came across as sincere and far from fake. 'And it's disarming when you meet MGK, because he named himself after a machine gun-wielding felon, and he's just like this really warm presence,' Jenkins continued. 'But it's not fake. It's not some smarmy anodyne kind of nonsense. There's something genuine about him.' MGK had the opportunity to work alongside Third Eye Blind's frontman for his new album, Lost Americana. One track from the album includes a nod to the group's hit song. In a post on X, he shared the surprising story behind his song 'Starman' and how he successfully cleared the sample of 'Semi-Charmed Life' even after facing resistance from the National Guard. mgk got the "Semi-Charmed Life" sample cleared after facing the National Guard:"I said, 'Will you believe in this mission and let me accomplish it?' I better hear it on the album.'""starman" by mgk sampled "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind.🎥… — mgkmagic (@mgkmagic) August 6, 2025 With 'Starman' sampling one of the most recognizable anthems of the '90s, MGK isn't just paying homage to the past, he is reintroducing it with a fresh, fun twist for a younger Gun Kelly Earns High Praise From '90s Rock Star: 'It's Not Fake' first appeared on Parade on Aug 20, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 20, 2025, where it first appeared.
