Netizens explode as Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra face Rs 60.4 crore fraud allegations
Bollywood glamour has collided head-on with high-stakes financial scandal. Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, have been booked by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police in connection with an alleged Rs 60.4 crore fraud case. The complaint, filed by Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari, claims the couple misappropriated funds invested in their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, between 2015 and 2023. The allegations sending shockwaves through Bollywood According to police, the deal began as a loan-cum-investment arrangement but soon spiralled into allegations of financial diversion for personal use. Initially registered at Juhu Police Station, the case was transferred to the EOW due to the large sum involved. I'm amazed why they aren't outcasts in Bollywood, yet???Shilpa Shetty stays unfazed despite all these alleged fraud cases against her and her husband. See her all over social media, opening restaurants, being interviewed like nothing's happened. How did Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra's deal go sour? Kothari alleges that the Kundras, along with an unidentified associate, initially sought a Rs 75 crore loan at 12% interest. Later, he says, they convinced him to treat the amount as an 'investment' to reduce tax liabilities, promising both monthly returns and full repayment of the principal. Court filings show that in April 2015, Kothari transferred Rs 31.9 crore under a share subscription agreement, followed by Rs 28.53 crore in September under a supplementary deal. In April 2016, a personal guarantee was offered, but by September, Shilpa Shetty had resigned as director. The company declared bankruptcy in 2017 after defaulting on yet another agreement. Social media reacts, and it is not pretty The news has sent netizens into overdrive. Many are openly questioning why Bollywood still embraces the couple despite repeated controversies. One user argued that Shilpa Shetty appears unfazed by the mounting cases, continuing to open restaurants and appear in interviews 'as if nothing happened.' Kundra's/Shetty's whole family is crook n scamster. Shilpa's father once engaged gangster Fazlur Rehman ( guy who kidnapped Gautam Adani ) to extort his daughter Shilpa's outstanding ( modelling job ) frm a Marwadi trader n CM Modi had taught him a good lesson via Surat Police Others dredged up Kundra's past pornography-related case and levelled fresh accusations, painting the duo as serial offenders. Some even referenced older controversies involving Shetty's family, fuelling an online storm that shows no sign of dying down. The official word Police have confirmed that the investigation is active, and more details will be shared as evidence unfolds. For now, the case has reignited debates on celebrity accountability, the blurred lines between glamour and controversy, and whether influence in Bollywood comes with an unspoken immunity card.

Renukaswamys father hails SC decision cancelling actor Darshans bail
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Bengaluru/Chitradurga, Aug 14 (PTI) The family of murder victim Renukaswamy on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court order cancelling the bail granted to actor Darshan, saying it reinforces their faith in justice. The top court directed the authorities to take Darshan and other accused into custody forthwith and ordered that the trial be conducted expeditiously. 'Our faith in the government, judiciary and police has increased after the Supreme Court cancelled actor Darshan's bail. We thank the government. Our aim is to see that the criminal is punished. This will give peace to my son who was murdered," Renukaswamy's father Shivanagouda told PTI. He said the cancellation of bail 'makes us believe that the law is equal to all, be it rich, mighty or poor." The judgement came on an appeal filed by the Karnataka government against the state high court's December 13, 2024 order of bail to Darshan and the co-accused. Darshan, along with actress Pavithra Gowda and several others, is accused of abducting and torturing 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan who allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra. The police alleged the victim was held in a shed in Bengaluru for three days in June 2024, tortured and his body was recovered from a drain. Following the court order, security at Ballari prison has been tightened amid indications that Darshan may be shifted there. A high-security cell has been readied, and the compound wall, which fans had previously scaled to catch a glimpse of the actor, has been raised to 25 feet to prevent any untoward incidents, sources said. Officials said preparations for Independence Day flag-hoisting are being carried out alongside the enhanced security measures for Darshan's possible arrival. He Was In Illicit Affair With ‘Chachi' Who Had 4-Yr-Old Girl. Yrs Later He Raped That Same ‘Baby' Cousin
Last Updated: Police say a 33-year-old man was arrested for killing his aunt's daughter on the same day she tied him a Rakhi. Raksha Bandhan is a festival that honours the bond between brothers and sisters, but an incident from Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh has shocked many. Police say a 33-year-old man was arrested for killing his aunt's daughter on the same day she tied him a Rakhi. As per the investigation, after the celebration, the man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, assaulted his nephew while she was asleep and later strangled her. Amar Ujala reports also revealed that the accused had also been involved with the victim's mother ten years earlier. Over the years, their strained relationship had created disputes between the two families. The family tried to separate the two, but neither agreed to change their behaviour. Almost eight years ago, the family decided to marry the accused to a woman from Etawah, which created more distance between him and his aunt. During the investigation, the man admitted this. He also told officers that his uncle suffers from a respiratory illness. Recalling events from 2015, when he was 23 years old, he said his aunt, who is the mother of the teenage girl, had once called him to her home for some work. During that time, the accused and his aunt began a physical relationship, which went on for two years. Due to his regular visits, family members started to suspect something and his uncle caught them together. The family tried to make them end the relationship, but they refused and in 2017, the man married another woman. After this, both families stopped speaking to each other about the matter. Meanwhile, the girl's father had filed a police complaint against him and five others. Bidhuna Kotwal Mukesh Babu Chauhan explained that the accused and the teenage girl were from the same community, which had only seven families living in their village. On the night of Raksha Bandhan, when the crime took place, the accused's wife was away in her parents' home in Etawah, along with their two children. During the postmortem, hairs were found in the teenager's nails and hands. Police have collected these samples to compare them with the 33-year-old man's hair. The samples have been sent to the forensic science lab in Jhansi for the DNA tests. Investigators are confident that this evidence will help ensure justice for the victim and they will will be able to punish the man soon. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
