A new Korean docuseries titled ' The Echoes of Survivors : Inside Korea's Tragedies' has managed to make a massive impact amongst netizens from around the world. The series shows four different tragedies that hit South Korea, and goes into depth about the cases. The docuseries, however, has managed to garner a lot of criticism as well, for not covering such serious and sensitive topics properly, and for not treating the witnesses well enough during filming for the show. The backlash The docuseries is a follow-up season of the show ' In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal ', and follows the coverage of 4 different tragedies that hit the country: the Busan Brothers' Home , the JMS church, the Chijon family gang murders, and the Sampoong Department Store collapse. The show is being criticised by netizens over its coverage of the harrowing incidents. One specific segment of the show that covers the Busan Brothers' Home has caused a lot of backlash and outrage online. This is often labelled as 'Korea's Auschwitz', and refers to an internment camp that was set up in the country under a military dictatorship. People were illegally detained, made to do labour with no pay, and were abused regularly. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo What sparked massive outrage online is the fact that the creators of the show took interviews of the people who survived such camps; however, the insensitive point came when they were dressed in similar track suits that were once worn by them during their time in the camp. Netizens react Ever since the show aired online, netizens have been sharing their disdain over the matter. Many have been commenting about how horrible this is and how the coverage should not have happened in such a way. One person's comment read, 'I'm on ep 1 and disgusted they put the survivors in uniforms and the rooms are decorated like the torture Just interview them!!! Who made such decisions???', while another person commented, 'it feels cruel and exploitative. These people are already speaking about the most painful thing that happened to them in great detail, so I don't understand why they have to be put in those rooms or wear the uniform'.
