Teachers' body complain about poor condition of panchayat union school near Tiruchuli
Members of Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers' Federation on Monday demanded basic amenities at the Karanendal Panchayat Union Middle School premises.
The federation members, led by its district secretary, Selvaganesan, gave a petition to Virudhunagar Collector, V.P. Jeyaseelan, pointing to the lack of compound wall around the school building where the classes for 1 to 5 are being held in Karanendal village. Hence, the school building was in the absence of proper protection.
Similarly, the other school building, where classes 6 to 8 were functioning, along Narikudi Road, had its flooring damaged. The walls were also in a dilapidated condition.
The Headmaster had drawn the attention of the Block Development Officer of Tiruchuli union on the need to repair the dusty room at the earliest to facilitate setting up of Information Technology Laboratory there. However, no action has been taken till date, the federation complained.
This was taking a toll on the teaching-learning process.
Despite girls of adoloscent age were studying the middle school, the erratic supply of water to the school has made it difficult for the students to use the toilet facility.
The petition sought to sink a borewell on the school premises to meet the water needs.
Since, the Smart Classroom has been set up on the middle school campus, the students of classes 1 to 5 could not get the benefit of smart classroom.
Hence, additional buildings should be constructed to bring all the eight classes on the single premises, the petition said.
