A look at the SG60 Heart&Soul Experience, a showcase that uses AI to personalise visitors' experience
Titled SG60 Heart&Soul Experience, the event invites visitors to imagine their future in Singapore through immersive storytelling, the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) and the National Library Board (NLB) said in a news release.
The free showcase is jointly organised by both organisations and created by the same team behind the Singapore Bicentennial in 2019 and the SG50 Future of Us exhibition.
A ticketed experience lasting 60 to 90 minutes will be held at the Orchard library, accompanied by non-ticketed installations at the level one atria of Orchard Central and Orchard Gateway.
At a media preview, executive creative director Gene Tan described the exhibition as a journey through Singapore's past, present and future.
"What we hope to see is a very personal national exhibition," he said, adding that visitors can view personal narratives of Singaporeans who lived through key moments of history.
"But also, you'll have a personalised version of the future that's presented to you based on your aspirations," he said. "The twist, though, is that what you see in your future may not be what you expect."
As part of their personalised journey, visitors can have a conversation with a digital librarian in a futuristic phone booth. There will also be a floor-to-ceiling multi-sensory space, where they can view a video created based on their responses to various interactive elements through the experience.
"You'll be able to see a big surprise at the end, a video trailer of yourself, where you are the star of your own future," Mr Tan said.
The experience is powered by generative AI, trained on data sets from more than 100 partners across the public, private and people sectors.
When booking tickets, visitors may upload a photo to generate a personalised avatar, which will be used when they visit the showcase, or select one from a curated library.
Mr Tan said the team takes data privacy seriously and will not retain any personal information collected during the experience.
NLB chief executive Ng Cher Pong said the exhibition offers a 'glimpse into what the future in Singapore could hold'.
'Our hope is that this experience inspires optimism and confidence in Singaporeans as we look ahead to the next 60 years and beyond,' he said.
The showcase is recommended for visitors aged seven and above and will run from Aug 26 to Dec 31. The non-ticketed installations will be open daily from 9am to 10pm.

[SINGAPORE] The labour movement will support the government to navigate the challenging global landscape and strengthen job security, National Trade Unions Congress (NTUC) chief Ng Chee Meng said. In his National Day Message issued on Thursday (Jul 31), the labour chief outlined NTUC's efforts to support workers and save jobs through various difficult periods over the years, such as the 2008 global financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic. 'We should all embrace AI to augment our work productivity.' he said. 'However, AI should be harnessed in ways that would ensure fair workplace practices and not be inadvertently used in ways that can lead to disrupted livelihoods and hardships.' To support workers, Ng said NTUC will refresh its Job Security Council (JSC) to help companies and workers 'pivot, adapt and capitalise on emerging AI trends so that they can be upskilled and be relevant in the new economy'. JSC was launched in February 2020 during the pandemic as a network of companies that were looking to hire and lay off, allowing workers to be placed in new jobs ahead of displacement. 'Through the JSC, we will work with companies to drive business and workforce transformation,' said Ng. 'For workers, we will continue to support you to future-proof your careers through relevant career guidance, AI and other upskilling, mentorship opportunities and purposeful job matching.' He added that the best way to future-proof one self is to upskill to 'stay abreast of new developments and technology'. 'Whether you are a youth, mature worker, lower-wage worker, freelancer, PME, platform worker, caregiver or migrant worker, NTUC will continue to work with you, for you. 17-member committee formed to guide the progressive roll-out of autonomous vehicles in Singapore
SINGAPORE: A 17-member steering committee chaired by Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow has been formed to guide the progressive roll-out of autonomous vehicles (AVs) in Singapore, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) announced on Thursday (Jul 31). The committee consists of transport industry representatives from companies such as ComfortDelGro and Grab, academics in transport-related fields, a union representative, and senior officials from several ministries. The third is industry and jobs, to grow local AV capabilities, create new jobs and "bring workers along" as AVs reshape transportation in Singapore. The fourth is technology and safety, to ensure that the AV sector has robust cybersecurity and data policies. Thursday's announcement came after Mr Siow, who is also Senior Minister of State for Finance, said last month that he expected to see "many" AVs on Singapore's roads in the next five years. Mr Siow also announced last month that AVs will be trialled in Punggol later this year. Grab, meanwhile, started shuttling employees between its One-North office and One-North MRT station with an autonomous bus earlier this month. WeRide, an AV company that has been running a shuttle service at Resorts World Sentosa for a year, currently ferries about 100 passengers daily on a 1.2km route around Sentosa.
