Drunk 17-year-old misses target; man dies as plot to frame GF's kin goes awry

didn't plan to die that night. He planned to make a statement—loud, painful, and staged. Somewhere between desperation and drunkenness, the 21-year-old convinced a teen friend to help him pull off a bizarre scheme: get shot, survive, and blame it all on his girlfriend's family—people who he believed were standing between him and the woman he loved.
'Shoot me in the stomach. I want to frame her family for resisting our relationship,' he allegedly told the 17-year-old friend and drinking companion late on Tuesday. But the bullet didn't follow the script. It struck his chest.
On Wednesday morning, Harsh's bullet-hit body was found in an agricultural field in Meerut's Ganga Nagar area, with a country-made pistol lying nearby. SSP Dr Vipin Tada said, 'We rushed to the spot, identified the body, and informed his family.'
Harsh's family, residents of the same locality, immediately pointed fingers at the woman's relatives. 'They were against the relationship. They must have done this,' the family claimed.
However, six hours later, the story unravelled.
The Class 11 boy broke down during questioning. 'On the night of the incident, Harsh, who was unemployed, called him to the field after buying alcohol. Both drank together. Harsh wanted the juvenile to shoot him in a way that wouldn't be fatal.
But the bullet hit his chest instead of the stomach. He died on the spot. The boy was drunk when he pulled the trigger,' the SSP said.
The minor panicked and discarded the pistol near the body, tossed Harsh's phone onto the roof of a nearby tubewell, and fled—perhaps hoping the story would end there. 'The boy has been booked under BNS section 103 (murder) and sent to a juvenile home. Harsh and the woman were in a relationship for over two years,' Tada said.

One person was killed while 10 others — including eight patients — were rescued after a fire broke out at Kosmos Hospital in East Delhi's Anand Vihar on Saturday afternoon. Fire officials said the blaze has been brought under control, and firefighting operations are underway. A hospital staffer who was in the bathroom died from suffocation. According to fire officials, a call regarding the blaze was received at 12.12 pm, following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the location. By 3 pm, the fire was brought under control. Police said Amit was declared dead at the hospital. 'It appears he initially rushed to the roof, but later locked himself in the bathroom on the third floor to escape the blaze. His body is being shifted to the mortuary for an autopsy,' said the DCP. A case under sections 287 and 106(1) of the BNS is being registered,' the officer said. The others are stable. In a deadly blaze on May 25 last year, seven newborns were killed and four infants rescued after a massive fire broke out at the Baby Care New Born Hospital in Vivek Vihar. A suspected short circuit in the generator, which had been stored on the roof of the building, had sparked the blaze. It then spread to oxygen cylinders stored in the hospital, leading to multiple explosions. Sixteen fire tenders were called to the spot almost 30-35 minutes later. The police, in their chargesheet, had flagged several violations: the hospital had no fire safety equipment, no qualified nurses, the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was housing more beds than the sanctioned strength, and more cylinders than prescribed were being stored in a hazardous manner.

Tragic Drownings Linked to Online Defamation in Karnataka
UDUPI: A 93-year-old woman went missing on Aug 5 after leaving her home to visit a neighbour. Despite search efforts, her body was found three days later near a nearby stream swollen by heavy rains. According to a complaint filed by her son, Vasantharaya, 55, of Hirebettu village, Saraswati left at around 12:30 pm, saying she was going to their neighbour Shyam's house to chew betel leaves and arecanut. She did not return home. A case was registered at Manipal Police Station. While searching for Saraswati, her body was discovered on Friday at around 6:20 pm amidst bushes on the bank of the Garudi Takshumati stream, which flows behind the complainant's house. It is suspected that between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm, after visiting Shyam's house, she went to the streamside and was swept away by the strong currents of the swollen stream caused by heavy rainfall, resulting in her alleged drowning. An unnatural death case was registered at Manipal Police Station in connection with the incident. Man Found Dead in River A man was found dead in the Sowparnika River after going missing on Aug 7. The deceased is Natesh, 36. It is alleged that defamatory videos about him circulated by two individuals deeply affected him, leading to his suspected suicide. The Kollur Police have registered a case and an investigation is on. In a complaint, Madhukar, 38, of Kollur village, Byndoor, reported that his uncle's son, Natesh. fell into the flowing waters of the Sowparnika River at Sampre, Kollur. After a search, his dead body was found in the river near the Mavinakaru Bridge in Kollur. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now An unnatural death report was registered at Kollur Police Station. It is learnt that Natesh's car was found parked near the riverbank with the key inside. The car was parked near his home. On Friday morning, the complainant reportedly searched inside the car and found Natesh's mobile phone along with a small note. The note contained the mobile password and mentioned that the secret to his death was in the phone gallery. When the phone was opened and videos inside were viewed, it was found that two persons were allegedly spreading defamatory content about Natesh. Due to this, Natesh felt disturbed and decided to end his life. Based on the complaint, Kollur Police Station registered a case under Section 108 read with Section 3(5) of the BNS.

2 booked for obscene language in social media videos in Karnataka
MANGALURU: The Belthangady Police registered two separate cases involving the circulation of videos containing obscene language on social media platforms on Friday. According to the complaint filed by Srinivas , 51, a resident of Belthangady, while checking videos on social media, he came across a video on YouTube in which Rakesh Shetty was allegedly seen using obscene language in a manner causing annoyance to the public. Based on his complaint, a case was registered under Section 296 of the BNS. In a complaint filed by Dayananda, 44, a resident of Belthangady, while browsing Facebook on his mobile phone, he came across a video on the Facebook page 'Sandya Voice for Justice' in which the page owner was allegedly seen using obscene language in a manner causing annoyance to the public.
