Vishnu Prasad succumbed to the illness while his family and colleagues were gearing up for the actor's liver transplant. Although his daughter had volunteered to donate her liver, the family was struggling to raise the huge amount of money required for the treatment. According to OnManorama, Vishnu's family faced the challenge of raising Rs 30 lakh for his surgery. While the Association of Television Media Artistes (ATMA) had initiated a fundraising campaign to help them, his health deteriorated on Thursday, resulting in his demise. He is survived by his daughters Abhirami and Ananika.
Known for his performance in movies such as actor Vikram's Kasi (the 2001 Tamil remake of director Vinayan's 1999 Malayalam drama Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum), Fahadh Faasil's Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), Dileep's Runway (2004) and Lion (2006), Mohanlal's Mambazhakkalam (2004), Kalabhavan Mani's Ben Johnson (2005) and Lokanathan IAS (2005), and Suresh Gopi's Pathaka (2006), Vishnu Prasad was also a notable face in the realm of television serials.

Housefull 5 box office collection day 5: Akshay Kumar's whodunit comedy beats Gold, Housefull 2 and 3; inches closer to surpassing Holiday, Sky Force

After struggling for years to score a hit, Akshay Kumar finally seems to be on the right path with Tarun Mansukhani's whodunit comedy Housefull 5, in which he leads an ensemble of 20 actors. Kumar's last success was Sky Force earlier this year, but Housefull 5 is likely to surpass its lifetime collection in a week. On Tuesday, Housefull 5 earned Rs 10.75 crore across both its A and B versions, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. This was a minor dip from its Monday earnings of Rs 13 crore. However, sustaining double digits after day 3 has allowed Housefull 5 to pass the crucial Monday test. Over its opening weekend, the film earned Rs 24 crore, Rs 31 crore, and Rs 32.5 crore on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. As per Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Housefull 5 in India stands at Rs 111.25 crore. In the process, it has beaten the lifetime domestic collection of Kumar's 2018 period sports drama Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, which concluded at Rs 104.72 crore. Housefull 5 has also crossed the collections of two previous instalments of the comedy franchise. Housefull 5 has beaten Sajid-Farhad's Housefull 3, which earned Rs 109.14 crore in 2016, as well as Sajid Khan's Housefull 2, which collected Rs 106 crore in 2012, and turned out to be Kumar's maiden Rs 100 crore hit. Since then, he has delivered 12 films which made it to the Rs 100 crore club — Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore (2012), Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014), Housefull 3, Rustom (2016), Toilet – Ek Prem Katha (2017), Gold, 2.0 (2018), Kesari (2019), Mission Mangal (2019), Housefull 4 (2019), and Good Newwz (Rs 205.14 crore), and now, Hosuefull 5. Given its current trajectory, Housefull 5 is most likely to beat the lifetime collection of Holiday (Rs 112.45 crore) and Sky Force (Rs 112.75 crore) today on its sixth day at the box office. Housefull 5 also seems to have benefitted from its two versions (A and B) that have been released in cinemas simultaneously. The ending and the killer are different in each version. Housefull 5, which enjoyed a solo Hindi release last week, has one more week to go before it faces fresh competition from RS Prasanna's coming-of-age sports comedy Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan. Produced by the actor, it's a spiritual sequel to his 2008 directorial debut Taare Zameen Par. Interestingly, that film also clashed with another Kumar blockbuster, Anees Bazmee's action comedy Singh Is Kinng. Nadiadwala has also written the story and screenplay of Housefull 5. Also featuring Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Soundarya Sharma, Jackie Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Sanjay Dutt among others. Housefull franchise kicked off in 2010 with the first instalment helmed by Sajid Khan, which made Rs 75 crore at the domestic box office.

Glen Powell's ex addresses Sydney Sweeney cheating rumours, recalls what he said to her: ‘I was just fed to the dogs'

