Anthony Hernandez: 'No f*cking idea' why UFC flying me to Chicago, but 'it's a good sign'
Anthony Hernandez admits he's not quite sure what the UFC's intentions are by flying him out to Chicago this week. Hernandez (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) scored a dominant submission finish of Roman Dolidze (15-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) in this past Saturday's UFC on ESPN 72 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Hernandez later revealed that the organization will be flying him out to Chicago to attend Saturday's UFC 319 middleweight title fight between champion Dricus Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) and Khamzat Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) at United Center. With Nassourdine Imavov taking on Caio Borralho on Sept. 6 in Paris, and Reinier de Ridder outlasting Robert Whittaker last month at UFC on ABC 9, many fighters are in the running for the next title shot. So why is the UFC flying out Hernandez? "I have no f*cking idea, but I'm going to go find out," Hernandez told MMA Junkie Radio on Monday. "Hopefully it's good, though. I feel like it's a good sign. Especially with showing out that close to the fight, I think it's good." Although he's on an eight-fight winning streak, "Fluffy" is aware he'll likely have to fight one more time before getting his desired title shot. "For sure, I get that the division is crazy," Hernandez said. "I was actually talking to Caio, and I'm like I'd hate to be the matchmaker right now because sh*t's going crazy right now. Why Alabama football OC Ryan Grubb believes Ty Simpson is right for starting QB job
Alabama football has its starting quarterback in Ty Simpson, and on Tuesday, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb explained why Simpson was the choice to lead the Crimson Tide in 2025. "Ty did a really nice job of taking care of the football, No. 1," Grubb said. "I think Ty is an incredible playmaker on the move, and guys like that, you worry 'are they going to be able to train themselves to take care of the football?' In the room in general, Ty led that charge. But Ty didn't throw any picks last week. He's thrown one all camp. We've thrown like four total this camp." On Monday, news of the coaching staff's selection of Simpson was broken by The Tuscaloosa News. He beat out redshirt sophomore Austin Mack and true freshman Keelon Russell for the job. Grubb said no decision has been made on who will be the No. 2 quarterback. Last year, turnovers played a major role in Alabama's first season with four or more losses since 2007. With ball security as a mandate, Simpson, a fourth-year junior, led the quarterback competition throughout spring practice and into fall camp before being named the starter. He spent three years as an Alabama backup, first behind Bryce Young, then behind Jalen Milroe. Grubb added that poise and decision making were the two areas where Simpson has improved most. "His eyes would drop and he'd give up on stuff really quickly, because he's so athletic and can move," Grubb said. "Now I feel like he's very poised back there. Any time you have a guy who can balance those two things - be an explosive athlete out of the pocket, but also know he doesn't have to do that every time, I think that's the thing you love to see out of a guy like Ty." Taylor Swift announces new album 'The Life of a Showgirl' in clip from Travis Kelce's podcast — what we know
The clip was shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12, a nod to Swift's 12th album. It's been a long time coming … and now we have a title for Taylor Swift's 12th album. The new work, The Life of a Showgirl, was announced on a video clip from the Wednesday, Aug. 13, episode of Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast, New Heights. It was shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 12, as a nod to Swift's 12th album. In the clip, Swift shows the brothers a record holder, which is mint green with the initials T.S. on it. 'This is my brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl,' the singer declares, taking out the vinyl, the cover of which is blurred. Swift's website also isn't giving away the cover art, showing only a blurred orange and green image with a lock on it. Fans are able to preorder the vinyl, cassette and CD editions of the new album on the website. Swift has not revealed a track list or even a release date for the album. Her website states that pre-orders will ship out on Oct. 13, but that this is not an official drop date for the new work. While fans will have to wait to learn more about The Life of a Showgirl, the music icon is hitting the ground running on the album rollout. Billboards in Nashville and New York (two places Swift has called home) direct viewers to a Spotify playlist curated by the star titled "And, baby, that's show business for you." The playlist contains 22 songs, all of which were produced by Max Martin and Shellback, prolific pop music producers who worked with Swift on her albums Red, 1989 and Reputation. Fans speculate that the playlist could hint that Swift is reuniting with the team for The Life of a Showgirl. Meanwhile, others are getting in on the fun surrounding Swift's upcoming release. The Empire State Building in New York City was lit up in orange in celebration. And when you search "Taylor Swift" on Google, orange confetti rains down, and a burning heart icon pops up that says "And baby, that's show business for you." Eagle-eyed Swifties first noticed something was in the works with the Eras Tour icon on Aug. 11, when Taylor Nation — the official platform for all things Swift — took to social media to share a post featuring 12 photos of Swift, all in the same shade of orange. The caption of the post was 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era …'' along with a red heart surrounded by orange flames. Meanwhile, Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, announced that Swift would be the surprise guest on his and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast episode dropping on Wednesday. The brothers initially hinted that Swift could be joining them in a post Monday afternoon that featured Travis in Swift merch with a sparkly orange background, which fans caught on to immediately. The 12th album marks Swift's first new music release since she announced that she officially owns her first six albums after a lengthy battle over her master recordings. The artist began a rerecording project after she learned in 2019 that her masters were sold to Scooter Braun against her will. Swift went on to release enormously successful 'Taylor's Versions' of her 2008 album, Fearless; her 2010 album, Speak Now; her 2012 album, Red; and her 2014 album, 1989, and now owns the original works as well. 'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,' Swift wrote in a letter to fans posted on her website when she purchased her masters. 'All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy.' While fans were initially anticipating rerecordings of her 2006 self-titled album and her 2017 album, Reputation, to be among her next releases, Swift instead appears to be focusing on making new music.
