'Just hot people getting killed!' Charli XCX 's puts herself forward to produce Final Destination
The Grammy-winning pop sensation recently revealed her vision for the next chapter in the cult horror series and it's exactly what you'd expect from a self-proclaimed horror fan with an ear for pop culture.
In a recent TikTok video, the Grammy-winning singer shared her enthusiasm for the Final Destination franchise ahead of the release of its latest installment, Bloodlines.
She explained why the series has remained a favourite: 'It's about attractive people being killed off. There's no moralising, no deeper message. They're cursed and they deserve to die.'
Her idea? To inject the series with a fresh twist by casting a group of 'It Girls', including Rachel Sennott, Alex Consani, Gabbriette, Romy Mars and Charli herself, alongside scream queen Jenna Ortega and original horror icon Sissy Spacek.
Charli said: 'I think a Final Destination with this kind of cast would stay true to the franchise's formula, which plays with its own lore. It's not trying to do anything new other than have hot people die in brutal ways, with some sharp dialogue.'
The Final Destination films, known for their inventive and often elaborate death sequences, have been a staple of supernatural horror since the first movie in 2000. The latest release, Bloodlines, performed strongly at the box office, achieving a franchise-best domestic opening of $51.7 million.
Rachel Sennott, known for her recent breakout roles, appeared keen on the concept, responding in the comments of Charli's video with 'Ok, I'm in.'
The proposal to cast a lineup of stylish young women alongside scream queens represents an intriguing evolution for the series, blending glamour and horror. Bringing in Sissy Spacek, famous for her role in Carrie, would serve as a fitting nod to horror history, bridging generations.
Charli also suggested the film be directed by a horror auteur capable of balancing style and scares, ensuring the franchise's trademark inventive deaths remain front and centre.
While no official project has been announced, Charli's pitch highlights a growing trend to combine fashion and genre filmmaking, and the popularity of horror among younger audiences.
Whether this vision will come to fruition remains uncertain. For now, it offers a tantalising glimpse of what could be a stylish, high-profile new chapter for the Final Destination franchise.

Mom checks on her toddler and Saint Bernard—and can't believe what she finds
Every mom knows that if their toddler is quiet, something is going on. For one little girl named Lavender, that 'something' was turning her giant Saint Bernard into the ultimate play set. In a TikTok posted by @thanosthesaint, which has already racked up nearly 7 million views, Thanos the Saint Bernard is stretched out on the floor, sound asleep, one back leg pointing straight up in the air. Lavender takes full advantage of the perfect setup: she slides her stacking rings onto his paw like it's the world's most patient toy stand. She carefully stacks and un-stacks them, experimenting with different color orders while her furry 'assistant' stays perfectly still. Even with cartoons playing in the background, Lavender stays laser-focused on her DIY game—and Thanos doesn't move a muscle. The world's most patient playmate At one point, Thanos stirs awake, only to flop back over and resume his nap, giving Lavender even more opportunities to perfect her stacking. Eventually, the video ends with Lavender cuddled up between Thanos and his fellow Saint Bernard, Dunder, proving just how much these dogs adore their tiny human. And as a mom of an 18-month-old and a dog, I'll be honest: my house doesn't always look like this. Sometimes the toddler pulls ears, sometimes the dog steals snacks—and more often than not, I'm playing referee. That's why seeing a moment like this, where a child and a pet fall into an unspoken rhythm of patience and play, feels so magical. It's the kind of quiet harmony every mom hopes for, even if just for a few minutes. Related: Mom says no to another dog—until a senior rescue 'chooses' her teen The comments were just as good as the video Parents and dog lovers alike couldn't get over both Lavender's determination and Thanos' gentle spirit. @Hollymidfield said: 'The fact that she figured out that the rings fit on the dog's leg amazes me.' @Rainonwater: 'He's like: she's quiet, let her do it.' @breezygemini78: 'The dog is giving dad vibes, do whatever, just don't cry.' And honestly, same. Related: You won't believe what this 14-year-old dog did when she heard a crying baby Why moments like this mean so much to parents For moms, seeing a toddler completely absorbed in play—especially quiet, independent play—feels like striking gold. Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that unstructured playtime builds focus, problem-solving skills, and creativity in young kids. It's also a reminder that sometimes the simplest 'toys' are the ones that spark the most joy (and give us a few precious minutes to sip our coffee). Lavender may think she just found a fun way to play with her stacking rings, but what she really showed all of us is the power of imagination and the incredible patience of a family dog. Former reporter's new novel features Valley institutions — including Axios Phoenix
Christina Estes' new mystery novel is chock-full of local references, including one that's especially near and dear to our hearts — a fictional Axios Phoenix reporter. The big picture: " The Story That Wouldn't Die," Estes' second book featuring tenacious television reporter Jolene Garcia, was officially released Tuesday. The intrigue: There's a brief appearance by a fictional Axios Phoenix reporter whose name, Jessmy Doehm, is a mash-up of the two reporters who make this newsletter happen every day. Estes was a longtime Valley journalist who spent years with KJZZ. Zoom in: Garcia's latest adventure has her delving into City Hall corruption, a fitting follow-up to the Emmy-winning reporter's investigation into a controversial radio host's murder in Estes' first book. Part of the story that revolves around development and the displacement of residents was inspired by Estes' reporting, she said. Between the lines: The book in many ways is a love letter to Phoenix, with Garcia visiting restaurants and landmarks throughout town, including Miracle Mile Deli, Sweet Republic, Steele Indian School Park and Fair Trade Cafe. It also opens with a fictionalized version of the 2016 incident in which then-Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton got stuck in an elevator at City Hall. Estes told Axios that Luana's Coffee and Beer added a secret menu item because of the book, so pay attention to the references. "The book's dedication says it all: "To Phoenix, for welcoming me, challenging me, and cheering me," she told Axios Phoenix. My thought bubble: I was especially happy to see Garcia get lunch at Chino Bandito. The north Phoenix Chinese-Mexican fusion eatery has been one of my favorite restaurants for 30 years.