Glen Powell's ex-girlfriend, Gigi Paris, recently broke her silence on their high-profile split. The duo first made headlines when they started dating around early 2020 after being spotted together on a romantic trip. They went Instagram official in 2021 and stayed together for three years. However, in 2023, while Glen was filming his romantic comedy Anyone But You in Australia with Sydney Sweeney, rumours started surfacing that the co-stars' chemistry had spilled off-screen. At the time, Gigi and Powell's relationship had already landed in trouble, partly because of the distance, but the rumours made things more difficult. By April 2023, Gigi and Glen had officially broken up. Now, Gigi is giving a rare insight into what went down. On the Too Much podcast, hosted by Emma Klipstein, Paris revealed exactly how hurtful and messy the entire situation was for her. Referring to the wild speculations, she said, 'I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, 'Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this? What the f—?' Or stand up for myself and say, 'No, I'm actually not okay with this, and I'm walking away.' So that's what I decided to do… I was shattered.' (Via People) Also read: Sydney Sweeney calls herself 'really vicious', says it's 'kind of psychotic' how she jumps in character: 'I feel bad for my co-stars' Klipstein pressed Paris on whether she ever received clarity from Powell about their relationship, and if there was any moment that stuck with her. The model described an incident when she was supposed to fly to Australia to visit him. He told her that he and the producers decided it would be best if she didn't visit. That phone call completely broke her. 'And that's when I hung up. And I was like, this motherf—– is done to me,' she added. 'I think that's where I just also fell out of love… I was like, where the f— are your balls to stand up for yourself?' Still, she flew to Australia to confront him face to face, but claimed she wasn't allowed anywhere near the movie set or production. She was stuck there for two weeks for work, but was kept away from Glen's filming activities. She called the entire experience 'very bizarre.' Paris also said she was frustrated that Glen never publicly defended her while people speculated that he and Sydney were secretly together. All he had to do was publicly deny the rumours and say, 'I would never cheat on my girlfriend.' But he never said anything like that, which made her feel abandoned. Later, it was suggested that the rumours around Glen and Sydney's 'flirty behaviour' during the film's promotions were part of a publicity stunt to create buzz and help sell the movie. 'And I honestly hoped that they'd end up together, because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me, you know? I hope they are in love or whatnot,' she said. Also read: Sydney Sweeney opens up about leaked Euphoria 3 picture, says her character Cassie 'is worse than ever' Even today, Gigi says she doesn't know for sure if Glen actually cheated on her or not. She claimed all she had heard were different versions of the story. But what she wanted was respect, which she never received. 'Like, don't make an a** out of me. Like, just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years, talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know? And at the end of the day, it was like, well, work comes first. And if that's the case, power to you, that's your priority. I gotta walk away. What su*** was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.' Sydney Sweeney, meanwhile, was engaged to Jonathan Davino during the time of promotions. The duo ended their relationship earlier this year. Sydney once remarked that fans love seeing onscreen couples flirt offscreen, and both she and Glen leaned into those rumours because it helped sell the movie. Meanwhile, Glen, for his part, later admitted that the promotions were hard for him because he was going through a real breakup while pretending to have fun with Sydney for the movie's press tour.

Sony moves Bombay HC to challenge TDSAT stay on Tata Play disconnection

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has moved the Bombay High Court to challenge a recent Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) order restraining SPNI from proceeding with a disconnection notice issued to direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata Play . A division bench of the court comprising Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale on Tuesday issued notices to TDSAT and Tata Play, directing them to file their responses. The matter has been posted for further hearing on Monday, June 16. SPNI, a Sony Group Corp-owned entity operating under the legal name Culver Max Entertainment, runs 27 television channels. It issued a disconnection notice to Tata Play, the country's largest DTH operator with 18 million subscribers, after the latter decided to remove its channels from consumer packs following disagreements over the renewal of their annual subscription deal. While staying SPNI's disconnection notice on May 27, TDSAT had directed Tata Play to pay Rs 40 crore to the broadcaster within two weeks as part-payment against SPNI's claimed dues of Rs 128 crore. The tribunal said this amount would be adjusted against the final liability determined during the final hearing. People familiar with the dispute between the two said SPNI is seeking a fee hike, which Tata Play has resisted citing declining viewership of its channels. TDSAT in its order noted that not granting the stay could result in irreparable harm to Tata Play. It directed both parties to reconcile their differences, including at the account level. In the High Court, senior counsel Janak Dwarkadas, along with Sneha Jaisingh of Bharucha & Partners, appeared for SPNI to challenge the TDSAT order. Senior counsel Ravi Kadam is representing Tata Play. In the TDSAT, Tata Play's counsel argued that the broadcaster's demand was unjustified, claiming the company had already paid about Rs 4,000 crore over the past decade, including Rs 700 crore annually. They further contended that substantial payments had been made since SPNI's initial communication in March 2025, which had sought dues of Rs 300 crore. Tata Play, jointly owned by Tata Sons (70%) and Walt Disney (30%), reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 510 crore for FY25, up 44% from Rs 354 crore the previous year. Revenue declined 5.46% to Rs 4,082 crore, driven by subscriber losses amid increased competition from DD Free Dish and the rising popularity of OTT platforms. SPNI reported a 19% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 839 crore for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024. Revenue from operations fell 3% to Rs 6,510 crore, with advertising revenue declining 11% to Rs 2,912 crore, while subscription revenue rose 7% to Rs 3,346 crore. According to Ashish Pyasi, partner at law firm Aendri Legal, the TDSAT resolves conflicts between telecom and broadcast companies. Its rulings can only be challenged in the Supreme Court. There is no provision for challenging the interim orders to the Supreme Court. 'However, if someone files a writ petition in the High Court against a temporary TDSAT order, they are asking the High Court to use its special powers, which is only allowed in rare cases,' adds Pyasi.
