MegaRexx Builds a $180K Diesel Super Truck Based on Ford F-250
There are plenty of off-road trucks on the market right now, each catering to a different kind of buyer. If you want an electric truck with hipster vibes, there's the Rivian R1T. If you're after a tough-looking daily driver, the F-150 Raptor fits the bill. And if you want something to match your stainless steel kitchen, Tesla offers the Cybertruck. But if you're chasing something unhinged, something so over-the-top it makes everything else look tame, MegaRexx has exactly what you're after.
MegaRexx, a brand under Signature Autosports, builds the kind of trucks you draw while daydreaming in your school notebooks. Their specialty is taking Ford's Super Duty lineup and transforming it into something that looks like it escaped from a Baja race. They typically start with an F-250 Tremor and go wild with it - lifting the suspension even more, swapping in wider bodywork, and making everything look and feel more trophy truck-like. In essence, it's like giving the Super Duty the Raptor treatment, then tossing in a little extra just for fun.
Believe it or not, MegaRexx doesn't mess around much with the drivetrain. Instead of the standard gas-powered 7.3-liter V8, they opt for Ford's 6.7-liter High Output Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel, which makes 500 horsepower and a ridiculous 1,200 lb-ft of torque. The 10-speed automatic transmission and both differentials are left mostly untouched, apart from a new 4.88:1 gear ratio to help put all that power through its even larger wheels and tires.
Its suspension, on the other hand, gets a very unnecessary, but undoubtedly cool, overhaul. The truck sits 4.5 inches taller than an ordinary Super Duty, and just about every suspension component gets a high-performance replacement. Fox Racing supplies remote-reservoir shocks and track rods. Icon provides new 4.5-inch coil springs up front, leaf springs out back, and a set of steering stabilizers. MegaRexx even fabricates the radius arms themselves. The result isn't just more ground clearance; it should also handle better than you'd expect from something this humongous.
But the cherry on this all-terrain conquering Super Duty is its wheels, tires, and bodywork. With ZXL Michelin tires nearly twice as tall as the smallest person in the world (yes, we fact-checked that), measuring at 46 inches, and 20-inch three-piece aluminum wheels typically used by military trucks, it's a bona fide off-road monster. To accommodate its newfound girth, MegaRexx crafts wider fiberglass body panels that widen the Super Duty by 18 inches. Obligatory steel bumpers at the front and rear, complemented by LED light bars on each side, electronic side-steps, and a metal skid plate, round off the upgrades.
None of this comes cheap. A base Ford Super Duty F-250 starts at around $45,000, and that number climbs quickly once you add the $12,995 torque-healthy diesel engine and the $4,500 Tremor Off-Road package. A well-optioned factory F-250 can push past $100,000. MegaRexx takes things much, much further, with this particular build, finished in Rapid Red Metallic. They call it the F250 Original Super Duty Crew Cab, and it's priced at a steep $179,950. That's a lot of money for a truck, but it's also a lot of truck. If your dream is a go-anywhere diesel beast that towers over traffic, MegaRexx might be your kind of crazy.

Tesla Has Big Plans in China
Tesla is moving forward with plans to develop new operations in China despite the ongoing trade war between the United States and China, and with uncertainty over tariffs. In June, Tesla signed an agreement to develop a grid-scale battery power plant in China to help provide the country with a stable supply of clean power for consumers and support its aims for a green transition. However, Tesla will be competing with some of the world's biggest battery manufacturers for a market share, as it strives to break into new territory, beyond electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. The U.S.-based EV giant Tesla began as a Silicon Valley startup around two decades ago. Elon Musk joined the company as its chairman and principal funder in 2004, becoming its CEO in 2008. Tesla was viewed as a pioneer in the world of EVs, investing in a new way of driving when most automakers were only just beginning to float the idea. The EV firm dominated the U.S. and European EV market for several years, offering consumers a variety of wholly electric car models ahead of many of its much larger competitors. The Tesla Model S, which went on sale in 2012, had sports car performance and a range of over 250 miles, at a time when most competitors were offering far slower EVs with a comparatively low range. By 2020, Tesla held a 60 percent share of the U.S. EV market, a figure that fell to 38 percent in 2024, as hundreds of highly competitive EVs flooded the market. However, over time, Tesla has become more than just an EV manufacturer. The company has invested in the development of autonomous driving systems, aiming to deliver driverless 'robotaxis' to cities worldwide. It also has a burgeoning energy-storage business and is working on developing a humanoid robot, known as Optimus. While its EV business is faltering, as far more fully electric options enter the market, many from reputable automakers and at a lower cost, Tesla remains optimistic about its other projects. In June, Tesla announced it had signed a deal to develop the largest grid-scale battery power plant of its kind in China. The utility-scale battery storage system will be used to balance the supply and demand of energy to the grid, helping to deliver a stable supply of renewable electricity to consumers. The deal is thought to be worth $556 million. Tesla's first battery factory in Shanghai has produced over 100 Megapacks – the batteries used for