Winners of the Cathay 2024 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards are being announced at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event is organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China. Some 116 athletes, including swimmer Siobhan Haughey and fencer Cheung Ka-long, were nominated for honours being handed out on April 17, 2025.

Cheng gained a score of 59, putting him in third place among six contestants in the finals. The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee congratulated Cheng and the waterski team for their achievements in the sport, that's making its debut at the World Games. "Cheng demonstrated exceptional balance and coordination in the finals, performing an impressive array of tricks with swift and agile moves," said Chef de Mission Wong Po-kee. "Cheng claiming a medal in his debut on this world stage speaks volumes about Hong Kong's growing prowess in water sports," Wong added.

Photo courtesy of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China Hong Kong, China's wushu team earned more success at the the World Games in Chengdu as Lydia Sham clinched gold in the Wushu Women's Changquan-Jianshu-Qiangshu combined event. It was the third gold for Hong Kong, China, also the second gold earned by the wushu team. The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China congratulated Sham and the wushu team for their continued success. "Her skills and resilience were truly impressive. With fluid yet powerful movements, she earned high scores in each event, outcompeting her opponents to strike gold, said Wong Po-kee, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation. "Her victory is well-deserved... it is a testament of the excellence of Hong Kong athletes."
