New £12 Dunelm duvet cover is 'cool in summer' and comes in 37 colours
The easiest way to change up the aesthetic of your bedroom is to update the duvet set. From minimalistic one colour designs to bright and intricate sets, there are many duvet sets on the market that can seamlessly complete your bedroom decor.
For those who lean more onto the simplistic styles of duvets, one of Dunelm's newest covers may be the perfect choice as it is already a hit with regular shoppers. With over 30 colours to choose from, shoppers will easily be able to find the right cover for them.
The Pure Cotton Plain Dye Duvet Cover starts at £12 for a single and goes up to £34 for a super king. Those with a double bed will need to pay £22, while a king size is priced at £29.
This 180 thread count duvet cover is described as 'comfortable', 'soft' and 'cooling' for the summer months, reports the Liverpool Echo. As the cover is made from 100 per cent cotton, it is said to be breathable to lay under even in warmer weather.
Finished off with a button fastening to securely close the duvet cover, it is also said to come with a five-year guarantee. Shoppers have 37 colours to choose from, including natural, mustard, rhubarb, seafoam, charcoal, black and butterscotch.
However, shoppers need to be aware that Dunelm is selling the duvet cover without any pillowcases, meaning shoppers will need to buy them separately. However, this does mean shoppers can choose the pillowcase style they prefer.
Shoppers can choose between either the Pure Cotton Standard Pillowcase or the Pure Cotton Oxford Pillowcase - both of which are priced at £7.
Another popular bedding set on Dunelm is the Fogarty Soft Touch Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set. Priced between £7.50 and £30, this set is available in 16 colours.
Made with a super soft and breathable microfiber polyester that has been recycled, this bedding is finished off with a secure button closure.
Alternatively, Next is selling the Cotton Rich Plain Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set for between £18 to £45. Made with 80 per cent cotton and 20 per cent recycled polyester, this set is said to provide both comfort and softness. Shoppers also have 19 colours to choose from.
Back to the Pure Cotton Duvet, this simple cover currently boasts a 4.2 star rating from nearly 500 shoppers. Many reviewers gushed over the colour and feel of the cover, however some were a bit peeved that the pillowcases weren't included.
One happy shopper said: "Perfect colour addition to my room after struggling to find a suitable duvet. Wanted 100% cotton and price is good."
With another adding: "Soft, breathable, and luxuriously comfortable—100% cotton bedding feels like a dream. It keeps you cool in summer and cozy in winter, with a natural, gentle touch on the skin.
"Durable and easy to care for, it's a timeless choice that transforms any bedroom into a restful retreat. Highly recommend!"
However, one shopper grumbled: "Love the colour and the material. It doesn't come with pillowcases though - you have to buy these separately. Washes fine." While another reviewer added on: "Love the colour, but when washed, a lot of static."
Despite this, a third five-star reviewer wrote: "Cool, soft and comfortable, quality feel. Washes well and easy to iron." With a fourth tacking on: "Great material, very soft and comfortable. Will definitely be getting more in more colours."

Next cashes in on M&S cyber chaos: Wolfson delivers third profit upgrade in just five months
Next has raised its profit forecasts as it cashes in on the cyber attack at rival Marks & Spencer. Defying gloom on the High Street, the fashion retailer announced its third upgrade in five months after sales came in £49million higher than anticipated. UK sales in the past 13 weeks were 7.8 per cent higher than a year earlier, which it put down to the weather and M&S's woes. The firm, whose dresses and other clothes were worn by Kate during her pregnancies, crashed into administration last month with the loss of 95 jobs. Next has a record for scooping up brands of collapsed retailers, such as FatFace and Joules. Lord Wolfson, whose insights into the UK's economic health are closely watched, has steered it since 2001. In that time sales have soared, as many have struggled. Yesterday, Pets at Home slashed its annual profit forecast, citing 'subdued' demand, and this week bakery chain Greggs said heatwaves in June dragged profits down. But Next 'remains cautious for the second half' and is not upgrading sales expectations as it will not benefit from disruption at M&S or good weather, while a weak job market will hit sales. It said: 'We expect employment opportunities to continue to diminish as we enter the second half, with the effects of April's National Insurance changes continuing to filter through into the economy. We believe this will increasingly dampen consumer spending.' The worry comes as figures published today show sales in shops grew just 0.8pc this month compared to July 2024. As this was significantly below inflation, it means volumes have plunged for a seventh month in a row, figures from accountants BDO show.

HMRC warning as people risk fines with deadline fast approaching
The second payment on account for the 2024/25 tax bill is due by midnight on July 31 (tonight), and self-employed workers are being urged to act to avoid penalties His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is issuing a last-minute reminder for the looming deadline that falls today. Self-employed individuals are being prompted to settle the second payment on account for their 2024/25 tax bill by midnight on July 31, 2025, to sidestep any late penalties. With over 12 million people anticipated to submit a tax return and settle any due taxes this year, HMRC has implemented payments on account as a means to prevent taxpayers from facing a hefty single bill. Taking to social media, the government department announced: "Today is the deadline for #SelfAssessment customers to make their payment on account." They encouraged taxpayers to "pay online or via the HMRC app." This comes after recent news of a £200 payment for state pensioners born before 1959 to be made soon. These interim payments are mandatory for customers whose previous self-assessment bill exceeded £1,000, or for those who had less than 80% of their tax collected through PAYE. Each instalment amounts to half of the previous year's tax liability, reports the Liverpool Echo. Failure to pay up will trigger automatic penalties from HMRC. The requirement to file self-assessment returns extends to self-employed professionals, high-income earners, and certain parents, while most UK taxpayers have their taxes deducted directly from salaries, pensions, or savings and do not need to complete a return. HMRC advises anyone struggling to meet their tax obligations to get in touch promptly. It may be possible to arrange a payment plan that distributes the cost over a period, helping to dodge additional fines. Known as a Time to Pay arrangement, this option requires individuals to have their relevant tax reference number, such as the unique tax reference, and UK bank account details where they're authorised to set up a Direct Debit. The Government has unveiled new services for those who pay tax through Self Assessment, aimed at streamlining the process and making it more user-friendly. As part of its Transformation Roadmap, released on July 21, 2025, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has introduced a range of measures designed to assist customers in their dealings with the department. These measures include: Improvements on the Digital Self Assessment registration and opt out processes Bringing out enhanced on-screen messages to help customers and reduce waiting times on enquiries Fixing the online appeals process for filing and late payment penalties HMRC is advising customers to take advantage of the summer period by filing their Self Assessment tax return for the 2024 to 2025 tax year early - potentially coinciding with the settlement of their Payment on Account. By filing early, taxpayers will be aware of the amount they owe and could possibly reduce their next Payment on Account if there's been a drop in income. Additionally, should a refund be warranted, it can be processed more promptly. HMRC emphasises: "Paying on time avoids any potential penalties and interest as HMRC charges a late payment penalty from the day after the deadline. Payments can be made quickly, securely and at any time via the HMRC app, which also allows customers to check their tax account."
