Special ‘A___A' Number Plate Series Raises Over RM24 Million
Held from Apr 19 to 23 in conjunction with the 79th Anniversary of the Road Transport Department (JPJ), a total of 24,470 individuals participated, with 6,746 bidders successfully securing their preferred registration numbers through the JPJeBid system.
According to MOT, the highest bid was for the plate A9A, which fetched RM902,020.
This was followed by A11A with a bid of RM703,007, and A8A, which went for RM700,000.
Other top bids included A7A at RM502,000, and A2A at RM490,888.
The most contested number was A51A, which received 40 bids. Other popular choices included A101A (31 bidders), A8118A (29 bidders), A1881A (27 bidders), and A19A (27 bidders).
The ministry stated that proceeds from the Special Registration Number initiative, including this 'A___A' series, will be used to fund public benefit programmes under MOT.
These include MyLESEN, the Helmet Exchange Programme, FlySISWA, and other transport-related initiatives aimed at supporting the rakyat.
'The strong response to the 'A___A' series reflects the public's growing interest in personalised vehicle registration numbers.
'The Ministry and JPJ extend their congratulations to all successful bidders and appreciation to all participants for their support,' MOT said in a statement.
JPJ also reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the JPJeBid platform and other digital services to ensure more efficient and accessible public service delivery in the future.

JPJ Sarawak seizes 28 luxury vehicles this month, warns other owners to renew road tax and insurance

JPJ Sarawak said the seizures were made after the vehicles were found to have committed multiple offences, primarily involving expired road tax and the absence of valid insurance coverage, both of which are offences under the Road Transport Act 1987. 'This type of offence should not occur, especially involving vehicles that are symbols of status and luxury,' JPJ Sarawak stressed in a statement yesterday. The department said it believes there are still luxury vehicles in the state being driven without renewed road tax and insurance coverage. 'Therefore, JPJ Sarawak urges all vehicle owners, especially luxury vehicle owners, to always ensure that their road tax and insurance coverage are renewed before using their vehicles on the road. 'JPJ Sarawak will not compromise with any violation of the law that could pose safety risks to other road users,' said the department. Meanwhile, a woman accompanying her boyfriend to reclaim his luxury multipurpose vehicle (MPV) that had been seized earlier found the vehicle she was driving also failed a JPJ inspection. Checks revealed that the Toyota Land Cruiser had no valid road tax or insurance, and it was subsequently seized on the spot at the JPJ Sarawak Complex here yesterday (Aug 20). 'The situation before JPJ enforcement officers was akin to 'surrendering', and more ironically, the woman had come to the JPJ Complex to send her boyfriend who intended to reclaim his Toyota Vellfire that had earlier been seized under the same operation,' said the department. JPJ stressed that the incident underscored its commitment to continue Ops Kenderaan Mewah consistently to ensure full compliance with road traffic laws by luxury vehicle owners and drivers. The department reminded the public to always ensure their road tax is renewed and insurance coverage is valid before using their vehicles. Company director fined RM10,000 for submitting false bank statement
KUALA LUMPUR: A company director received a RM10,000 fine from the Sessions Court today for submitting a falsified bank statement during a commercial vehicle licence application. Judge Suzana Hussin imposed the penalty on thirty-eight year old Loh Jui Chew after he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge. Loh promptly paid the fine following the court's decision. He faced charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code for using a counterfeit Maybank statement during his application at the Land Public Transport Agency office. The offence carries a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment or a fine or both upon conviction. Loh submitted the fraudulent document to APAD on 15 September 2022 while applying for a commercial vehicle licence. Court documents revealed that Loh operates JC Tech Advance Auto Sdn Bhd, a management service business established in 2019. His company provides services related to APAD, the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre and the Road Transport Department. A man approached Loh at his Melaka office on 10 August 2022 seeking assistance with a commercial vehicle licence application. The application required several documents including a Companies Commission of Malaysia submission, three-month bank statements, a vehicle parking site letter and a work contract letter. Loh proceeded to falsify the man's Maybank account statement between August and September 2022. He submitted the fabricated documents along with the application to the Central Region APAD counter officer. The APAD Licensing Committee approved the application on 21 September 2022 before discovering the fraud. Deputy Public Prosecutor Elyza Amira Habeeb Rahman from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission prosecuted the case. Defence lawyer Alvin Tan Keng Yi represented Loh during the court proceedings. – Bernama