utility-scale deployment – in the first quarter of the year, according to Tesla. One Megapack can provide up to 1 MW of power for four hours. The company stated, 'The grid-side energy storage power station is a 'smart regulator' for urban electricity, which can flexibly adjust grid resources.' The use of Megapacks is expected to boost energy security by ensuring that a stable supply of renewable electricity is delivered to consumers. China has invested heavily in its solar and wind energy sectors for several decades to become the biggest renewable energy power in the world. The Asian giant once again broke records last year when it installed huge quantities of green energy. China's installed solar and wind power capacity climbed 45.2 percent and 18 percent, respectively, in 2024, according to the National Energy Administration. There is now 886.67 GW of installed solar power, marking an increase from 609.49 GW in 2023, as well as a wind energy capacity of 520 GW. China hit its 2030 renewable energy capacity target in July last year, six years ahead of schedule. China's huge renewable energy capacity means that it is vital that the country install utility-scale battery storage at several of its major wind and solar farms to ensure that the clean energy supply is not limited only to the hours of the day in which the sun is shining and the wind is blowing. Battery storage will help China shift its reliance away from fossil fuels in the coming decades as it attempts to decarbonise the economy. Tesla is competing against China's CATL and the automaker BYD in developing battery storage. CATL currently holds around 40 percent of the global market share for battery manufacturing, and the firm was previously expected to provide the battery cells and packs used in Tesla's Megapacks. In addition, Tesla is taking a gamble as the project comes at a time when China is facing a trade war with the U.S., with President Trump having recently imposed high tariffs on Chinese imports. China now has a grid-scale battery capacity of around 40 GW. However, this will have to grow immensely in the coming years to help meet the country's green transition aims. In addition, other countries around the world will be looking to expand their utility-scale battery installations, which could lead Tesla to export more batteries from China. Musk renews attacks on Trump's "big, beautiful bill," says it will "destroy million of jobs"
Billionaire Elon Musk on Saturday doubled down on his distaste for President Trump's sprawling tax and spending cuts bill, arguing the legislation that Republican senators are scrambling to pass would kill jobs and bog down burgeoning industries. "The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country," Musk wrote on X on Saturday as the Senate was scheduled to call a vote to open debate on the nearly 1,000-page bill. "It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future." The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, whose birthday is also Saturday, later posted that the bill would be "political suicide for the Republican Party." The criticisms reopen a recent fiery conflict between the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency and the administration he recently left. They also represent yet another headache for Republican Senate leaders who have spent the weekend working overtime to get the legislation through their chamber so it can pass by Mr. Trump's Fourth of July deadline. Musk has previously made his opinions about Trump's "big, beautiful bill" clear. In late May, just a few days before he officially left his post in the federal government, he told "CBS Sunday morning" he was "disappointed" with the bill's price tag. "I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing," Musk told CBS News. "I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful," Musk added. "But I don't know if it can be both. My personal opinion." Following a laudatory celebration in the Oval Office, his language became more aggressive and he blasted the bill as "pork-filled" and a "disgusting abomination." "Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it," he wrote on X earlier this month. In another post, the wealthy GOP donor who had recently forecasted that he'd step back from political donations threatened to fire lawmakers who "betrayed the American people." When Mr. Trump clapped back to say he was disappointed with Musk, back-and-forth fighting erupted and quickly escalated. Musk suggested without evidence that Mr. Trump, who spent the first part of the year as one of his closest allies, was mentioned in files related to sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein. The president also threatened to cut off federal subsidies and contracts to Elon Musk's companies. SpaceX receives tens of billions of dollars in federal money, most of which are in the form of federal grants from NASA. "He's got a lot of money, he gets a lot of subsidy," Mr. Trump told reporters on June 6. "So we'll take a look at that. Only if it's fair for him and for the country. I would certainly think about it, but it has to be fair." Musk ultimately tried to make nice with the administration, saying he regretted some of his posts that "went too far." Trump responded in kind in an interview with The New York Post, saying, "Things like that happen. I don't blame him for anything." The shocking rift came after Musk donated $277 million to Trump's presidential campaign and other Republican candidates in the last election cycle, according to campaign finance records. It's unclear how Musk's latest broadsides will influence the fragile peace he and the president had enjoyed in recent weeks. The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Musk has spent recent weeks focused on his businesses, and his political influence has waned since he left the administration.
